  1. I say go for it. but the Xecutive lounge has been open for some time now.... Remember, we were talking about the spelling of the name.... Make sure to report back!
  2. Missin, Ive asked this numerous times and never got an answer. In fact ususally nobody seems to know what I'm talking about (even the locals), but yes the whole thing was lit to the bottom of the tower before the renovation started.
  3. And thats what Hamiltons was supposed to be... I wonder what happened to that? Oh and docbroc, the Xecutive Lounge, is primarily for/caters to the black community, so yes in a sense it "isnt really for white people", and the converstaion happened on here somewhere. I'm not really sure what your flabbergasted about though, this is done all the time in the black community?
  4. I Sounds like it's an oasis in a state with an 11% unemployment rate. And now you see the relevancy of the post. It is possible to have prosperity with even a relatively high rate of unemployment. Prospertity at least gives the underclass a chance to escape economically. The Left would prefer that if some have to be miserable, that we all be miserable (Ohio, Michigan) and have no hope, rather than at least somebody having a chance to prosper. Tedolph Yes, and CLE is prospering relative to alot of other metro's But in Cleveland it's somewhat the opposite. If it is prospering more than other metros and much of the south (like Greenville, S.C.) it certainly doesnt look like it in comparison (although things tend to be more organic and often less visible in N.E. Ohio).
  5. it appears to be an outdoor roof top patio area. not sure if it will always be open or only for special events. I believe that area was just gravel previously. Unless they are just fixing a leak or something, it may be nice to have as a terrace area.

Are you talking about DFAS geeting additional people or the Federal Building redo? If your talking about the Federal Builidng redo you are in the wrong thread. But yeah that is supposedly still happening. And DFAS has hired additional people not the amount hoped for though.
  7. People were calling for her resignation ever since the Tea Party incident the other week in Avon. Well many have been calling for it before that, but...... I think things were just getting more and more sticky for her, especially as her husband starts the campaign business and the nature of the paper etc...
  8. "There's a few exceptions, including this one on drexel. A few of the houses in this neighborhood, including this one, have bars on its 1st floor windows." Im really surprised they dont all have them. In DC it is just standard. That wonderful house with the for sale sign, I saw a while back on Howard Hanna's site. It really is nice and they did a great job of restoring it. Too bad they wont get much for it.
  9. Thats West 95th off of Clifton and Baltic.
  10. That may have to do with the "Lakes to Lake" trail that they are building linking trails from the Shaker Lakes to Lake Erie trails. They are also supposed to be putting in some sort of public art project at the bottm of the hill.
  11. It was mentioned to be a 2 level store tht would go into Uptown.
  12. And fortunately we are not really having to deal with a series of clubs that are catering to the mindset of the Ted Nuggent/lyrics/crowd.. At least not that I know of in the urban settings of Cleveland. Maybe in some backwoods place where it isn't affecting as many other people though. Yes OK, I would be just as prejudice of something like that...
  13. "According to Miskin, the most powerful forces aligned against him are racism and the financial interests of those who are heavily invested in the economic development of the Ohio City area. This has resulted in adversely differential treatment by the City of Cleveland for his bar, which primarily serves a minority clientele, he said. “Ohio City is developing and if you are not the white, yuppie type of establishment, they do not want you,” said Miskin. In their fight against what Miskin views as discriminatory treatment, unfair community opposition, and a three-pronged legal attack (a charge of operating an illegal dance club, an objection to a renewal of the club’s liquor license tendered by Ward 14 Councilman Joe Santiago, and a pending eviction action by a new landlord), Miskin and his partner, Davorin Stenanovic, have retained the services of Terry Gilbert, a prominent local civil rights attorney." I dont know how many times I have seen this type of statement used, and call it what you will, but it is ALWAYS the same outcome.... Its just too bad that it amounts to profiling or being defined as racism.
  14. Strangely this particular business was recently held up as an example of a hip-hop club that hasnt had the type of incidents that people want to associate with them (and its the same everywhere). Call me a cynic, but its obviously just part of the culture of the people that they cater to, so no I wouldnt want this type of business anywhere near me.
  15. I was saying that because of this: "Now let's see if they pull a stunt stopping renovations again, unless they get their way." But yeah I could see that, and Forest City would likely understand the possible issue with the credits, I just dont think at the time when they purchased the land that they knew they would be putting a pedestrain bridge into Higbee.
  16. I have a feeling that was already negotiated when Rock Gaming bought the Tower City land for $85MM Now let's see if they pull a stunt stopping renovations again, unless they get their way. Well, thats not really negotiable. They can squawk all they want about that. That would be like arguing with the IRS.
  17. Correct.
  18. Theres a couple that do this in Bratenahl as well, in a lakeside mansion.
  19. I tried to tell you guys that this would be the likely outcome (I do this kind of stuff in Washington!). Thats not to say that Dan wouldnt just pay the penalties, which may just happen since the current design of the welcome center sort of revolves around having this bridge. I think they really thought given the bending over the city was doing that the bridge wouldnt be an issue.
  20. Good stuff! Something interesting I noticed from the article: "Developer Dick Pace, whose nearby Baker Electric Building is filled with small tenants, is negotiating with the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority to buy a dilapidated building at 6611 Euclid Ave. The building could become another option for growing companies that - like HeartLab - otherwise might leave." Yes, thats the faceless building next to Dunham Tavern!
  21. Well yea, for places like Chicago, DC, New York where housing costs, scarce parking and long commutes make this obvious, but I wouldnt exactly put Cincinnati in that same category... Oh like, right here.... (and not that Cincinnati is the same as Buffalo or Cleveland, but would be closer to that category than the places the story talks about.) "weak market cities with poor transit and relatively traffic-free highways — like Buffalo, New York — may see little price appreciation around rail transit stops. In these cases, rail transit has little inherent advantage over highway travel."

I was kidding...... Hey RNR make sure you try Party City and the other party stores. I beleive there is still one at Southland. On the website they show this....

Have you tried any thrift/2nd hand stores? Call your local fire department they maybe able to advise. Because fire departments get their helmets at thrift/2nd hand stores?
  24. Ha... Simply put didnt I say it for you? I know I know.
  25. I'm not saying it wouldnt make sense, Im saying I hate to see Cleveland struggle any more than it already is. Yes, it likely would be the most logical thing. Im just concerned that East Cleveland, being in the state it is in, and the further drain on the city of Cleveland which is stretched well beyond its limits, so Im just not sure how it will handle more problems. I know why the neighborhoods of Cleveland have struggled. Im actually more worried about the remaining viable neighborhoods (that existed when I left Cleveland) that seem much less viable now. Once that happens in this region we will not see them come back in our lifetime. Aside from the few small pockets of bright spots, most things have gotten worse. Yes, bottom line is Im worried about the effect this would have on a city that already seems to be stretched to its limits.
