  1. Yes thats been out there as well. Originally as part of the Corridor project, but lack of funds caused it to be left out at that point. Since then it has been mentioned as a "this will be happening at some point, project" They just merely packaged everything together so they could toot their own horns and show what a good job they are doing... Nothing wrong with that when you consider the average person that doesnt read this board all day likely wouldnt have pieced it together or otherwise known.
  2. Yeah, I was puzzled by the hub-bub of this since it was nothing at all new. Not sure what they were really announcing.... Just a reason to have a some publicity and a subsquent story I guess (the city PR machine at work)....
  3. Is this any relation to the 'Brooklyn Pickle', which is a fantastic sandwich place out of Syracuse, or just a coincidental name choice? No connection.. It is the former owners of Redstone. I guess they could have copied the name, but not sure and doubt it. Apparently they do offer a selection of different types of pickles.
  4. Yeah they use the tablet when they have their lunchtime rush. Otherwise its just the typical assembly line thing that you would find at subway or Quiznos. Has nobody been to the "Cleveland Pickle" yet? Shame.
  5. Right. Supposedly Cleveland has been going through the seed planting stage, which according to the "authorities", should start to pay off in a noticable way in 2 to 3 years...

Yeah after reading that I just cant make sense of it anymore....
  7. Yup, just got me one!
  8. If you are a young professional you likely wouldnt live in that neighborhood!
  9. They sound like typical Washintonians. "Would only have Starbucks"... Since there really are not any independent coffee places in DC (well there are some now but you have to seek them out), Washintonians think the only coffee is Starbucks (which they do have on nearly every corner), and actually dims compared to some of Clevelands local places.. And while the streets can be confusing in the Heights and especially the Shaker Lakes (where I spent this past weekend learning every street), I dont see how she could say that with the confusion and difficulty DC is... The streets that are difficult to learn and most people cant figure out due to the various grids and overlays etc., and the added difficulty because of the extremely rude Washintonians that inhabit them. It was only rather recent that DC even had any creative or even good restaurants, before that it was best to go to chains here due to their higher standards :|.
  10. Ha ha, I was waiting for that one... I know thats one of your pet peaves. What about Chinato's .......

  12. Yeah I remember the same thing. I know he didnt get along with I believe Mike White and then he had somewhat soured on Cleveland and only looked at projects elsewhere, but I would have thought by now maybe they would have come around..... If Cleveland had a proactive Mayor, he would be trying to rebuild somekind of relationship there.
  13. Yeah this morning that news gave me a stomach ache, but they were not yet indicating anything about the headquarters (which they are now saying would remain in NEO). Still, amazing the lengths to avoid taxes, no matter how many handouts they receive. Wonder if there will be any benefit at all to NEO?
  14. Sounds lovely.... Also it shouldnt be long till the Chipotle opens at Uptown, since they are advertising for postions there.
  15. Well the bridge opened in 1932. Of course Im sure everybody on here already know this, but for any newbies that may not, it was renamed the "Hope" Memorial after being closed in the early 80's for repairs. This was because Bob Hopes father was a stonemason on the bridge. I would hope along with the new pedestrian amenities that it would also include some sort of historical marker explaining this (if there isnt already something indicating this). This is an area where Cleveland really seems to fall short. "The bridge was renamed at this time, becoming the Hope Memorial Bridge, to honor actor Bob Hope and his family - English immigrants who came to Cleveland in 1908. William Henry Hope, Bob's father, was a stonemason who worked on the construction of the Guardians in the 1930s." http://clevelandhistorical.org/items/show/73
  16. Really, many places offer this. Right off I know Crop, Dante and Cowell and Hubbard all have private dining areas. These may not be considered "mid range", but I think RNR may have some good recomendations as well.
  17. Yes its the Cookie and a Cupcake people.
  18. It was posted in the innerbelt thread the other day. Agree about the Gaurdians being lit!
  19. I think your confusing the Ferchill Group with the Finch group who is doing Circle East and did Park Lane. Ferchill did do Book Cadillac and a nice project in Pittsburg but nothing in Cleveland for a while, which is unfortunate since it is their home town..
  20. Another super article, thanks for posting!! Yeah thanks for posting. Very cool article!
  21. WKNR Sports Radio just broadcast 24-hours, non-stop, from the Horseshoe. On the Rizzo/Goldhammer show, some official told them that downtown hotels were booked solid, as in 100% capacity, and that there were no openings at the Ritz for several months. Can anyone verify this? My brother and his wife tried to book a room at the Ritz-Carlton for their anniversary this summer (mid-July) and they told them that they are all booked up through September 30. Its giving me a room for Friday night of Memorial weekend, but not Saturday night. Its not allowing government rate though, which usually makes it the same price as the Holiday Inn for me. :x
  22. Kindof like they reused the tress from the malls before ripping that up. They wont. Puzzeling they keep removing planting areas along E. 9th, which they also did over at the One Cleveland Center building when they re-did the plaza.
  23. Yeah, it looks like they will be getting rid of the bed and the windswept birch trees that I have always really liked.
  24. I definitely agree now that they are done. They would have had more of an impact if they were at least one and preferably two stories higher. I am hoping that the building on the corner of Ford and Euclid (which concept photos show as 6-7 stories) might mitigate this problem. Yes, I have said that from the beginning. Even 1 additional story would have helped a great deal in this regard.
  25.
