has anyone heard anything about this project? I walk by it everyday and wish someone would do something with this beautiful building I did notice that on Wednesday it appeared someone was in the building b/c the lobby lights were on. Couldn't tell for sure what was going on. There are also notices of water disconnect hung on the front

From what I've heard via people at Corporex it's mostly funding at this point - if they had enough money committed I'm sure they could push the RT8 fixes through.

I've wondered the same, however I do think its a nice feature and it's really not much worse than the outdoor seating that takes up the sidewalk in front of Hamburger Mary's

a movie theatre downtown would be awesome - i think another grocery store would be nice, although luckily we're a couple blocks from the vine st kroger and walking distance to findlay will be moving to OTR in about a week, we're the ones who bought the last unit in mottainai :)

just found this after wondering what was up with 617 Vine - bad news, but then again MED would have screwed this project up beyond belief - would be better off in the hands of someone else (Northpointe gets my vote) doesn't MED also own the lot across from 4th & Plum? feel bad for MED property residents, but the idiots that run that company had it coming

when i lived on 4th, i never really felt unsafe my car was broken into once, but i never felt unsafe. i'd go walk around at night, no problem. in corryville, it felt a bit unsafe to walk at night. there were some legitimate reasons for that, at the time there was a rash of robberies and muggings at night. you could go out at night, but you were taking a chance if you walked too far from home (although it depended what direction you walked). obviously, mariemont is pretty safe. the biggest danger is a tree might fall on you i'm not sure where otr fits in relation to those areas, lately at least.

there's a chance i may be moving again, sometime soon. life's always full of up's and down's and probably with 6 months i'll figure out whether it's up or down this time. anyway, i live in mariemont right now. have lived in corryville, and downtown cbd (4th street @ kinsey flats). if i end up making, yet another move, i'll probably focus back on downtown cincinnati. out of everywhere i think that worked out the best for me. i've been seeing a lot going on in the 'gateway quarter' and it looks like its really cool, and actually really affordable (which is hard to say about much in the cbd). does anyone here live there though? is it safe? i know otr is improving, but has it improved that much? during the day it seems perfectly fine, but at night it used to be pretty sketchy. its been a couple years since i've been down there at night though. anyway, if anyone lives down there i'd like to hear what's its like these days

so are all of the windows fixed? the only windows you can open are the garage doors? one of the things i liked when i lived on 4th @ kinsey was being able to open the huge windows and let a breeze in and take in all the crazy sounds of downtown. you'd think they'd have some openable windows on the 4th street side of the building

too bad, maybe i was just hoping that the walmart sign was gone so my brain ignored seeing it. the improvements to redbank are indeed nice, and while a shopping center might be nice there, the whole walmart thing sort of ruins it

Yeah, I'd like to go take a second look, but I didn't see the walmart sign this am. There was a sign about the 'future home of ...' and a photo of a new office building. The other possibility is they're just advertising the new office space instead of the shopping complex that seems to be on an infinite delay.

they took down all the signage at the site about walmart, looks like they are now turning it into a class A office development instead of a shopping center

personally i like the mix of historic and contemporary stuff on the same block, adds some life to the area. the slanted roof was also a much better look, had a nice flow and worked well with the convention center and stadium skyline. you'd think a slanted roof would be viewed as more sound than a flat one in terms of drainage, etc.

i love those garage-style doors. how are the seals on them? pretty weather tight?

would be nice if some of these new projects included more affordable condos, like in the 200k range so people can actually afford something without hemorrhaging their bank accounts. after all the fallout with this mortgage stuff you'd think developers would realize they're just encouraging this pattern of living in debt. i think condos 200-400k would work out well in mariemont and stay somewhat in line with existing housing prices. doesn't make sense to me that they're building condos that cost quite a bit more than most of the houses in mariemont. some more street level retail would be nice around the square as well, what we already have is nice, but some new stuff would be great as well. pricing aside, the new griewe stuff does look nice and i'm glad they're trying to blend stuff with the old. i do feel bad for the houses around jordan park though, that thing towers over everything on miami & east st.

I drive through columbia-tusculum on the way home, and actually looked at a house on walworth at one point. I totally agree that this project would have an extreme impact on the current residents of that road. Its already pretty insane (narrow, cars on the street, etc). Adding 75 more condos and probably double that number in terms of cars/traffic, good luck. They'd have to re-work that entire intersection and redo (and widen) walworth to make this project successful.

after looking at the drawings a bit more the new roof definitely helps the building out a bit. looks nice, i bet those will be cool units on top. too bad about the loss of a possible roofdeck though.

would have been great to have a tgif when i was living on 4th st. thats the real issue when you live downtown, the lack of things open past 5 or 6, and the lack of a grocery store. tgif would do well down there

does anyone know what the deal is with this development? the work on redbank is pretty much done, and it looks like all the parking lot/infrastructure is pretty much done at the site, but there's been no real movement on the shops or whatever else is going there. some of the office buildings are up, but the rest is just sitting there collecting dust.

i'd be watching MED like a hawk, anyone with prior experience with these guys probably isn't shocked by them changing plans mid-way, the delays and the lack of detail, such as the stuff with the electrical boxes. they're idea of a 'completed' project is getting it about 90% there, then finishing the last 10% over the next 5 years or so. after seeing what mark went through next to the CAC with them, there's no way i'd trust them with my cash. my girlfriend ran into one of our old neighbors from kinsey next door (who is still there, pending a move to nyc), and they still haven't fixed the leaking ceilings or flooding garage from when we lived there (2 years ago!!) good luck man. definitely a cool building, i hope they get their crap together though for the sake of everyone moving in there.

the new renderings are pretty amazing looking. my previous comments weren't to say that this development wasn't wanted. if anything, i'm jealous b/c i can't afford to live there! i live in mariemont, which is extremely nice, but i just see all these new condo's and i wonder where the money is coming from. yeah, we want high scale developments, but from all the stuff being built it just seems like we're building on one end of the scale, and not much else. its like if you can't afford 400k+, you have to look elsewhere. i know a few dip under that scale (parker flats, etc), but not many do

the walmart nightmare aside, i hope some other useful shops/restaurants move in. would be nice to have a place to run quick errands from mariemont. similar to bridgewater falls in fairfield township. my parents live up there and being able to run around the corner to best buy or the rather large list of retailers up there is really nice

do we really need more half million dollar + condos? is that all developers can build anymore? building does look cool, but its beyond me how people are affording this stuff being built around town. would be nice if the rest of us could afford to buy into one of these projects

not to mention, they're right next door to graeters. which could be dangerous.. i live on the other end of the square, off beech st and we've found we're too close to graeters for our own good, i can't imagine living right next to it :)

more info at last - first of all, the project itself is named 'Jordan Park'. I'm not sure if its actually been called in that in any of the articles we have here, but that's whats plastered all over the site off Miami Rd. Sibcy Cline is the real estate rep for the project, more info @ http://www.sibcycline.com/jordanpark, so far there's not really much there. A tiny rendering and the logo for the project is up. Hopefully more will come along soon. And last but not least, I finally got over to the site and shot some photos. These aren't the best though b/c as I snapped the first shot, my battery started to die, so forgive the poor quality. I was trying to get as many shots in as I could before the battery died. Mostly footers being poured and some foundation forms are in place. By the dept of it, it seems like there will be only 1 level of parking, thats assuming all parking will be below street grade. I'll keep an eye on it and try to update photos when there is something more to look at
