And a Quaker Steak and Lube (which was announced a while ago). 2. Yes, Bon bon was hidden off the back parking lot of Cleveland public Theatre and was basically a commercial and special order bakery... So now they are moving to a bricks and mortar Ohio city location that will include the cafe... So not really a physical loss for DS
  3. No, your actually confusing the 2 new ones. Bon bon is the one that will be next to Crop on Lorain. I posted about on the previous page (theres even pictures). Maggies is further up 25th.
  4. I think because Charlotte is always thought of as a greener pasture. "The new south", and saw a lot of growth, which drew lots of people looking for jobs. Yeah I think many of us wouldnt want to live there, with the exception of Hts121's dad.
  5. Renderings I had seen before had them building along the river. Looked kind of odd to me. I think there was to be an emphasis on regional habitat maybe..
  6. A huge dork no doubt.
  7. WestBLVD is the Cleveland part of Clifton still crappy? It still hasnt been re-paved is that correct?
  8. As I said above, Lakewood opted out of the upgrades since they didnt want to contribute the match necessary which at this point in time was only considered a luxury. Therefore Im not sure what role they play in this announcement. Maybe the previous things had more to do with a median and landscaping as opposed to the simple transit upgrades listed above.
  9. It sounds more like that plan/study they did previous to the Browns thing. I remember these types of descriptions from that. Streets were angled to deal with harsh winter conditions. One of those things you never hear much about again.. "Residents and visitors alike will be charmed by neighborhood’s small, intricate alleyways, courts and mews that provide a continual source of visual surprise. They are all interlinked yet diverse – defined by a series of lively places and destinations, including retail-lined streets, parks, courtyards, an enhanced promenade, public terraces and interior winter gardens."
  10. First Interstate purchases Oakwood Country Club property in Cleveland Heights; makes plans for senior living, retail, greenspacePublished: Tuesday, October 18, 2011, 2:46 PM Updated: Tuesday, October 18, 2011, 2:46 PM CLEVELAND HEIGHTS -- First Interstate Properties has finalized the purchase of the 90 acres of the former Oakwood Country Club located within Cleveland Heights. First Interstate Properties President Mitchell Schneider said that his firm is spending $2.2 million for the Cleveland Heights property, property he is looking to develop into senior living and retail use. In addition, Schneider said First Interstate would preserve the Oakwood clubhouse, built in 1905, for use by the seniors living on the site, and preserve 30 acres as greenspace. http://www.cleveland.com/sun/all/index.ssf/2011/10/first_interstate_purchases_oak.html
  11. Also I thought Lakewood opted out, since they didnt want to contribute their match...
  12. As were the people on the Landmarks Commission but.... Well they were trying to craftily word it that way. I believe the emphasis was on parking within a certain amount of feet, but that spilled into/was spun into the need for a covered connected walkway (although apparently the city never asked to see this info). There may have actually been some language about avialable parking spaces but the rest was spun out of that.
  13. They would have wanted to tear down that building for closer parking regardless of the bridge. Although they clearly didnt expect any obsticles after the city rolled over for them and the planning commission not demanding higher standards and being so shortsighted .
  14. Thats right.
  15. Well this would be quite the news. Do you know who was speaking/what program they were speaking on? Not really. There was always a good chance that it wouldnt be built. As of now it is still not in the construction plans, just on the wish list of Rock Gaming. There are a number of obstacles, many of which were discussed on here.
  16. So no funds allocated for the Mayfield/Little Italy rapid station?
  17. Also BrownFlynn a Highland Heights corporate consulting firm that specializes in helping business adopt sustainable practices is moving downtown. I havent seen much about it or how big they are, but it looks like a good handfull of people and growing. Andrew Watterson, Cleveland's Chief of Sustainability is leaving the city and joining them.
  18. Exactly. Or how it doesnt relate to the rest of the hospital at all, on these things I agree totally.
  19. Havent tried Flip side, but any place that serves on plates with crispy edges gets my vote. By the way they are based in Hudson and have an agreement to open one in the Aloft complex in the Flats East Bank. According to this article they had signed the agreement by May for a spot in Columbus. http://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2011/05/06/hudson-based-flip-side-to-open-burger-biz-in-cleveland

  21. There seemed to be alot of food news in Scene this week. Especially quite a bit happening on Lee in Cleveland Heights. "Last week, Cleveland Heights resident Keith Logan opened SweetieFry, a quaint little shop that serves "hand-crafted ice cream and impossibly good fries."" "Wine Time: While Cleveland Heights residents were crushed to see Seitz-Agin Hardware close after more than 50 years, many will be thrilled to learn that a local resident is giving the space new life. The Wine Spot, a retail wine and craft beer store. He will run the shop — which is expected to opening in November" "Sayonara: After a relatively quiet three-year run, Ariyoshi, a sushi spot at 2206 Lee Rd., has closed. Taking its place will be the Heights Grill, a sports bar and pub." Also interesting is the LaBoca/Roseangel/Barrio place in Detroit Shoreway is changing once again......... "Spice Guy: Ben Bebenroth, the chef and owner of Spice of Life Catering, has taken over the Detroit-Shoreway property that in recent years — and months — has housed Snickers, La Boca, Roseangel, and most recently Barrio, which hosted its last salsa night last weekend. Bebenroth will open Spice Kitchen and Bar sometime before the end of the year." http://www.clevescene.com/cleveland/bites/Content?category=1520384
  22. This is the 3rd place this was posted. Although I incorrectly posted it in "Cleveland Neighborhoods"
  23. I dont care. As an inner ring suburb (more than Beechwood) they need to be able to compete and diversify their tax base. Currently a growing company would have to leave the city for Beechwood or farther out. There is a ton of residential along this line already, adding some office and live work will only add to the mix.
