  1. I love everything except the street widening and parking garages. This area has such an opportunity to prioritize transit and humans instead of cars.
  2. Can they turn it into a public space / park in the meantime and plant some trees like the nice maturing ones shown in the image above?
  3. ^thank god our acclaimed and accredited expert on all world topics weighed in and shared their view (which is different than 98% of those who study the topics). But go on
  4. Lol this is so on brand for you. As state above the winner take all approach of our elections, along with the senate & electoral college only give conservatives a huge handicap. It’s the exact opposite of a representative democracy. If we (like other more accountable, functioning, less extreme) democracies let the parties get representations (at the various levels) proportionally based on their % of votes I think that would solve a lot of the mess. It would probably anger some, but we all know why that is (they prefer their theocracy).
  5. ^yes legislators whose makeup is a direct reflection of gerrymandered maps, that’ll really reflect the true intent of Ohioans…… not
  6. Completely agree with the above reviews, I especially liked the W25 complete street slide. That street is a perfect candidate for a dedicated and segregated bike lane.
  7. I apologize for not knowing this, but is the number and composition (1bedroom, 2 bedroom, etc) of units known?
  8. Hope those of us in favor of density can also organize and show our support.
  9. Assume this means more salary taxes will for Cleveland, which is great. Rockside has stolen enough from the city and encouraged too much sprawl. just frustrating that the land in independence that the current practice facility is now on (to the best of my knowledge) was a wooded parcel. So we lost the mature tree canopy for a short term move. Smh
  10. ^That’s exactly what I (won’t speak for others) am saying. If you look at our constant non-stop increases to police spend and are okay with that, great for you. Please just don’t try to complain or care about any other spending. There are some great officers on the force, full stop. But there are some god awful ones as well. Overall the profession has unlimited resources which has been shown over the past couple years.
  11. In my weekday experience they are at least 4 deep at tower city. I can say that I’ve never seen one alone and that there is always at least two of them. not trying to be argumentative just providing my weekday anecdotal experience.
  12. Yeah imagine how much more affordable fares would be if we didn’t waste sooo much money on the transit police, the insanely wasteful staffing levels, and the luxurious cars. Classic Ohio smh
  13. We can say what we want about the quality and/or architecture of the justice center. But it was a very efficient and smart move to have all of those facilities next to one another.
  14. It’s amazing the users who want to “protect democracy” but are against higher voter turnout, support the gerrymandered maps, etc. I know plenty of early 30s voters in greater cle and Cbus who are showing up more often due to the extreme GOP antics going on to prevent a dumpster fire like TX/FL. Personally, with my wife and I being remote if this state becomes like those we will 100% move to PA/MI.
  15. Is the current crane height roughly equal to final height of the tower?
  16. ^perfectly said. I think the others (like the account you quoted) only worry about themselves and are content if they get out just fine.
  17. Imagine thinking that private schools and self segregating policies are beneficial for society. Look at the leading states in these areas (mostly the southern states) and their student results. The best states for public schools (NJ, etc) are the best states for students and teachers. I miss the separation of church and state when I we didn’t have to pay. For “theology” and classes that teach creationism. Lol Ohio
  18. Such an on brand reaction for the privatize everything and my religion is the only religion caucus. Anecdotal, but I’ve had multiple friends with remote jobs move to MI in recent months due to the chaos and Florida trend lines here. Both have young children about to be school age. I would argue that states like Michigan are increasing their broader appeal to wider swaths of the population instead of cutting taxes for the top 1%.
  19. Thank you for the thoughtful response. And in this case it’s my understanding you support our tax dollars supporting that 40% regardless? Very interesting perspective to socialize the cost for these students. I guess conservatives are okay with socialism when it directly benefits them and their specific religion?
  20. I can respect and appreciate all of the views being shared here but I keep coming back to one question. If we go to a vouchers and Catholic school for all, does that increase our education performance? Probably not if you look at states like Florida. If everyone gets to self segregate into their own private schools, and what happens to those left behind? Is it the screw them mentality? Or what how do we create an education system that includes and advances students that some of you described as “behavioral distractions”? The biggest problem is the way Ohio public schools are funded, giving the least to those that need the most. But those craving religious/charter schools I doubt care about (would love to be wrong here and could be). I’m truly interested to hear if vouchers for all and erase all public schools is really the better option here?
  21. Hopefully added density and improvements to Van Alen/Shaker Square will delay any need for added levies. I think a lot of residents would be okay pulling their own trash cans up and going to the county library system. Two cost savings there ?
  22. As someone who would love to move to shaker (from lakewood) when kids are of school age. Do these projects have any chance of leading to eventually lowering the property tax/income tax rate in SH?
  23. Yes I should have clarified, thank you.
  24. All I’ll say is I have a source very, very close to this who thinks it will not stay in cleveland and has various reasons as to why. I hate this decision just as much as anyone and think it is beyond stupid.
