  1. I really think BRT line on Euclid would be vastly improved if it was upgraded to rail, especially if they separate the tracks from the roadway. Whenever I visit and drive that stretch of Euclid between Public Square and Playhouse Square, it is a mess.
  2. It may be a pipe-dream, but I think it would do wonders if CUT was the hub for ALL forms of rail transportation.
  3. I'm sure there are plenty of people who enjoy urban living and density. But there are also plenty who like having yards, and space. After freeways were built, people moved to the suburbs in order to have yards and a house. That was considered a "quality of life" improvement. But not everyone wants the same things to improve their QOL. With the city losing over half of its population overt he last 50 years or so, there should be plenty of room for single-family houses with yards and dense apartment living. I think there is a unique opportunity to have a good mix of both. Cleveland needs more residents. Housing should be diverse enough to include something for everyone who seek to live there.
  4. Seems like a strong case for a healthy dose of public-private partnership. Find out what it will take for this to be a win-win-win for everyone involved.
  5. Hopefully they are not diverting funds from the shore-to-core land bridge downtown for this. LOL
  6. I just sent an e-mail to my state senator, Senator Tim Schaffer.
  7. I would love some good news also. I talked to a CVSR rep a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, he expressed serious doubt that we will see CVSR extended into the Flats. If I understood him correctly, there is a bridge owned by CSX(?) that CVSR would need to use to get to the Flats and it isn't likely to happen. I hope he is wrong. It must have been nice back in the days when RR were constructing bridges and tracks all over the place in CLE. It would be a major feat to pull that off today.
  8. It's too bad some of these abandoned railroad tracks couldn't be used for pedal-powered rail carts or rail bikes. It would a great alternative to walking/running or conventional bicycling. It seems like a unique form of recreation that, for some reason, hasn't caught on in Ohio.
  9. It may take until July 4th to be warm enough to use the pool.
  10. And if they do, how would that benefit the city/region?
  11. I wouldn't consider myself a "jazz fan", but I've gone to the Ginger Rabbit in Columbus Short North and found out I really enjoy live jazz. It's a great venue and the acoustics are fantastic. Hard to believe Cleveland doesn't have a jazz joint downtown or in the Flats.
  12. The headline writers at Channel 19 could use a grammar lesson. The way the headline is written indicates this is about a stadium in Columbus, which is very deceiving. A more correct and accurate headline would be "NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell meets with Governor DeWine and others in Columbus about Browns Stadium".
  13. Public Square is a major transportation hub as Superior, Euclid, and Ontario all intersect there. So I don't agree with shutting down traffic on the outside of the square. The bus lane that divides the square needs to go. Also, the "forest city" needs to undergo some "reforestation", but doesn't the fact that the malls sit over the convention center pose problems for planting trees? The city also needs more fountains.
  14. While we're dreaming... add converting the healthline BRT to rail, or is that part of your dream downtown loop?
  15. I'm not a betting man, but I'd be willing to bet the problem is more likely to be broken processes/too much bureaucracy.
