As someone who just moved here, it's always fun seeing which parts of Cincinnati are just like Portsmouth.
  2. Can somebody tell me where the Camaro/Firebird plant was? Was it at this site? I've been driving around trying to find where it could have been.
  3. I don't care what you guys say. Tri-County has a guitar shop and a store that sells old Transformers and NES Games. It kicks ass.
  4. They changed that guy's face just enough so that Fabio couldn't sue them.
  5. This is a bit late... but does anybody know the proposed size of the downtown convention center?
  6. Portsmouth has a Sonic! I thought Sonic was based out of Charlotte, though. When a buddy of mine worked at Toyota West in Columbus, they were owned by Sonic Automotive, which in addition to owning many auto dealerships across the country, also owned Sonic Drive-In and several NASCAR tracks. The guy who owned it all's name is O. Bruton Smith.
  7. Columbus has added many hotel rooms around the Convention Center, but most of them are not upscale enough to attract high level executives and dignitaries. When looking at this situation, and the loss of attendees to shows, you have to seperate conventions and trade shows. Both were affected by Sept. 11th, but while convention attendace and the number of events has almost rebounded, most of our (I work for an expo service in town) trade shows are getting smaller. Why? The Internet. People can get much of the info they need on the website and often order online. More high-quality hotel rooms in the vicinity will have a positive effect on both conventions and trade shows, but more so on conventions.

Columbus is actually losing that status because there are too many young people and not enough Hispanics for it to be a "Snapshot of the U.S."
  9. They should have gotten Eddie Van Halen to lead the Chicken Dance back then. He'd be so drunk.
  10. What makes something a "Mart", anyway?
  11. ^Well, yeah, it's not really that tough of a song besides the sweep arpeggio part. It still sounds good. I could probably figure out almost all of it by ear since it's a progression that I am familiar with already from playing the Testament song "First Strike is Deadly". It would suck to be one of those bedroom-only guys; many musicians do have the people skills of a fire hydrant. I don't see how people are trying to say that this is some kind of brilliant "new" thing, considering nothing new has been done on guitar since about 1988 (or so) and this has nothing new. I wouldn't say it's garbage though.
  12. Sounds pretty good! It's not totally "live" because of the harmonies, but that did sound quite tasty. He's got lots of DrangonForce influence in the tone and style, and harmonizes in the same degrees that they use (sounds like minor thirds, mostly). Maybe he should look up at the camera!

  14. I'm sick of everything being so casual. People in the U.S. are getting sloppy and lazy because of it. Parties always end up in the kitchen so that people can spill booze and not worry about it. Also, that's where it's usually kept.
  15. I despise great rooms. They mean that you are in the kitchen most of the time. Great rooms even contribute to the U.S.'s massive obesity problem because you always have the fridge right there in your face.
  16. I thought 270 was 62 miles, not 55.

You could smoke at the one in Portsmouth until 2003-2004.
  18. To keep the "bus people" away, of course.
  19. Aren't FETs necessary for the speed control? Speed controllers with FETs for R/C cars start at $40 and max out around $175.
  20. Those are some revealing photos of our city as it was, and the website design makes me nostalgic for the year 1996. I also noticed how much more effort people put into their appearance in 1960.

2/9ths of a mile? What a scam. There is no way that the average person knows how many 2/9ths of a mile they have actually traveled.

Looks like Portsmouth, except for the skyscrapers.

    Yngwie Malmsteen.
  24. $310,000! And when they are totally used up, people smash them into each other on "Lucas Oil on the Edge" or run them over with a monster truck.
  25. Heh, that distracted me so much that I didn't read the rest of the article.
