There's lots of good news in that video!
  2. Yes the pedal bike is by far the cheapest at $0.50 and hour (or 1/2 hour, trying to remember) whereas the other options range from $0.39 a minute up to about $0.50 a minute.
  3. I was in a presentation by Veo this week and the wider variety of vehicles targets more demographics. The footboard scooters (Astro here) in the past were most popular with males in their 20s and early 30s whereas other demos perfer something else. As they gather more data on what's popular here now that there are more choices the product distribution percentage can change from the previous mix of stand up scooters, traditional bikes and e-bikes.
  4. How many people there were actual eligible Cincinnati resident voters?
  5. The switch from high school to college can be really overwhelming and one of factors is that being responsible for coming up with 3 meals a day is tough even in adulthood with a full kitchen. Meal plans and cafeterias are good.
  6. Even with that, white people and Asians worldwide didn't have enough daughters in the past 40-50 years. They were more likely to stop having kids once they had a boy. Lots of only children that were boys unlike the first half of the 20th century where you had all of those farm girls from big families. That’s hard to recover from.
  7. Is that decline in recreational riding or commuting? Obviously recreational riding had a boom during the pandemic.
  8. They said it was a "very, very, very big fine" but how much was it really?
  9. ^I posted a nearly identical rant about too much white in the last remodel of the current terminal on CU when it happened 15 years ago or whatever.

Just another case of Republicans strangling small towns while claiming to help them by withholding funds.

  12. A couple weeks ago I decided I needed another desktop computer since my current one is 9 years old, is starting to have problems and can't be upgraded to W11. I usually prefer to buy 3-4 year old refurbished computers since I am not a Power User. Usually I shop Micro Center's web site for a couple hours then go an pick one up at their B&M on Bethel. This time around the selection of that type of computer was slim pickins'. Most of the desktops were the mini size. I prefer standard ATX size and couldn't find one I liked even at their huge store. That was a first! But then I started thinking that if I'm looking at 2021 era computers yeah that's chip shortage time. So in some ways we are still feeling that lack of capacity.
  13. Sounds similar to speculative building as seen in warehouse/light industrial but with more finishing.
  14. And now KFC corporate is getting Plano'ed just like Toyota did.
  15. People make that drive once or twice then start shopping for cheap airfares.
  16. Yanno, I wouldn't mind seeing it getting replaced with something else. I mean if it was all preserved '70s and spaceship cool inside like some other buildings I've seen elsewhere it might be worth saving but I don't think that's the case. We have nothing like that in Columbus and barely ever did.
  17. Maybe Possum Holler will bring back sit-down
  18. I remember in college when people were deciding where to move after college Columbus wasn't considered a "good value" as compared to Cincinnati because they cost about the same but Columbus didn't have the NFL.
  19. This is already shaping to be a tough year for conventions in town due to the temporary loss of space at the fairgrounds.

They definitely don't like that cops can't do anything when they smell marijuana.
  21. Yesterday's print edition of the Dispatch went into that. Intel has not unlocked much of the funding yet as they have not met their requirements. The online article is shorter but here is an excerpt: The company has received $2.2 billion of its $7.865 billion in funding as part of the federal CHIPS Incentives Program. At least $1.5 billion of that funding was set to go toward the New Albany project, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce. An agreement between Intel and the Ohio Department of Development offered the company $300 million in grants to help with the construction of each factory, as long as they were completed by the end of 2028. https://www.dispatch.com/story/news/2025/02/28/intel-ohio-chip-factory-delayed-new-albany/80732342007/ Link to Ohio's share and requirements: https://development.ohio.gov/home/news-and-events/all-news/2023-0623-ohio-announces-finalization-of-600m-onshoring-incentive-grant-agreement-with-intel

My grandmothers had so much agency at the one-room schools where they taught it was almost unbelievable. One was in Appalachian Ohio and the other was in Ventura County CA. Recently I found the rock collection that the California one used to teach geology in the 1930s.
  23. The taxiway won't cost close to $70M I don't think. It is a lot of road and utility work.

I do know that Michigan produced too much product and have heard that they had to dispose of some of it. There is speculation that some it could have wound up on the black market but I have no proof of that.
