Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
Rainbow workers told me they were leaving, Manhattan is havin a 50-70% off sale on all Merchandise which City Leather had before they left (they also never posted a closing soon sign but they are gone) and Dario Fashion group rumor I heard from security along with Manhattan and they must be notified of stores that are opening and closing to prepare for it. YOU ALSO NEVER ANSWERED MY QUESTION!!!! lol I believe Dario is in the space that was previously Charlotte Russe, but diddnt someone claim the CR was coming back to Tower City to that very space (McCleve maybe)?

Yes I agree that Start seemed to go with the vibe of the Theatre District very well (especially when you consider the piano player). It sounds like Mr. Lucarelli is getting pushed out though, so they must have a better idea for the spot.

Dont people like Harvest Kitchen in Solon. I thought that was supposed to be good.

Suburban Sprawl News & Discussion
Sometimes I dont get the feeling that people here understand this. Actually, most of Cleveland's worst population losses occurred in its poorest neighborhoods. I would have to believe that this caused the per capita income to actually rise for Cleveland. I suppose as the city continues to empty out and the few remaining pockets of middle class neighborhoods and inner ring suburbs have then lost their middle class to the poor people that had left these Cleveland neighborhoods, I guess this would looking at the bright side?

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
11-7 and around the casino opening stores had the option of staying open until 9 but like I said some stores stay open at 10 and close at 8...also that was quite a lineup of stores when it opened but I don't feel downtown was ready for such a high end lineup I feel as if those stores had opened now with the downtown resurgence and higher downtown pop. that the stores would have been better off. Hard to say. The more upscale stores likely not, since their target population now lives further from the center city than they did when Tower City initially opened, and the majority of the "new" downtown population doesnt really fit their demographic, but the mid-range stores may be a different story based on the demographics of this population. No doubt the numbers/demographic information that they collect of the typical casino patron will play into this as well.

Cleveland: Filling in Euclid Avenue
Also in the Crains version it has a little more about the status of the Schofield project. At least it sounds like the Truman part will start relatively quickly. Downtown Cleveland, Kent projects land historic preservation tax credits By STAN BULLARD 1:20 pm, June 26, 2012 Steve Calabrese, a CRM principal who acquired the Truman years ago, said this afternoon that he is getting ready to seek building permits for the Truman. He said his team is about to secure financing for the project from a regional lender, which he declined to identify. Mr. Calabrese and Brian Intihar, a partner, said plans for the Schofield are being redone to make financing easier to obtain. However, both men declined to share details on what they described as “fine-tuning” until later. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20120626/FREE/120629867

Great! Cleveland developers win preservation tax credits to bring 103 apartments, offices, stores downtown Published: Tuesday, June 26, 2012, 1:35 PM Updated: Tuesday, June 26, 2012, 1:48 PM By Michelle Jarboe McFee, The Plain Dealer The Plain Dealer CLEVELAND, Ohio -- State tax credits aimed at historic preservation will help developers bring 103 apartments to two buildings in downtown Cleveland, a market where demand for rental housing is outpacing supply. The Truman Building and the Rosetta Center building, both on Euclid Avenue, were the two Cleveland winners in a round of awards announced today by the Ohio Department of Development. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2012/06/cleveland_developers_win_prese.html

And if its where the Warner Brothers store was (which is why that monstrosity was build in the first place), then thats good news all around since the structure no longer really had a place/purpose there. In fact, the whole place had become too covered with inapproriate things that only detract from the architecture.

Chef Jonathon Sawyer preparing Italian concept for University Circle By KATHY AMES CARR 4:30 am, June 25, 2012 Before Jonathon Sawyer opened the French-inspired Greenhouse Tavern, he and some of the restaurant's co-pilots traveled to France for some research and development. He went to Tokyo to more fully integrate himself with the Japanese metropolis and cuisine before unveiling Noodlecat. Now the chef has recently returned from a 40-day jaunt in Italy, the bulk of the time spent in Trentino, where Mr. Sawyer engrossed himself in the culture in preparation for a planned spring 2013 opening of an Italian concept targeted for Uptown in University Circle. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20120625/SUB1/120629920/1053/TOC&Profile=1053

Yes we know . And according to the many previous posts about this, the sign on the window says it is opening Mon. July 16

Cleveland: University Circle: Uptown (UARD)
Im not sure what the point is in this comparison. It is the contempory style of the development not because they were cutting corners that "the windows lack trim and detail". You dont have to like it. Im betting you can find other contemporary examples/comparisons in NYC that would also lack such detail, likely even ones with a Chipotle in them!

Cleveland: Downtown: Mall Development and News
Also the County guy (forgot his name) has been hinting about providing some of the casino windfall money to go toward something roughly described as the redo of the mall and possibly public square. He has basically been suggesting that as part of a downtown development fund that the money could help fund the implementation of many of the suggestions that the commission comes up with.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
I love this story! Was reading about this guy a while back that had aspired to bring this production "home", but now he has bought an old industrial building in Gordon Square for this very cool production. Its like a return of manufacturing on the neighborhood level. Now if we could only make those parts here again. Cleveland CycleWerks to move motorcycle production to Cleveland from China (video) Published: Saturday, June 16, 2012, 12:00 PM Updated: Saturday, June 16, 2012, 12:11 PM CLEVELAND, Ohio -- It's just a dilapidated industrial site now, but Scott Colosimo sees what should be there by the end of the year - a high-tech factory pumping out Cleveland CycleWerks motorcycles by the thousands. The floors will be painted concrete. The ceilings will be covered with enough lights to make the place glow. The walls? CycleWerks' chief executive Colosimo, 31, plans to leave the aged red bricks in place, a reminder that his new work space near the Gordon Square Arts District made industrial rubber for nearly a century. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2012/06/cleveland_cyclewerks_to_move_m.html

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
People amaze me sometimes. Someone posted on Cleveland.com, wondering what the cop did to provoke the guys who assaulted him. Id say the women asked to be walked to their car for a reason, and the d-bags in the car were the reason. Some guys are mortally insulted when a woman doesnt talk to them. Sometimes when they behave badly enough, they get kicked out of the club. The officer merely added to the diss. Yeah, its amazing either how much mankind has reverted (or how little progress has been made in this regard). Undoubtely, adding in the thug element likely didnt help any in this case, which would account for the disregard for authority.

Cleveland: Downtown: Jack Cleveland Casino - Phase 2
If the fake stores they used in the rendering video is any indication ("Ducci", "B and G", etc.) then no But if those are the actual names of the "cheap knock off" stores that will be included in this phase then yes.
