  1. The floors above la Normandie are indeed vacant. They were always a part of the old Maisonette/La Normandie complex. As for condos, they are awfully narrow for that. That building is only 15' or so wide.
  2. for vegetarian food you can't beat Korean Riverside.
  3. Sibcy Cline has a HUGE chunk of Eastern Ave/Riverside Drive for sale for $7,900,000 http://www.sibcy.com/viewlisting.asp?mls=1118539&b=CIN&p=LOTL&s=ACRG&m=1&sender=SearchResults&a=0-Riverside-Dr-East-End-OH-45202 What's that all about? was this the DCI project?
  4. From what I understand, they are delayed a little bit. The same guys opened the old rookwood pottery space (which opened for lunch just this morning)
  5. Cincinnati (and the banks project in particular) could learn a lot from what Baltimore did to their waterfront in the 80's. They turned that city around.
  6. yep! In addition to the building at the corner, they have made some headway on a building on the opposite end of the lot. they just tore down a house (or two) next to Stanley's and have started a foundation / walls for a building right behind their lot.

I have an old gen iPhone and was one of the many impatient people trying frantically to upgrade to the 2.0 software. The difference in the actual software isn't really all that big but the applications that you can now get with 2.0 are absolutely incredible. It's like I've been carrying around a nintendo wii in my pocket for months - and it just now decided to start working.
  8. From what I understand, it's closed and reopening with new owners before long
  9. they stopped including the tip in their prix fixe about two years ago.
  10. I have heard that Boi na Braza was for sale. Perhaps just a rumour but I heard it none the less.

    Wow. That's really cool
  12. Yeah, Let's all remember that Bill Butler and NKY actually have a riverfront - not just 20 years of talking about one.
  13. I stopped by there the other day and just walked in. I wanted to buy a giftcard for my hubby's birthday, and they were like come back in three weeks and we can sell you one. I was like no thanks, I can just take my business elsewhere. Not a great first impression. I mean I was willing to hand them $50 and they don't have the logistics set up to take it? The decor on the inside looked really great though. Maybe I will go in for a drink while I punish them for not selling me a giftcard. :) Most restaurants that I've opened haven't had the gift certificates (or software now that gift-cards are more common) ready 3 weeks prior to opening. You shouldn't fault them for not being able to sell it to you. That being said, I sure as hell would've gotten your information and made arrangements for when I COULD sell you one.
  14. I noticed that 476 Strafer is listed on sibcycline's web site today as vacant land. http://www.sibcycline.com/viewlisting.asp?mls=1107448&b=CIN&p=LOTL&s=SFML&m=0&sender=SearchResults note that the listing says: "Great opportunity. Located in the heart of Columbia Tusculum. Also available are lots located at: 428,430,432,434,436,438,440, 442,444,446,448,450,452,454,456,458, 460,462,464,466,468,470,472,474: individually priced at $50,000 each." Is this project getting scrapped?
  15. Also, doesn't the parkway seem to have narrower lanes than normal highways? And don't forget it's not a divided highway. Couldn't they make the US 50 truck route follow 275 at least to Kellog?
  16. It seems to me (and I lived on Eastern for 4 years - still have the house now as a rental) that There is nowhere for the hillbillies that live there to go. Many of them have lived on that street their whole lives and aren't going anywhere soon. I always thought the biggest thing that could be done to help Eastern Ave. was to move the truck route. It currently is the US 50 Truck Route from the Eastern Ave Exit all the way to downtown. As a result, there is heavy truck traffic in the daytime - not exactly a neighborhood builder
  17. They've started doing a "Classic" tasting too - all the most popular of their dishes. $75 for 5 courses and another $35 for wine pairings if you're interested. That is in addition to the Grand tasting (which is no longer actually on the menu) The dress is anything from nice jeans and a collared shirt to full on suits.
  18. I have been considering moving to North Avondale for a while (mostly because of the ridicuous housing stock) and I can't really tell if the neighborhood is getting better, worse or just staying stagnant. What is the trend?
  19. I was at Via Vite tonight too. The windows are quadruple hung -- the bottom ones go all the way up to the very top. Something I havent really seen before. They also appear to be made of (gasp) wood! The food was good. The Bolognese was good, the pepperonata side was REALLY good. I had another friend there tonight (at a different table) who was raving about the lamb.
  20. That I don't know. Gary Osterfeld owns those sites, but no plans have been announced to expand the development or anything. I'd bet he's holding on to it to have it developed for commercial uses when demand arises. Alexus Development has bought some sites a little farther up the hill, just up from the cul-de-sac and across from the houses I pictured. I'd bet on some new homes there. Alexus also bought 418-420 Mcdowell St. on the next street over. It backs up to their property on Strafer. They tore it down a month or so ago. It was the last abandoned house in that whole neighborhood I believe, (certainly the last on that street) and far past saving. I believe they plan a couple houses there. Perhaps similar to the Stanley Cove project they did. As for the bottom of Strafer, I had heard Gary wanted a two story office building down there eventually but I haven't heard anything for quite some time.
  21. Isn't that a bit redundant? Actually, No. Bolognese refers to a particular meat sauce from the city of Bologna in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy. It is usally a ragu of pork, veal, beef, mortadella and chicken livers made with soffrito, white wine, cream and tomato. Bolognese is meat sauce but not all meat sauce is Bolognese.
  22. Yeah, There is an alleyway that runs behind all the houses and they all have two car garages. Has anyone heard what is going to be done at the bottom of strafer on the other side of the street? it is currently a big dug out sink hole.
  23. Nada should be open mid November. I've had some of the food and it is unbelievable. I can't wait.
