  1. If anyone was curious what’s inside… Speaking of which, Irishtown Bend Park would be a pretty cool place to watch regattas, especially with so many food choices nearby
  2. Pretty awesome seeing the Artisan lit up at night (4-6-23)
  3. Ashbury Point townhomes (4-7-23) Ashbury infill
  4. Now if only there were a way to use tax policy to disincentivize long-term land speculation and reward smaller-scale developments that can generate near-term revenue… but that’s a discussion for another thread. The Brownstone Inn really is a hidden gem in Downtown though, more developments that look like it and The Avenue could bring Cleveland’s urban core up to par with other rust belt cities like Pittsburgh and St. Louis
  5. New steel up on Allen and Connor Palace marquees…
  6. Progress on The Avenue townhomes on Superior (4-4-23)
  7. I’m no brutalism fan, but the “Fives at Erieview” next door is one sexy-looking building, and probably similar to much of Pei’s master plan as much as I dislike it. Way more pedestrian oriented than many of the other buildings in the district, and bonus for being on a car-free street. If only Erieview tower had as much of a street presence…
  8. From a 2021 FreshWater Cleveland article, not sure if it’s been posted before. This has some really good info as well. https://www.freshwatercleveland.com/features/MetroparksFedaralMoney122221.aspx
  9. SRV expansion: progress on “Hill” building; “Murray” building started (3-31-23) Lot 44 work Finally some action at Casa d’Angolo/former Primo Vino site? Woodhill Supply site: progress on E 123rd townhomes, little movement on Coltman side
  10. Tower City appears to have redesigned its website recently... The site does a better job at highlighting activities and events, and Skylight Park now gets a whole tab in the main menu. Despite sitting at the center of the entire RTA system, their new site doesn't seem to make a single mention of public transit. The parking garages get a dedicated page though. I don't understand how Bedrock plans to build the single largest transit oriented development in the city if they aren't going to appeal to people who use public transit. https://www.towercitycenter.com/
  11. From Edgewater Pier (3-24-23)
  12. Welleon (3-24-23) Battery Park townhomes on W. 73rd
  13. On paper, it’s actually not too bad of a walk (distance-wise): according to google maps it’s less than 15 minutes to the center of campus, and only about half a mile to the edge of campus. The real problem is that the surrounding land use is essentially as pedestrian-unfriendly as it could possibly get.
  14. Park Lamont progress (3-21-23) Addis View phases I & II? Signage at The Lumos
  15. I would think that full-time residents add more to the vitality of places like Playhouse Square than people commuting to 9 to 5 office jobs. If people want to work from home, they're going to work from home; better their homes are downtown than in the 'burbs. Also, isn't the whole point of working from home to avoid needlessly long commutes? I would expect Playhouse Square to be pretty appealing to the WFH crowd, with dining, entertainment, and groceries barely minutes away. A subsidy might help keep jobs downtown in the short term, but why not capitalize off of what downtown already has to offer and adapt to a trend that could turn out to be long term?
  16. Wasn’t cleveland ranked one of the few cities where homeownership is more affordable than renting? It might not be unreasonable to think there could be a bit of a substitution effect with some people who otherwise would’ve rented new apartments moving into new construction homes.
  17. North Park Place townhomes (3-11-23)
  18. Abbey Ave Apartments (3-10-23)
  19. The Peninsula & Silverhills sites (3-10-22) Really can't overstate how much this view is going to change...
  20. That's a "missing tooth" that will be nice to see filled... (3-10-23)
  21. The Davis Apartment Homes (3-9-23) Anecdotally, there are still numerous homes actively being renovated within the couple of blocks to the south.
