Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
The PD seems to have the same problem differentiating between the Convention Center and Medical Mart..... "Workers drive in second caisson for medical mart, 63 more to go CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Crews this week drove in the second caisson to support Cuyahoga County's new underground convention center.

Well I would think that you should twitter that you would like him to keep his initial word about weaving the casino into the current fabric and not creating a bunker, and mention that are the type of young person that the city is supposed to be trying to attract (and the type the his company would try to attract), and you would appreciate a greater respect for the historical nature and urban fabric of downtown. And that parking blah blah.............................

It says after Wednesday we should know the details of the agreement, and that everybody should be pleased with it...? Apparently it was too early to discuss details.

Has nobody voted! We are in the same place that we were in on Friday!!! Even the Over-the-Rhine Foundation moved up to 4 from 13, largely as a result of posting on here (at least there were responses from people saying they voted). Whats wrong with you Clevelanders!

That much is obvious by the way he sells out to the highest bidder (I believe Peabody learned that the hard way, and one of the reasons she ultimately turned against Cleveland and left). Certainly the key to the campaign idea of getting them out of office would be "providing there is someone stronger and more capable of taking their place" (thats the biggest issue in Cleveland is the leadership vacume) So really if there was such a campaign, it should be to first recruit a more capable person to run against them, and then campaign against them. Just to get them out of office I agree with you, the opponents could actually be worse (but certainly could be better).

Also, changing the charter for the Landmarks Commission. Since two of the non-city affiliated Commission members abstained from voting since they may have benefitted from the decision. They should be allowed to have alternates in these cases.

Outside of different Leadership not a whole lot....... There was time for dialogue, before it became public, and the city was in a good position to make some demands, but it chose to lay down and roll over ... p-Pat, wasnt it you that suggested somewhere that the next group needs to be ABC/ABJ.. I think that your right there.

The Cleveland Restoration Society is hosting a happy hour at their Sarah Benedict house headquarteres tomorrow for the Lower Prospect Group and supporters. No moreso than making people cross Ontario.... which is, I believe, what most here would prefer to the gerbel tube. Just saying that we can't have it both ways. Yes, it is moreso. Now, people who want to walk along the street will have to cross BOTH Ontario AND many lanes of parking garage driveway traffic, which IMO is more dangerous than crossing a street (since there are no traffic lights and walk signs, just impatient drivers that want to get in or out of their parking lot). Exactly.. Hardly the same thing.. Hmmm crossing at a crosswalk..... Walking along a sidewalk that has multiple lanes interupting coming out of nowhere.

Well I think people also need to be reminded of the wins that have happened, which often dont seem like many. I know there are many here in DC that have given up in a sense and had to get out. Some would like to return but they need to see more positive change there... So many people just view this as another example of a place where that isnt happening and where the local leadership just doesnt get it.

And the pedestrian bridge will have a different battle (so its not certain that can happen). That will need seperate approval from the state due historic to tax credits used on Higbee.

On the Landmarks Commission agenda for Thursday, June 9th (besides the Columbia Building of course) is 1293 W 9th street as mentioned in the rendom developments thread will become a restaurant. I believe the last remaining space that has not gone through a renovation on the street. Tomo Restaurant and Lounge (before and after) http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/landmark/agenda/2011/06092011/index.php

Im sure its being explored. The Higbee Building is on the National Register of Historic Places but that doesnt afford it much protection in this instance, and it doesnt have to go through 106 review. But.... because it has recieved historic tax credits there are some hoops that need jumping through and they will have to pursue an amendment through the Ohio Historic Preservation Office which will have futher review of the project.

Dan Musson is the Historic Preservation Compliance Officer at City of Cleveland. Why do you suggest contacting him.. now?

Cleveland: Rockometer Proposal
Yeah. Odd he's talking about it one month as if it may still happen and then the next month he realizes a new Coast Gaurd station is going up. The new Coast Gaurd building has been in the works for that spot for some time now.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
I dont know, but it sounds like another one those places that ends up struggling because it doesnt know what it wants to be... Like back when downtown had Flo, which had really good food, beautiful place, had dance beats thumping etc. etc.. I know intially I would see older people or families in there eating, and next thing you knew there was thumping music etc... So, the place didnt find its "place"... Same thing thing for many other places I can think of (Like what eventually became Jaxs). Maybe Im wrong, and that area could use something like this if it really is lacking a places that fill this niches, but likely one of the features will become unimportant (for example the food)
