  1. I've been a consistent opponent of much of zoning regulations and the parking requirements - so I totally agree there. My only qualm with "affordable" developments is the type built like an MI/DR Horton/Pulte/Ryan/Centex home. Most of these are slapped up garbage with low grade materials and shotty labor. That being said, I feel there are many ways to create quality affordable developments and agree there needs to be a mixture of dense and non-dense residential. Personally, I'd like to see developments in the style of Bridge Park, Evans Farm (high density but still separate homes), townhomes, and then single family in 0.5+ acre lot. The traditional developments we see thrown up are quite bad and still, not very affordable.
  2. I really think the whole affordable housing crisis boils down to two things. A. The national housing shortage and rapid expansion of major urban areas (landlock). B. The transition in the workplace. There's a large number of lower-pay jobs that will be phased out within the next decade due to technological advancements. We need to work to create new, higher skill jobs that will pay well and create stable, lifelong employment. Also has to do with the failure and overpromising of the American college system, which has placed an unrealistic value on college that has driven the price up. In short, housing affordability is really just the symptom of two much larger problems.
  3. When Intel announced the fab I literally almost fell over laughing. Bankruptcy is an "any minute" scenario for them unless they completely replace their leadership.
  4. Hey everyone! I've been given some information about a potential non-profit moving into the area called Cup of Purpose Cafe. I'll leave a link to the YouTube video with more information about it. It would be going in somewhere likely off Broad Street. Please let me know your thoughts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?fbclid=IwAR38-Dte9VX6GuwyDLv--zQwq_-Ras2Osw1hLYcxoR5m_GJw4xBSrKUdY2s&v=GFEkT5sBq-8&feature=youtu.be
  5. I hope that's the case. There's a lot of great opportunities for an "innovation district" out that way that would work well with CCAD/CSCC/Franklin
  6. Cheap apartment complexes say hellooooooooooo
  7. I think if CSCC truly wants to move forward and expand they need to go the Clark State route. If not, I just can't imagine how they'd expand like this. Currently I think their best bet is selling the lots between Long and Spring to private developers and just call it a day.
  8. I sat in the lot most of the day yesterday. It was completely empty. The one on the East side of the garage should've never been built - they even have lots across from "the View" as well. Way too much parking.
  9. One of the Google reps is on data center development. Its data centers.
  10. Anyone know what's up with this area? Seen some movement over there recently.
  11. I don't like the first design. Those central turn lanes are a mess.
  12. Yesterday they were acid washing more of the paint off the limestone and it looked great!
  13. In their defense all we can get out this way is Pulte, MI, and DR Horton. At least Ryan hasn't figured out there's land over here yet...
  14. See I was kinda disappointed in yellow brick. The crust was thin and there weren't many toppings. The Moroccan place has great lamb chops though - I believe I got mine medium and they were mint!
  15. They used to have concerts in the old veterans memorial. Would be nice to see that again instead of over at OSU.
  16. We just got hail. So much for a nice, new roof.
  17. Maybe - really interested about the Greyhound site. I'll ask around and see what I can find out about that.
  18. There used to be a market at the Greyhound site decades ago....
