New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)
I believe they've already designated this site for military chip production, too. The social media outage moan pages love to paint a picture of any type of delay, or something some guy placing cones in a parking lot at the site said about not getting paid by their sub contractor who is a sub for another sub of Bechtel, into PROOF that the project will stop. They want it to fail so bad that any type of news that fits their narrative turns into that outcome. Let's take a step back further from just the Intel plant construction. The EPA has marching orders from the higher ups to allow packaged sewer plants to be used in the county to keep development from being hindered by the lack of sewer systems in the area. This is almost unheard of at this scale and is also an indicator of just how serious this ENTIRE project is. Someone upset that the farmland, that they didn't own, and liked driving by every on the way to work is now a construction site can piss and moan all they want on Facebook, but it's not going to change anything at all. This is a national security issue and is getting the backing that comes along with that.

Newark: Developments and News
Airsup replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThat's all Owens Corning land and was used for dumping and testing. When the golf course was for sale a few years ago, one of the potential buyers wanted to put houses on it and learned the hard way that's not happening. One of the biggest concerns about Intel and development tapping into the Granville area aquifer is because there's a toxic plume trapped there now from illegal dumping from another past company. There's a lot of pollution history there covered up by green fields.

Newark: Developments and News
Airsup replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionFrom what I understand, most of the land in and around the golf course is old landfill, so no, it's not prime for residential development. That's why it's left to light use.

Newark: Developments and News
Airsup replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI think a majority of those "next level rotten eggs" are in the surrounding townships, now. It's mind boggling how self centered they are and good at manipulating their neighbors into thinking that their selfish desires are good for the community.

Newark: Developments and News
Airsup replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionSounds to me like they are doing the right things but have to constantly deal with a troublemaker who wants to still wield power but is no longer a mayor or a council person. Not having a comprehensive plan is just plain dumb.

If you're talking about the lithography machines, then those are most likely coming from ASML in the Netherlands.

Airsup replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionAgreed = when I read about this yesterday that was my same thought. There should be at least two more units on each row. Why have all of this public space when each unit has a "lot" proportion that is almost suburban level comparative to the structure size.? There's a cost in maintaining all of that green space that someone has to pay for, so what's more important? Housing people or a 4 bench plaza?

Newark: Developments and News
Airsup replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt will be nice to have a fast casual option out here. And since Chipotle's seem to have a 3 year life cycle of opening and being awesome to being a meme on a local Reddit, I look forward to a window of time for good burritos. The new Sever 4 Zero looks promising, too. Any thing, even shingles, would be better than the Knucklehead's experience and owners.

Licking County: Developments and News
Airsup replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe large plot of land directly adjacent to the east is the one to watch. They are bending over backwards to maintain the trees, the hills, and everything that makes that piece of land beautiful. The roads and homes are adjusting to the landscape and not the other way around. Scenic View Estates.

I can't speak for why they don't do multi-story DC's, but it's something that is done - you just don't see them. There's one in one of the Metro Place buildings in Dublin, right along 270, taking up multiple floors. I'm sure it probably has to do with cooling if I had to take a guess.

Licking County: Developments and News
Airsup replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI've been involved in the meetings with Framework for over a year now. They are simply 1 of many competing groups producing plans for the area, which ultimately, have no real effect on any municipalities activities. What Framework has been is a good source of data for development and population trends and expectations. A lot of it is just "pie in the sky". You can have all of the plans and maps you want, but the real development of western Licking county is going to be dictated by those who control the water. And if you look at how shady and underhanded Southwest Licking County Water and Sewer District has been, no just lately but also historically, they have no intention or desire to cooperate with these plans like the ones produced by Framework. They are only interested in more customers and revenue at any cost.

Since I first heard about this, I've always been curious about how they'll maintain it - remove the stuff that's inevitably going to get caught in there. Like airborne trash, an intentional shoe, or a dead bird.

It's time to rename the building to Cuesta Verde Tower. "Oh, don't worry about it. After all, it's not ancient tribal burial ground. It's just people. Besides, we've done it before."

Reynoldsburg: Developments and News
Last night, I saw that the old Kroger on Main St was being demolished. It's been years since I've heard about any redevelopment of that site, and wonder if anyone here has heard anything? Last I had heard, it was owned by a partnership with connections to Bill Schottenstein, so I don't have high hopes for anything positive happening there.

Airsup replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Constructionhttps://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/news/local/granville/2023/04/26/denison-asks-to-annex-31-acres-into-granville-for-faculty-housing/70138772007/ It's nice to see Denison stepping into address some of the affordable housing issues in the area for their staff. "Granville Village Council members last week heard a proposal from Denison University to build up to 70 housing units for faculty on 31 acres of university land on New Burg Street across from Granville High School’s baseball field." " In the 1990s and early 2000s, we averaged 40-50% of our employees living in ZIP code 43023. In 2010-2019, that dropped down to 39%. In 2023, for the people we hired through April, it's 28%," he said. Denison plans to build the housing units in phases, with up to 30 units coming in the first phase. Some will be townhomes and others will be single-family homes ranging from one to three bedrooms, depending on the needs of future residents. The units will front on a common green space with vehicle access in the rear, said Granville resident Keith Myers, who is a landscape architect working with Denison on the project."
