Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Thanks for the update.Looks as tho things are starting to come together. It really does my soul good to see this happening. 3CDC (and others) is starting to push up Vine St!!!! I'm sorry, but I'm pissing my pants right now. That is exciting news!A healthy, resurgent Vine is critical to the sucess of OTR and ultimately to the revival of Cincinnati.Vine is amazing, its painful to see all that potential just sitting there-slowly rotting, deteriorating, disappearing.More and more good things are happening all the time;these are just the "signs" i've been looking for,and they are occurring much more frequently than realized. Forgive my gushing optimism, but having grown up in OTR, these are events I have long dreamed of. Quite possibly we're about to turn a corner here--KEEP THE GOOD NEWS COMIN'!!! Lets get OTR off of death-watch and well on the road to recovery.

Cincinnati: Fountain Square: Development and News
Just a thought here. The fountain is going to be repositioned so that it faces south, right?Does that seem like a good idea to anyone? What sort of backdrop does that afford?Great photo-op-the genius of water's @$$ end to the Carew or the Westin. Seems like someone didn't do their homework. I could be wrong tho.I'm no photographer ,but IMO the best vantage point was with the fountain facing east and Carew looming in the background.

Group flying billboards of aborted fetuses over Dayton
It is very easy to apply labels to those with whom we disagree. It is much more convenient to demonize someone than try to understand them. You would wince, cringe and make all sorts of unflattering gestures and level a withering assault on any who would dare to reduce those on the left as simply "baby killers".We all know its much more complicated than that.If one truly understood that pro-lifers consider abortion to be MURDER then how can you judge them for doing what they feel they have to do to end (for what is to them the greatest plague on society today)this evil? Hell if someone wants to fly banners or post billboards then grow some effin' balls, stand up for your convictions and do everything in your power to bring about change,if thats what you want.jUST PLEASE LET US STOP BEING SO INTELLECTUALLY DISHONEST BY DEMONIZING those on the other side of the issue

- Cincinnati Aerials: Part II
Well thank you gentlemen for your hard work, looks like you went above and beyond the call. This is a beautiful thread and you should be very proud. EXCELLENT!!!!- Group flying billboards of aborted fetuses over Dayton
Dude, to compare a groups right to protest (displaying offensive images for 5 days, against what they consider to be a holocaust of the unborn) with 1 billion such offenses (close to the population of India) is hardly comparable. If you don't agree with someones stance on the abortion issue -that's fine. But if each side tried to see the others side perhaps there would be less rhetoric and more resolution.- Cincinnati Aerials: Part II
Very nice!If there is a next time perhaps you could show some love to the westside? Also, what are all those "crop circles" in and around U.C.?- Cincinnati: Skyline: Time Lapse Video During the Riverfront Days w/ Lightning
I've always known Cincinnati was ELECTRIFYING.- Cincinnati: Ohio River: Paddlefest 2005
I'm no expert but the Ohio River has historically been known for it's beauty. The French called it "LA BELLE RIVIERE"-the beautiful river. You can stop laughing now...really stop. The Ohio has also been typified by its distinct blue/green waters.I know that's hard to believe for some but it's true none the less.Everyones experience is that the Ohio is a muddy dirty river (while this is true as well, particularly during overflow blah blah blah...)to get a true perspective all you would need to see is where the Ohio empties into the Mississippi.A truer comparison is hard to come by,the contrast between the beautiful blue/green waters of the Ohio and the muddy mississippi is striking.Typically peoples experience of actually being "on" the river is "WOW!!!Inever knew it was so pretty"!When the new photos of paddlefest 2006 are posted I'll bet you anything we'll see evidence of these blue/green waters....theres no mystery here...that is the Ohio's natural color.- Cincinnati: Would West 5th/4th Make a Good Entertainment District?
With the residential nature of 4th st. I get the whole park idea.It sounds sensible/practicle etc.Why can't this town think bigger, bolder, just be friggin audacious? What ever happened to talk of the Beer Hall of Fame? this seems like a perfect place for that.It could go right next to the Bootsy Collins/Peter Frampton HOUSE OF Blues (or funk). All of your suggestions are great and preferable to what is there now.- Cincinnati: FINALLY - *90* photos of the "URBAN OHIO CITY TOUR"
AWESOME!!!! I am really liking this site., EXCELLENT! On a personal note-I used to work at Clifton Skyline (also 7th street, and perhaps a few of you can still recall the 5th street location-sadly gone now-sigh).I also worked at the Cincinnatian, many moons ago when it was a seedy indigent hotel.I was right out of high school and my job was running this rickety old elevator. It was cool. But the best part, I know you guys will appreciate this, was the old folks fondly recalling the glory days, and how this place was a dump (it really was),and how I should have seen the Sinton Hotel and the Gibson and on and on -it was so interesting.Anyway, Great job and thanks for the "Cin city" shot. You know who put the cin in Cincinnati baby -that would be me -heck yeah!- Cincinnati: Population Trends
Btw,sorry 4 jumpin' right in on your wonderful site.I'm new and don't know protocol,I introduced myself over on a "where are you from" thread. Thanks for listening.- Cincinnati: Population Trends
welll,we don't want to be known as the Wal-mart of urban America,so ...yes,we'll pay them and provide health insurance we can even provide body armor scavenged from some chop-shop(or Detroit). The point is not to generate more bad press but to take our biggest weaknesses e.g. the perception of Cincinnati ,and otr in particular,as the killing fields of America, and to then, in a stunning reversal turn it to our biggest strength. QUICK- someone notify the Chamber of Commerce!!!- Where is Home?
Thanks for the welcome.I have 6 brothers & 5 sisters. It wasn't uncommon as most families i knew had 8 or more kids.In dozens & dozens of households i really can only remember a few who had only 1 or 2 children (they were known as "the rich kids").- Cincinnati: Population Trends
Interesting.Since fear and panic sell then why don't we market that.People are so quick to believe the worst then wer'e sittin' on a gold mine in cincy.Hype it as a "one-of-a-kind" destination. something akin to the Purple People Bridge Climb. You could market it to thrill seekers, daredevils, people with death wishes, sktrs, punks etc.Let them try to get out of cincy alive, unmolested,or without incident. And we could charge an arm and a leg-where else in the world could you find such an adrenaline rush?Aussieland?New Zealand? The Queen City baby!!!There you have instant world class destination and population booster!!NO MORE RETREATING-LET'S GO FULL STEAM AHEAD!- Where is Home?
