Daylight Saving Time
Maybe the workday should be shorter in the wintertime. Even Puritanicals can get behind this since it was what was done on 1800s farms. Everybody's in a bad mood out on the roads from November to early March since they're having to engage in full commerce in total darkness. And crashes go up since you have the unusual situation of peak volume with midnight visibility.

Groveport: Developments and News
So this shifts everything around. Little Italy doesn't move into the old hot rod shop and instead goes into Wert's Grove, the candy store is a no-go, the burger and chicken place's plans don't change, the idea of bakery/coffee that was proposed for one of the new buildings takes over the current Little Italy (probably at a much lower rent than an all-new space in the new buildings would be). Or is the burger and chicken place out too? Oh and only the medical practices are going into 325 Main with the rest of the mixed use on hold.

Groveport: Developments and News
Aw, just as they fixed the rear exit of the old one so that you couldn't accidentally faceplant while leaving. It was like that ever since I was a little kid playing Smash TV while waiting on my pizza.

You can get a folding grocery dolly or little red wagon to walk larger amounts of groceries home.

Sun's gonna come up pretty late in the Winter under this system. Almost 9AM around January 1st.

Columbus: Harrison West: Thurber Village Developments and News
^There is a dollar store near me but it is further than the Kroger plus you have to sit through three more 3-4 phase lights each way so it's not helping the convenience factor at all. And I've never seen much I really want in them.

It suxxxxxxx not having something like a Wallgreens or CVS around. I have to go to Kroger for everything.
-
Columbus: Harrison West: Thurber Village Developments and News
CVS wouldn't have been original since they weren't in this market in 1994 as far as I know. It could have been whoever they bought out to get into this market like SupeRX, Rexall or whatever.

CVS fights good urbanism tooth and nail if they can. I remember Kunstler (before he jumped the shark) did a whole podcast about this one time a CVS was forced to do a two-story building by a city's zoning code. Instead of doing a traditional storefront downstairs with apartments or office above (even if they sat empty!) or even a two-story store the did some weird thing where they put the store on the second story with these long ramps leading up to the door and some low-level half-basement use like storage and a walk-in ATM -- not other stores or apartments. Oh, found it! https://www.flickr.com/photos/nnecapa/2899606283

Cleveland: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame News & Discussion
Young people today don't like to think of music in "genres". They kind of look at it as a whole but recognize the influence of particular genres on the song as a whole.

Canal Winchester: Developments and News
Canal isn't like Groveport, Obetz or northern Pickaway where everyone's like "Bring on the warehouses!" so it surprises me a bit when someone signs on through all the opposition. But! It's probably cheaper to rent in Canal since you don't have to pay for direct access to the Rickenbacker intermodal or have train tracks go directly into your building like Whirpool has at Lockbourne.

Columbus: Scioto Peninsula Developments and News
Since we're no longer flooded with Orca imagery from Sea World commercials like we were in the '80s and '90s there is a hunger for them.

Obetz: Developments and News
Obviously the goal is that eventually the whole "Crescents" concept goes away.

Obetz: Developments and News
It's hard to compare experiences since I was there 10-20 years before you. Like they only went up to 4th grade then which was out in the trailer. No new building of course, just the one with the tabernacle and the trailer. I don't even know if it's the same trailer but I think so.

You mean they lost too much money even for Amazon? How does something do that?

Obetz: Developments and News
They didn't teach me about dinosaurs at Madison Christian. When I got to another school they handed me a book about dinosaurs and said, "You're way behind on these." The other kids were like, "Dude, dinosaurs are the coolest!"

Obetz: Developments and News
Frankly, land is getting too expensive in the Cool Crescent to do large-scale development where the houses aren't all $600K plus and the rents aren't all $1500+ for a 2br. Not everyone insists on a top-5 school district or can afford to be in one.

GCrites replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionProbably because it's in Franklinton. Ginther is really big on neighborhoods that need the most help and thinks Downtown, Victorian Village, the SN etc. are "doing fine".

Obetz: Developments and News
Huh? Wow! I mean, the entire Uncool Crescent is horribly under-retailed currently.

GCrites replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionDidn't DeWine specifically mention the North Market Tower as the kind of development most likely to get selected?
