Columbus: Downtown: Capitol Square Renaissance (Edwards Cos.)
Oh so some of the best looking new constructions. He definitely needs to do more work there then.

Yes they've been - if its the one that's bottom half is just the garage. It's ugly - you don't want to look at it trust me.

columbus17 replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionAs long as I maintain pull with developers within the city I'll keep advocating for some of that historic style architecture.

Columbus: Downtown: Arena District Developments and News
columbus17 replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionOne thing that's so weird is Columbus seemed to either tear down all their iconic historic buildings or just never had them. Cleveland is way cooler architecturally - Columbus is just surface lots and filing cabinets. I wish we had more stuff like The Atlas in the city. Have to say I'm not thrilled about the train station being taken out though - that building was very unique. That being said I'd like to see 8-10 story buildings in the future in the AD. I think that's a good middle ground in terms of height.

columbus17 replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThis has to be the most pointless video ever. I thought it'd overlay some renderings or something - it literally flies around a dirt lot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWwxB_MVzPY

Columbus: Fifth by Northwest (5xNW) Development and News
columbus17 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThere was a small tornado that touched down near Orient if I'm not mistaken. I know a trailer park down there was literally overturned due to "high winds" but I saw a clip of a tornado touching down somewhere this morning.

Also hope they'll take that ugly PNC sign off the building. It just makes it look like a plastic structure from afar.

13 story can be seen from Spring Street now. It's getting quite tall - probably another 4-5 floors if I remember correctly. I'll take pics Thursday if I get a chance.

Columbus: Random Development and News
columbus17 replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionShame. Hopefully one day it'll get corrected. Would also like to see Rich Street as a two way - I think Spring and Long are important for one way as they're very much for "thru" traffic, but rich street being one way just doesn't make sense.

Columbus: Random Development and News
columbus17 replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI didn't want to go that far, but yes. And the development across the street behind the historic buildings. Someone was on something crazy when thinking that was a good idea.

Columbus: Random Development and News
columbus17 replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionSo, on the topic of the Greyhound redevelopment, here's a few other thoughts about properties I'd like to see redone around the commons. 1.) I love the buildings on this side of the commons. Another large, geometric glass monolith would be extremely cool here. Something with 1-3rd floor retail/restaurants and the next 5-8+ floors being office/co-working. 2.) This garage is almost as bad as a surface lot. It can easily be consolidated and let's be frank, it's not fully utilized anyways. I'd love to see some sort of large indoor mixed-use development here. Kinda like "The Wall" out in Saudi Arabia. I really like "The Shops at Columbus Circle" on Google. Showcasing small businesses, restaurants, and retail in an indoor/Easton like setting with a residential component mixed in would be unique and attractive year-round. I think the 3rd street side would make a good, taller parking structure, which could be surrounding on the Rich and 3rd sides by residential or retail, leaving only the Main Street side open for ventilation. 3.) No explanation needed here :) 4.) The building before this on 3rd with the Subway is actually really cool architecturally and compliments the office building across the street. However, behind it is a large surface lot and a rather drab building. I'd like to see an 8-10 story mixed use (first floor dining and a retail or entertainment establishment) building here. I'd also like to see an L shaped park around the preserved structure, which could definitely use some updated landscaping as well. Keeping some larger trees would be nice though and make the area feel more inviting. 5.) Surface lot - similar case as above. Like to see an 8-10 story building here too. I really like the building where Code Fitness or The Goat is in - something like that here would be cool and look great. 6.) I'd like to see another large, indoor mixed-use concept here. It'd compliment the Casto building down the street and provide some great night views along the river! 7.) I can't count apparently - ignore. 8.) I hate these buildings so much. They are the most terrible design, and the first-floor retail has virtually no windows and looks like a cinder block mass. I'd like to see a reclad or some sort of refresh to these buildings to make the facade less "flat" and provide a better ground floor experience with outdoor dining, colorful signage, and interesting window displays. This is all me just playing Sim City, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on this!

Columbus: Random Development and News
columbus17 replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionNice to see some quality in a Pulte development for once - but the trees should really stay. It's so bizarre why developers want to mow down trees - fun fact, most of us don't want to see our neighbors! We like the shade and sound barrier they provide - and the wildlife and clean air. And not the crappy sugar maples you plant in the islands that rip up the sidewalks after ten years. Mature trees help a neighborhood age well.

Columbus: OSU Medical Center Expansion
