Cleveland SC Soccer Stadium
I kinda think they buried the lead here on the press conference. The real news is the bid for NWSL expansion. That is top-flight soccer on the world-stage. That is exciting. Also, the fact that the owner-guy gave out lots of free beer and pizza was pretty sick. But... I have no idea why proclaiming Cleveland as a peer-city with MLS Next Pro expansion teams in Huntsville, AL and High Point, NC had to be a part of this process. Particularly since we wouldn't enter the league until 2025. I certainly hope long-term our main rivals aren't Columbus' and Cincinnati's reserve squads.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Irishtown Bend Park
A bit of ignorance here: Are any of these court appointments electable offices? If not, who appoints these offices? How do we the people make sure George family shills like Sutula do not hold positions of power?

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
They've done an excellent job this time around with the single-tracking. Setting expectations with the alert, but its been exactly on time the past two weeks during the work. Another side note from all this doom and gloom: I'm seeing more and more people taking the train. Pretty good numbers coming out of pandemic.

I hope the "bike route" is not just sharrows. Kinda nebulous, but hey anything is better than Carter road's present state.

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
Just a speculation, if they build fast and get done before some projects across the river they may be able to fill the building before supply is flooded?

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
Just saw the tidbit about only 5 parking spaces but 30 bike spaces. That is a phenomenal precedent to set. I know some people that are up-in-arms about this, but it frankly makes no sense. If you're don't want to live there why would it matter how many spaces are available?

Yeah, I can see that. However, I'm of the opinion that they could paint the right lanes as dedicated bus/emergency vehicle lanes through that stretch with very little additional construction (probably none). It seems they just didn't want to. I'm guessing the reason being probably what StapHanger said. I really think that would be low-hanging fruit if they are serious about improving the convenience of Healthline service.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Does anyone know why the Healthline corridor has dedicated bus lanes all the way from PS until Stokes but lose priority afterward? The UH and Case area have the most congestion and would benefit the most from dedicated bus lanes. Did a particular group advocate against it? Or was there some other reason to drop lanes there? Its kind of ridiculous to continually see a "BRT" stuck in traffic at rush hours.

Cleveland: Scranton Peninsula: Development and News
There was actually a lot of discussion along this end. As RMB said, thats thunderbird group's property. Haviland of Flats Forward seems to be coordinating things in some capacity. Because it was not entirely clear how that would work between developers, it was suggested that someone needs to take the lead and oversee it. Aside from that, Fluker and McCormormick were adamant that multi-modal transportation (e.g. greenway trail connections, electric vehicle parking, ride share drop-off, etc) be carefully planned. I think there was an "asterisks" on the approval along those lines. They seem keen on not Fing this up.

Adding 1000 cars to the area is really going to require some thought. Have any of these developers ever seen the intersection of Carter and Columbus Rd. when the bridge is up? This volume will add to what already is an absolute disaster. But thus far, I have heard no discussion along that regard. I honestly don't know whose responsibility that will be.

Cleveland: Scranton Peninsula: Development and News
Yeah that's kinda my thoughts. I had unrealistic expectations. At least Carter Rd. will have sidewalks 🤷♂️. It will be interesting to see how this impacts the intersection at Columbus and Carter. When the bridge is up its already an absolute sh*tshow. I could envision a situation where that actually improves from this development provide they design thoughtfully.

Cleveland: Scranton Peninsula: Development and News
I see the vision of Thunderbird has now fully shifted from "dense, intentional city neighborhood, designed for the next 100 years with authentic intimate spaces, timeless but aspirational architecture, intriguing pedestrian corridors and a unique waterfront featuring a multimodal riverside trail and public park" to "campus housing style apartments for people who drive expensive cars". It sure is hard being a dreamer.

Cleveland: Random Quick Questions
I'm still confused about how it works. But long story short: because of HB920, even if the appraisal gets substantially increased, the taxes do not.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Actually had this choice yesterday. Going from stokes and euclid to 19th and euclid. 9 and healthline showed up back to back. Between the stretch the healthline is obviously much faster because it's a direct line. New busses are really nice and were actually getting to stops EARLY and being forced to wait on the timetable. I wonder if they simply don't have enough new busses to update the schedule for a faster trip through the corridor? If that were the case it seems you could have maybe every other trip be a "healthline express" (but still serving all the stops). I also wonder if accessibility plays any factor. I've had many trips where the largest delays were getting wheelchairs on/off.

Cleveland: Duck Island: Development and News
It's not. In fact, there's so much street parking that people often park here to go to WSM and even Browns games.
