  2. ^ You'd think so by their carnival-style logo.
  3. I don't like the flat part of the state except the cities.
  4. I'm trying to think of a more counterproductive and sprawl-inducing technique. I'm having trouble.

Naples is pretty much all Columbusites.
  6. Also, the most hardcore Sabbath fans would know that Iommi didn't play with Jethro Tull before Sabbath started, but instead took a break from Earth/Black Sabbath which had been a band for two years at that point.
  7. The average Black Sabbath fan has a coronary when they see Rock 'N Roll Circus for the first time. It usually goes like this "Is that really Iommi? I can't tell because of the hat. Iommi never wears hats! That guy's playing a Strat, too. That can't be Iommi; he only plays SGs. It doesn't sound like Iommi [iommi didn't play on the recording, he's just miming for the camera]. Wait a second, that really IS Iommi!! Gimmie a minute, heart attack." What is this bar you speak of?

The article talks about the single young female (SYF). I think part of (besides career and other goals) the rebellion that SYFs feel against marriage and kids is that starting in the '90s, men all of a sudden were told by TV and movies to be the ones who should try to domesticate the women instead of the other way around. "Oh, I really need a girlfriend wahh wahh" "I can't believe I'm 30 and single". That is the complete opposite of the way things were done for a very long time; possibly forever. I'm sure many of you remember the '80s, '70s and before, where most men were running from women who were always trying to get them to settle down.

    That's right people. SURF OHIO
  10. Former mayor Bauer DID NOT like the Columbia project due to the fact that his wife owns the bar across the street (Richard Noggins, which runs smaller bands, mostly covers -- hell I've sat in with bands there) and was so afraid that the Columbia would steal their business. DUMBASSERY. The Columbia only helped Noggins' sales by taking over clientèle that left the Columbia after their shows were over. The Misfits or Shooter Jennings would never play at Noggin's. Hell, they wouldn't even get booked; they cost too much. Bauer's wife even got arrested for stealing traffic cones from in front of the Columbia while it was being renovated, which was one of the reasons for Bauer's recall.
  11. "Nightclubs" in Portsmouth have always turned out to be bad news, and is why so many have opened and closed shortly thereafter. Inevitably, a small portion of the more isolated locals get a little too worked up seeing all those young college girls dancing. Plain old bars and places who run bands are much better for the student population anyway. A "traditional" student environment is not what the average SSU student is seeking, and is why SSU has been able to grow so well -- through product differentiation.
  12. This is a shame. They busted their asses renovating the building. I didn't know that Robert Forrey was doing a history of the building; I had him for an English class at Shawnee about seven years ago.
  13. These guys rule. I've seen them several times.
  14. ^ Wow, I wonder when/how they filled it to develop the area.

I just moved to Oakley from Corryville and really dig it. It's relaxing, walkable, bikeable and you can take care of errands easily. Plus, I like to work on cars and motorcycles in the garage, and Oakley was built at the right time to have garages and not be a sprawley mess. Also, there many people at my age and position in life around (late 20s, early part of career), as opposed to Corryville, where I felt out of place. I guess I grew out of being around only college kids, though I didn't get tired of looking at the girls! Finally, no bums. Cincinnati needs to enforce the panhandling laws that are already on the books. Panhandling is really hurting the more central parts of city. I had to stop working on my car (something I deeply enjoy) because I wouldn't get anything done since I was forced to entertain bums. They know you aren't going to walk off with your car in a million pieces, so they just swarm.

I noticed today that Donato's prices went up. Rooster's has gone up in the past year as well.
  17. That was a very grandiose song for a news commercial.
  18. Of course they're off because of all the hard freezes in early November south of US 30. Not. I've always wondered if there is an actual cliff in Marble Cliff. I mean... it's Columbus.

You misspelled "eyesore", but the misspelling gave me a great idea for a song. I'll excuse it.

I believe the correct term is "Live, work and play".
  21. I remember Best being like a mix of Service Merchandise and Best Buy. Lots of electronics. I don't think there will be much nostalgia for Wal-Mart, except by fat chicks thinking of the days when they weighed only 200.
  22. I always like how they use the "Kids that live within 2 miles of the school lose busing" as a threat. They shouldn't be on the bus anyway! I bet there would be less sprawl and waste if kids learned the joys of walking to stuff at a young age.

Uh oh, not ultra-dangerous volatile money market accounts!
  24. There was one of those in Eastland Mall. I didn't know it was part of Woolworth's, though it was only a couple doors down.
