Beachwood: Development and News
Yeah Mendo, 7.25 in tax revenue came from the Beachwood website announcement, and i started to try to figure out what that could mean as far as job numbers. Wow! Wrong! https://www.beachwoodohio.com/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=359

Beachwood: Development and News
Looks like good news for Beachwood. I don't see anything about job numbers or specific location. Edit; Another story mentions: "MasterBrand’s presence is anticipated to bring an increase of $7.25 million in tax dollars, and an expected $2 million in new capital investments, along with tenant improvements at 3300 Enterprise Parkway. This project reflects a relocation of their headquarter operations from Indiana." Cleveland Heights: Development and News
Yes this is what I was pushing for. Would have fit the neighborhood perfectly and isn't it owned by Daves? They could have just changed concept.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Agree. For Van Aken, it was a matter of finding its footing and getting the right restaurants in there. Doug's place will be the golden ticket though.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Yes Chagrin has turned into a restaurant mecca. Also, at Van Aken, that troubled spot that started out as Jonathan Sawyers place has recently signed a new concept from Doug Katz which will undoubtedly do well as the People in Shaker love and miss him since the closing of Fire. I still think on top of all the other issues, Pinecrest really made it that much more difficult for the restaurants in these corridors.

Suburban Cleveland: Development and News
Correct. In fact it is about the same proportion at their downtown office in the Warehouse district. At this point it's really a negotiating tactic for employees/employers, at least the ones that are not SW. Although the younger employees do tend to want to be in an office downtown more than the older ones.

Cleveland: University Circle: Cleveland Clinic Developments
When I mentioned this a couple of years ago, nobody here believed me. I think at one point the Clinic was even calling it "Dual Hub" (not to be confused with the proposed Euclid Ave. transit line) as they wanted to grow a Florida base for research and such. I guess this other research base would have been located at Port Saint Lucie, which is still likely to grow somewhat. Cleveland really dodged a bullet there.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
Frank isn't the reason the city is where it is, but you don't seem to realize how much Frank held this city back. It would be so much farther along right now had it not been for his multi terms of uninspired mediocrity. Most of the good things that happened during his tenure happened in spite of him.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
I appreciate you Cadmen because you speak the truth, even if those here don't appreciate it. I recall earlier in the pandemic someone (possibly you) predicting/forecasting what was going to be happening in the local office market, and that person was ridiculed left and right, yet they were spot on. The Cleveland area has been on the bottom of the list in terms of economic growth for as long as I can remember, and yes this has caught up to us. Of course there are positives that can be listed and perhaps it is due to some of us being around longer and seeing hope after hope not quite pan out compared to the younger population that expects a different outcome due to Sherwin Williams deciding to stay and build a new building. I moved back from DC due to the hope and expectation that Cleveland would be the next boom city (or at least people would find what I already knew, about how great it is). I was so home sick, while watching from a distance what seemed like so many great things happening). After being back a little over 10 years now a certain reality has set in. The region has been udderless for a long time and Frank Jackson was Mayor for far too long, so it is going to take some time to dig out of that. There is still a negative connotation to the area, crime has continued to go up where it has gone down in other places and it is harder to recruit people to come here which I know from time spent at CCF (I know everyone will argue this, but it's true). It's hard to believe that the Research Triangle has more Cache than Cleveland, but that is what we are dealing with. And to show not everything is all or nothing. I know of plenty of people that have taken the plunge and moved to the Cleveland area and love it. We have amazing amenities and the people are generally wonderful here.

Cleveland: Cleveland Clinic Developments (Non-University Circle)
So the wonderful Cleveland Clinic Lyndhurst Campus (previously TRW headquarters) has been on the market for nearly 4 years. The Clinic is indicating because no acceptable offers have been received, they now intend to demolish this architecturally significant building to better market the property. They would leave the historic Bolton house that they have not maintained. Not surprising move by the Clinic, but still sad. From the employee portal: ...While the building has been on the market for four years, there have been no acceptable offers on the Lyndhurst property. Potential buyers expressing interest have shared that retrofitting the building to meet their current and/or future needs would result in significant costs, deterring them from moving forward with the buying process. As a result, we will now be transitioning plans to raze the property in an effort to make the land more attractive for development. Plans for demolition will begin later this year. The Bolton House will remain intact and be included in any new development, and all historical records of the building will be retained....

Cleveland: St. Clair-Superior (non-Asiatown): Development and News
This is indeed sad. When we moved back to Cleveland, these places are what excited us about making the move. Visitors from out of town were amazed at the extent of the Eastern European fabric that was still here with these institutions which are not found in many other cities. We also lost Balaton in Shaker Square, even though they are supposed to reopen in Bainbridge, its Bainbridge….

Cleveland: Retail News
“I hope I'm way off. But the new retailers in TC sorta remind me of the shops you saw at Rolling Acres in Akron in the 90's - just before they closed.” Also, generally when you see names that end with “z”, instead of an “s” you know thats where things are going.

Cleveland Heights: Development and News
Couldn't agree more. CH should have been able to capitalize on UC much more than it has, but its vocal residents and reputation for being anti development certainly hasnt helped. Once Cedar Lee gets going im hoping the momentum continues.
