Cleveland: University Circle: Cleveland Clinic Developments
yeah being remote since pandemic, i have now lost my old offices at main campus due to people being shifted out of P, but i’m not sure where they are in the process. MBNA seems like such a waste as it always seems abandoned, but legal is also located there. I have gotten conflicting reports of TRW. Every time I hear its been sold somebody that works out there says it isn't true…

yes i thought it was a ways off and still needed approval, but then heard yesterday that they are vacating the building. I will ask around.

They will be taking down the P building. Maybe its for that.

Cleveland Heights: Development and News
There is also a troubling poster on NextDoor that keeps screaming “gentrification”. She has specially stated she is against development of any kind. Emily S. is her name.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
exactly. many east siders had expected this one to be on the closure list the past few times, but surprised when Mentor happened and not this one. Unless things get worse for Macy’s, one would think they would want to keep an east side presence.

Odd about Macy’s though. Its not like they wouldn't also benefit from the reconfiguration and redo.

Agree. Some of the angles where the top isn't well defined or it blocks the more cohesive, elegant buildings i don't care for it, but in this view it looks great!

So thats a bigger park space than i thought. Did they increase the size to appease the park people, or? But again the park people are fighting this because they want a park…?

Not mentioned whatsoever unless i somehow missed. Thought it was strange though.

Cleveland: Shaker Square: Development and News
Do you mean the median along Van Aken? I actually thought they were very nice. 150 new, nice sized trees that grant funds paid for. Plus, its better than what the city would have done.

They are said to be looking for an additional site in Cleveland. I have also heard they were looking downtown. Im sure either place would be welcome.

Cleveland: Random Visualizations & Massings
Yes indeed. Also, Landstudio may be good to talk to about this. I know their mission has evolved over the years and I'm never quite sure what their focus is at any given time. I will check with my neighbor who as on their board. I know at one time they would have been all over this and may have even been responsible for the initial project under whatever name they would have had at that time.

Sadly no. It was shut down nearly 10 years ago. In typical Cleveland fashion the folks running Oxbow couldn't keep their hands out of the cookie jar. Since its shutdown the executive director Tom Newman passed away while waiting to be sentenced for embezzlement.

Cleveland: Random Visualizations & Massings
The neglect of the bridge lighting has been lamented quite a bit over the years on this site. It's clear that some of Cleveland's best and most unique attributes have fallen by the wayside for the past 16 years. I already get that Bibb would be open and onboard to getting these bridges relit, but he may have bigger fish to fry initially. A plan really needs to be spearheaded by a group and adopted by one of the non-profits for funding and execution. I know for a fact that at least a couple of local Foundations would support such an effort. It just needs a group to champion it.

The famed Shaker Heights neighborhood of Cleveland actually.

Affordable Housing
Nice twisting of words BS. Absolutely correct Surfohio. Having worked for HUD in DC, trust me this was my frustration. Unfortunately, Dems can seldom see any other solutions other than simply increasing funding, which yes has made me cynical of Dems, even though I am one. correction: used to be one.

Cleveland: Hotel Development
yes this is the building proposed for the 21c Museum.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Cool. So about where the red crane is currently located would be the center of the building?

Suburban Sprawl News & Discussion
Correct its both. Especially in a stagnant population, sprawl will contribute most initially to quality of life issues in inner ring communities etc. but there is clearly a point where they feed off each other, and a tipping point where areas with decling quality of life is going to cause more/contribute more to sprawl. Anybody with an Urban planning degree understands this. I remember making fun of my sister and her husband for moving out to where there was little crime and schools were “good”, but after some years have past and getting older, i have adjusted my UO blinders, and realize i don't think i would want to raise kids where she used to live either. When i moved back from DC almost 10 years ago now, i never thought i would want live live anywhere farther out than Shaker, and thought I was in the perfect community, but i have to admit the nightly sound of gunshots and frequent high speed chases is wearing on me a bit (granted most of it is coming from Cleveland, which has been leaderless for as long as FJ has been mayor), but i am starting to think about where I may end up next. Many of my neighbors are either from outside the Cleveland area (like a next door neighbor that moved to Shaker from Texas, choosing Shaker simply for its storied reputation, but then only lasting a year before putting his house on the market due to quality of life issues (in Shaker, the appearance doesn't match some of the issues we see), only to have another out of towner that took a job in University Circle), or moved here from Cleveland Hts etc. which started seeing some of the issues sooner. Wonder where they will go next?

LLC. I think you may be one of the only ones that gets it, but I don't think most people want to hear about quality of life issues here.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
A double whammy as this is within a week of the closure of Lucys Sweet Surrender, the Hungarian bakery in Shaker. indeed it sucks.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Its too bad they wouldn't also light the angled top from within using the same color scheme as the stripe. In the night shots, with the exception of the logo, that top pretty much disappears into darkness.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Plus they had on the news the other night, growing regions and places like Phoenix have been recruiting police away from Cleveland and NEOhio. While they don't necessary blow the local pay out of the water, they are offering hefty signing bonuses as well as touting the better quality of life (weather). They spoke with several that accepted the offer. At least Bibb indicated he wanted to boost police salaries among other things…

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
In addition, what they also could have mentioned is that this is a very small, specific segment at Progressive, outside of that, they are still on a hiring spree.

Cleveland Mayoral Race 2021
Agree, but also that Issue 24 was authored by the ultra sleezy Subodh Chandra.
