Ugh, my home town. Yeah the Carnegie is in sad shape. Still not happy they chose to build a new non-descript one instead of using the $$$ to save this Carnegie Gem. The harbor and Beaches are still wonderful. Did you go to Rainbow Cafe for stromboli? A Conneaut staple.

Don't forget Public Hall use to be included in many of the shows. I have pictures from one of the Home and Flowers shows way back when they built the gardens in Public Hall, and just the vendors were located in the main exhibit space of the convention center.

As have many fireworks displays, 4th of July festivals. Unfortunately the circumstances are all the same, whether X likes to hear it or not.

Wasn't a dome just approved for Wash. DC? So Ohio certainly wouldn't be the "furthest east dome" either.

I think this was many people's Urban Planning project at the School of Urban planning. I know it was mine. Supposedly, at least since Covid there has been much less emphasis on big exhibit halls and more emphasis on meeting rooms. There have been many articles about this.

As I had remembered, this reiterates there were full size trees over the previous convention center along with the wonderful fountains. I know they ended up having issues with water seeping through, but I believe that was related to the fountains and not the trees.

Yes this house if finally nearing completion!!! Just down from the famous "where's my guardrail house" on Fairmount, this house is being built by a couple of guys from Texas and has been ongoing for several years now. Good to see it hopefully in the final stretch.

That would make sense. I saw it yesterday and it seemed to be removed from the entirety of the building. It was a beautiful cornice so hopefully they are planning to replace it.

Did the original "Inner Harbor" make a comeback? I had thought, at least a few years ago, it was basically dead. Though it was pretty long lived and held up as an example of a successful waterfront development (it was always referenced and used as a case study in my urban planning classes). It was well connected to Downtown and many other attractions, so with some rethinking I would imagine it could be successful again.

Also, this. I would love to know what happened here. I had high hopes as the former Mayor of Akron, Horrigan would bring some credibility to CH govt., but this doesn't bode well. A friend of mine got a job with CH a few years ago and said it was much like what you would hear about working for the City of Cleveland, but we won't get political. Lets just say he was ridiculed by his co-workers for working too hard and making them look bad (he said he didn't even feel he was going above and beyond). if I remember right I think it mostly had to do with Indianapolis manipulating data to artificially make them look better and make Cleveland look bad (because maybe 1 of the 2 was supposed to be closed?).

Also John McCain stuck his neck out and pushed for Cleveland after I discussed with him and showed him the data vs what was being presented. I was able to get his ear because I became a friend of the family after working with him in other capacities in DC.

It certainly hasn't helped that Brandon was so vocal about and made it the main reason he was pulling out. Yet he is "actively helping to pursue new tenants for his spaces" (recruiting new tenants to occupy spaces that he no longer wants to occupy due to a crime problem?? Good luck with that.) I really loved having Yours Truly there, but I believe that was also a big reason they gave for leaving the Square. Employees were being robbed as they left work, and they started closing very early too.
