Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
I'm personally not interested in goodwill but it sounds like an effort was made to find a better fit. I'd have to imagine grocery stores wouldn't want to be right next to a school either. Tons of issues with snacks being stolen and loitering. There's tons of room for demolition of old homes and buildings along Lorain. Hopefully in time a larger format grocery store will make sense as the southern portion of the neighborhood becomes more desirable.

There are still so many infill lots and homes that need to be demolished in the Detroit Shoreway neighborhood when compared to Ohio City. The plus side of these buildings not being humongous is that it will result in faster development between Franklin and Lorain where it is needed most. The Ohio City portion of this span is so much further along. The Lorain Midway cannot come soon enough that is what will really solidify the neighborhood imo. The development by the lake is great but the southern portion of our neighborhood is still a ghetto (just being factual based on crime, poverty, and blight not trying to be rude or offensive).

Trader Joe's would be a great replacement for the Rite Aid. While the location is a bit more inner city than TJs usually skews it would give them access to higher income residents in Lakewood, Ohio City, Edgewater, and Detroit Shoreway. And from the community perspective the prices are relatively affordable as far as grocery stores go. I'd argue an Aldi makes more sense for the immediate demographic but there are two within a 5-10 minutes drive already. TJs you have to go at least 20 minutes from any of the aforementioned neighborhoods.

I tried to reach out to the CDC about a pocket park that has been severely vandalized on my block but they never responded. I was offering to help with cleanup too. Am I allowed to just start working on it myself? It's a rougher part of Detroit Shoreway and I feel like allowing it to sit covered in graffiti just sends a message that nobody gives a ****.

Is Dudley Triangle still going to be a thing? In the 2016 masterplan for the neighborhood there was an emphasis on creating a southern anchor point closer to Lorain. With the Lorain Midway (hopefully) happening it seems like a no brainer to invest more in the neglected southern part of Detroit Shoreway.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
Hello new here. I'm considering buying a home in the southwest portion of the neighborhood and stumbled upon the 2015/2016 master plan for this specific portion of the neighborhood. The plan was ambitious but unfortunately not much seems to have materialized. There's a pocket park on Dudley and I think that's about it. Highlights: - Central streetscape "Dudley Triangle" similar to Gordon Square - Revitalize Lorain Ave with Antiques area as anchor - Turn alleys into attractive green walkways - Murals similar to Gordon Square area - Additional pocket park on 83rd with pathway to the Library Is there any intention to fulfill this plan and create a southern compliment to Gordon Square? Was the area deamed beyond rehabilitation? Hope it's appropriate to post this question here. Thanks!
