Key Tower 947'

  1. It's not terrible - just needs color and a plant wall.
  2. Double edged sword - if steel goes up so may building costs = less skyscrapers?
  3. That's what I'm gathering. They did mark the wrong site but someone had to have manually gone in and made that image of the Marathon with the site label. Something is planned for there and I'd say its big and dense. Makes sense given how the redid (and widened) the bridge across the street - which should connect to that other development off of High. Btw, whatever happened to the high rise off 270 and the new bridge park phases? A ton of Dublin projects in that area have just gone silent.
  4. And most of the homes (apart from Pulte and MI) aren't flaming piles of cr@p!
  5. They finally got their shoring permit then - that was the holdup.
  6. So this tower will or won't be taller than Key?
  7. Been aware of this vaguely - nice to see its finally moving forward. https://dublinohiousa.gov/pzc/23-123/
  8. Well well well, what do we have here? I'd say somthing BIG is going on this corner! Planning staff made a mistake - say goodbye to the Marathon? https://dublinohiousa.gov/art/23-120/
  9. I know its not downtown but this is GREAT news for the city! Another employer (with office space)! https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2023/12/12/wells-fargo-technology-easton-office.html
  10. Superior and W St Claire are about as dry and uninspiring as a worn out 70s strip mall.
  11. This building had so much potential to be like Cleveland's city club and instead looks like Rhodes. Nice to see the gap filled in but wish we could get some more uniqueness/color.
  12. I'd like to see, if possible, trees down the center of Euclid too. There's that giant median which could be a great opportunity for some public art and much larger trees. One thing I saw too is Cleveland uses the same type of street tree everywhere, and it doesn't seem to have much shade coverage or big leaves. I'd like to see a little more diversity and much larger root basins - the current ones look to be about 2'x2' which is definitely stunting their growth. Serviceberries are a great option as they bloom with multiple colors a year and offer (edible) berries that birds (even rarer kinds) enjoy. Would be a great boost to the local ecosystem. Lilacs are also very nice and produce big white flowers. There are also redbuds, which have pink flowers in the Spring, green (or purple) leaves in summer, and bright orange and red leaves in the fall. There are so many opportunities for cool foliage, and I just don't think Cleveland is utilizing it.
  13. We had a perfectly fine building in downtown Columbus, one of our last warehouses, torn down because of "structural issues." Well, turns out the owner wanted it to come down years ago, and just sat on it. I've spoken with numerous engineering firms that work specifically within historic preservation/restoration and said there is nothing that isn't past the point of saving. It's definitely someone pulling the strings. Sure, on a proforma its cheaper to build new, but historical and significance are something that should be accounted for in the CBA much higher than they are. Architects need to also get off of their laurels drawing cube coordinations and start speaking up and educating about the history of these old structures. Engineers too, as these are surly engineering marvels! If they want a compromise, just take down the center part, but at least keep the towers in place and make sure to include a public park (as stated above) with plenty of information (and maybe an interactive element or two like the Black Music Walk of Fame in Cincy).
  14. I'm not even from Cleveland but yes, Euclid needs trees. I couldn't imagine walking down that concrete desert in 80+ degree weather. Also could you imagine a nice gentle breeze as you loiter about the area? I would even go as far as to advocate for plant walls throughout the area as well. The benefits are known and a little greenery never hurt anyone!
  15. I don't get why London isn't included in the path. They are insane to turn down the economic boom that would come from a station. It's right in the middle of Springfield and Hilliard - makes perfect sense to include a stop.
  16. It looks like Delaware will be getting a stop as well. I was told from the Hilliard city engineer that they are currently more likely to get the station than Dublin would as well. If so, the line would extend from Delaware to the convention center, than through Franklinton to Hilliard/Grove City area, then to London, then towards Dayton.
  17. Euclid looks dead without trees - it needs some greenery and life. It looks like a concrete jungle right now. Even hanging flower baskets on the light posts would help. A pocket park here and there would be great.
  18. To be honest the exterior seems like supply chain. There's lower panels in sections not obstructed by balconies or bump-outs that are missing. I'd say each of these panels are a custom size and it's taking a while to get them.
  19. Know the owner of Agape - great guy
  20. It's going to be a while before things go vertical though - utilities, again... Same thing with the 33/161 interchange - 6 month delays due to unmarked utilities and having to coordinate around them/move them.
  21. This project is disappointing for me. They had so much oppoertunity to make something good and it just looks like an 80s/90s concrete bridge.
