  1. Thats right. But Marlin didnt really have anything to do with Garage, and I dont beleive he had an ownership stake in Dragonfly (although he may have had a newly created one since its reincarnation.
  2. I would have though about Jeff and Ursula since last I knew they were going through a nasty divorce. I dont know why it would be about Marlin if it involves Garage Bar, and since Jeff and Ursula were the owners of both (although I suspect what R@R is saying about Marlin may have some truth to it, he seems to be going through his own stuff.... *Ok, I dont think Im familiar with Adam or Lisa..
  3. I know the owner had been going through a divorce...
  4. Yes pretty pathetic. On the brights side the budget for Edgewater went up slightly in 2012 even though the State Park budget continued to go down!
  5. It seems with Cleveland, the crime has mostly spread to other areas/inner ring suburbs (somewhat similar to DC's crime reduction by way of moving it to PG county) with there being an important distinction of DC increaing and replacing with an educated/working population, where Cleveland has gone more hand in hand with the decrease in population. Also what has happened is crime has somewhat decreased in the worst/most abandoned neighborhoods, and increased in many previously stable neighborhoods, with a few bright spots where there has been a bit of repopulation and reconstruction thus making these areas somewhat functional again. Its really a mixed bag when trying to look at these things. Many years of decline, loss of middle class and people with means moving further out has contributed to an overall negative trend. But there are certainly plenty of bright spots, you just have to weigh to what extent they make up for the losses.
  6. Well RandR doesnt like Presto (which when I tried them I actually thought they seemed like a more creative version of Potbelly).
  7. Showrooms are on floors 2-5, not just 5. However, you're correct they do want a controlled environment, as they will change at least 2 a year. With the open atrium, and show rooms on 3 sides, instead of 4, I have a suspicion the building was built not only to view the mall but to improve chances for an addition. I thought 2-5 as well, but I was just going by the graphic here. http://www.clevelandmedicalmart.com/about/architecture/
  8. In the 515 garage. *And you better at least try the Cleveland pickle before declaring Potbelly your favorite sandwich place downtown.
  9. I wonder why it was a news story in Massachusetts. It doesn't seem like it should have been one in Cleveland (I mean who hasnt exposed there genitals to people they work with?).
  10. The actual Med-Mart showrooms which is on the 5th floor of the facility actually has no widows at all, since it is strictly for "showrooms", so they really want a controlled environment. Well a convention hotel was identified as the most likely use for the spot due to its proximity and ability to connect with the facilities. Whether or not that would materialize is likely dependent on how successful they are in drawing people and shows etc.
  11. Yeah, since he has less and less say with the company all the time. I think the big decision makers there now are not from Cleveland.
  12. I saw that at midnight. I kinda knew when Michael Symon posted it/tweeted on his facebook page, that it would be a done deal...
  13. Interesting. Apparently we have been somewhat fooled by the Cleveland areas lower unemploymnet rates than most places, since the same area is doing worse than most other places in the ohter ranking overall. I was really hoping things were turning around there.
  14. It all plays into to the demographics that are of coarse looked at by the reail establishments. MTS you should know that most of the retail establishments that you and others had mentioned theyy would like to see downtown that you also say are lacking in NE Ohio are not going to be interested in section 8 numbers or what their buying power is. Thats not to say they have no buying power. Thats why we are seeing the proliferation of Dollar general and other similarly "discount" type stores in most Cleveland neighborhoods.
  15. Funny because the other executive chef from Melange, Adam Bostwick ended up executive chef at Hodges. So I guess Melange isnt reopening after all.....
  16. I actually like that circle now and think it adds to the character of the area (even though it may not be a typical traffic circle). Sure when I lived there I may have thought it was scary, but after living in DC, where the streets and circles can be so much more dangerous because it seems every driver is an A$$%&#, it makes that one seem much more tame to me.
  17. Finally. I knew they had the funds dedicated to doing this this year, but I havent heard anything lately. I really think they should be upgrading the lighting as in decorative posts and buried powerlines for this stretch whcih I guess is just wishful thinking as well as I think a missed opportunity. Bumpy-but-vital route on Cleveland's East side to be repaved Published: Tuesday, March 27, 2012, 10:25 PM Updated: Wednesday, March 28, 2012, 8:02 AM CLEVELAND, Ohio — One of Cleveland's most beautiful drives is about to get a lot smoother. Crews are ready to start a curb-to-curb repaving of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, from Chester Avenue to Interstate 90. The 2.6-mile drive bisects Rockefeller Park and the Cleveland Cultural Gardens, an eye-catching swath of green that features sculptures, statues, stone bridges and a winding creek. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2012/03/bumpy-but-vital_route_on_cleve.html
  18. That is a public art component that was shown in one of the presentations. It is on here probably 100 so pages back. Just a concept, but not likely what is happening.
  19. I hope everyone is talking about the fact that it has advertising on it, since on some of the other threads everbody is complaining about the lack of color...
  20. Wow, major expansion mode (as I said, welcome to "development XYZ in anycity USA" soon enough it looks like). Seems with the guitar and red and white stripes, a cross between Fridays and Hard Rock (with a twang of course)!
  21. I think that was news to most people. It was symon that we were expecting to come out with a pizza place.... Also that same article mentions April for Constantino's
  22. So if it can get its historic designation in order and depending on what its competing with in the region I would expect it to be ranked relatively high. Remember also that the maximum credit has also been significantly reduced, again due to the fact that Cleveland was winning a disproportionately large amount of the credits.
  23. I'm not worried about eligibility, but about the likelihood of getting the Ohio credits. At least for the early rounds, didn't the cap on the program mean many fully-eligible projects were turned away, either because of first come/first served or because of the ranking system? And has the program definitely been funded for these next two rounds? Oh that was for Pugu... It isnt first come first served now (changed since Cleveland was winning most of the credits), but the current ranking system also makes it hard for 1 region to win an uneven amount of the credits. Yes I also believe the program has been funded for the next 2 rounds* (not by as much as it should). But the building needs to qualify before it can be considered. *will confirm
  24. It was done to create a street level entrance (so will serve as an observation platform on top). Im still curious to see how raised the whole ceiling will end up, since it is supposed to be higher than the old surface. Hopefully its not too jaring. Cleveland, Thats an interesting thought about the entrance.
  25. Good for you! It may be good, but on a... corporate, not as authentic level.
