  1. Hmmmm.. could be anything. According to Wikipedia, US Bank Mortgage is a major employer there--#2 on the list with 1500 employees. Maybe something to do with that....Acquiring or selling or merging home mortgage depts or something? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Owensboro,_Kentucky#Top_employers
  2. ^If UA and CO didn't merge, CLE's LHR/LGW and CDG flights would still be around. Cincinnati lost a lot of flights when DL and NW merged and Detroit and MSP won. CVG never got those flights back. CLE's lost flights are a result of industry issues, not the city's faults.
  3. Windows are a little too big as well.
  4. Also, the two Iceland routes offered 9x per week between the two. Yes, two carriers bring competition and thus stimulate the market but it wasn't like CLE-NYC---it was a thin market to begin with. But as@LibertyBlvdsaid, it was ultimately external factors that did them in and unfortunately affected both carriers---the Max8 grounding for Icelandair and going out of business and ceasing all routes for Wow.
  5. Sorry--I wasn't bashing Columbus, LOL! I'm from Columbus and I love Columbus. I was just responding to @E Roccwho made a comment about Columbus trying to steal the new Aer Lingus route from Cleveland. What I was saying was, they're both great cities, but Cleveland is definitely more 'big city' and Columbus is more 'small town' vibe. And both have their benefits and drawbacks. Neither is "better" than the other, but appeal to different people, but Cleveland can surely sustain a TATL flight, while I don't think Columbus, my home town, could.
  6. I'm from Columbus and I love Columbus. But after having moved to Cleveland I can tell you now that Columbus isn't half the city that Cleveland is. This flight will do fine. CMH wouldn't be able to support a TATL flight.
  7. The new CLE-Dublin flights are official!: "Sept 28, 2022: New non-stop Cleveland-Dublin flights are offered on Aer Lingus. Service begins on Friday, May 19, 2023. Flights are 4x weekly departing both CLE and DUB on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays...." https://www.centerforcleveland.org/cleveland. (scroll down to "Newsworthy")
  8. @Oldmanladyluck. I found it. It is Ord. No. 482-2022.
  9. That's cool. Looking at the link from City Council, why is this an "EMERGENCY Ordinance"? I don't get it.
  10. I said Downtown, not the full city. The new mayor reduced the incentives around property tax abatement for new development or new rehabs in Downtown and certain other neighborhoods like Ohio City to try to drive development to other areas as if Downtown was fully developed and didn't need anymore housing. Not the smartest move by a long shot.
  11. I drove by it last weekend and didn't see any updates unfortunately.
  12. Don't hold your breath. The current administration actually pushed through legislation that will hurt residential development Downtown. If they use that kind of brilliance on the office market, don't expect any improvements there, but maybe a boost for the I-271 corridor.
  13. This would be one cool concert venue if its all one big room inside!
  14. But its not. UC can't just swallow up anything around it---nor should it. All neighborhoods should be vibrant. And yes, there should be cohesion and walkability between them so that its like one big active city.
  15. Thanks. I guess "Greater UC" makes sense here. Neighborhoods will lose their distinction if they just keep growing and growing to include anything booming around it. UC ends at E. 105th. Pushing it all the way to E. 86th St or wherever, just to claim the employees of the Cleveland Clinic doesn't seem right. Your argument makes sense though if we say "Greater UC".
  16. Maybe the bldg is nice, but it looks very remote and empty around it. "This 44-story skyscraper has been designed from the ground up to serve as a key thoroughfare connecting our lakefront and cultural amenities with our downtown. The project includes public plazas and parks, pedestrian bridges and a new lakefront stop for the proposed streetcar." Is Milwaukee's Downtown not on the lakefront? Or is it like Cleveland--where it is on the lakefront but there are many issues getting to it!?
  17. ^That could totally be in Midtown. But if they sent it out to all the suburbs it may be where they really want to be without saying it. They would get better talent though if its in Midtown then in that crappy office park hell along 271.
  18. Can someone post a copy or link to the RFP? Thanks.
  19. Interesting article, but it doesn't make complete sense. If Cleveland Clinic is 40,000 employees, that leaves 40,000 in University Circle. If Downtown has 100,000 employees, then UC is nowhere near taking over Downtown as the largest job hub. The article itself states that Cleveland Clinic is not part of University Circle.
  20. I dunno. How accurate is their data or how useful is it to project their data to the full market? According to them Columbus had more outflow than inflow---so if we use this data as part of the broader trend, Columbus lost people. And although I myself just moved from there to CLE, I have personally seen more people coming into to Columbus than leaving. Metro - Leads Out. - Leads In. - Difference. - Lead Delta Columbus OH. 50,503. 42,376 -8,127. -8.75% Cleveland-Akron (Canton) OH. 72,320. 82,297. 9,977. 6.45%
  21. Alley Cat is great! And you can sit outside. If you can't get a reservation, there are a few new places just down the boardwark---Jade an asian place and a barbeque place also.

Wow--that was great. I was hoping for a homerun just now--we would have had 9 runs in the 8th!

So much for freedom of the press, huh Republicans? Censorship? controlling content? The GOP is really trying to destroy this country.
