Columbus: Scioto Peninsula Developments and News
columbus17 replied to StuFoote's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionYes, that one. Their architects need their licenses examined. They try so painfully hard to value engineer buildings that they end up costing more due to redesign than if they would have just done it right the first time, and the building is still ugly.

Columbus: Scioto Peninsula Developments and News
columbus17 replied to StuFoote's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionYeah but they move at a snail's pace. They aren't in a rush and therefore aren't as pressured about the current finances.

Columbus: Scioto Peninsula Developments and News
columbus17 replied to StuFoote's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThere's a financing issue. That has to be it. Too many projects have been approved and disappeared. Pizzuti coming back value engineering their design proves it. They're trying to approve anything that will add housing at this point. Its kinda funny how Linden is getting nicer developments than downtown at this point smh.

Dublin: Bridge Park / Bridge Street District Developments and News
columbus17 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt was never realistic. Who was going to use it? Schools? Just can't justify that kind of cost. MAYBE you could get some concerts in, but something of that size just wouldn't have a draw otherwise. We already have nationwide and JSC, and those don't get utilized every day to begin with.

They cut out more of the angular details as well. It just looks boring again.

Columbus: Random Development and News
columbus17 replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe patio is there, just much smaller. Not a fan as you can't see the people/activation as much from the street.

Columbus: Downtown: Lower.com Field / Astor Park
Reason: cost cutting. I don't buy the fact they didn't know it was going to cost that much when they first designed it. They're just trying to cheap out now.

Columbus: Polaris Developments and News
columbus17 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe bike obsession is extremely overrated. We live in Ohio. This is just not a bike-friendly climate. Some may use them, but it will never get to a point that a meaningful portion will. Walking - depends on the density of the area. Most likely is car and public transit. (Btw those scooters are the worst investment ever)

- John Glenn Columbus International Airport
That’s not a lot for an airport. Seems expensive - construction costs are through the roof. For example, they should continue the skylights throughout the gates, instead of a flat ceiling. Most other airports do that. The color scheme throughout is largely white - the cheapest color to build with (for whatever reason). There’s no APM planned to access the current parking garage and surface lots. It’s better, but its nothing to run home about. - John Glenn Columbus International Airport
