I'll throw a little nugget out there -- med school should be free. What costs more to run, a med school or one elementary school? Before you say med school, think about the number of students at a med school versus an elementary.

Generally as the size of the vehicle goes up the MPG goes down and the size of the fuel tank increases to give most of them a range of 350-450 miles. Some pickup trucks can hold over 30 gallons.

My suburban town will not annex SFH over .3 of an acre because it knows it's a net negative. It's why the borders are so balkanized and it's been the city's policy for a long time. They will annex the crap out of commercial/industrial though. It even refuses to annex the large independent auto repair shop cluster on the NE side of town since the payroll taxes are too low.

That's true, Columbus is much better at retaining those folks than Cincinnati. I can think of colossal amounts of Columbus that have these types of highly-educated immigrant families (Polaris/Lewis Center, "Olentangy" as in west of ORR from North Broadway to Bethel, Bethel itself, Dublin, Bexley and then sprinkled in Berwick, the SE side, Worthington, Westerville, New Albany, Gahanna, more. Yet in Cincinnati I can't think of many clusters of this cohort at all. The Dales and Woodlawn maybe? The parts of Cincinnati most like the Columbus Cool Crescent.

Some of those are sneaky little ones I don't notice or forgot about. That is indeed just a few too many still.

The skywalk in Minneapolis is a little more necessary than here since their weather is so cold. Cincinnati built a very extensive skywalk system in the '70s only to slowly dismantle it due to changing building uses, maintenance costs and the detrimental effect on street life. The thing is, so many of these cities were incredibly vibrant in the '60s when these skywalk decisions were made that there was extra foot traffic to go around. Street life even in the '80s was really high at least during the day. Today, in a world of street life scarcity it is undesirable to split what little there is. With that said, one high line is fine. And Columbus is down to minimal skywalks anyway.
