Cleveland: Random Development and News
Oh that's where that is... It's an upscale/ultra lounge for African Americans. There was a story about it in some national publication over the weekend (I didn't know where to post it). The story was about Black entrepreneurship etc. I didn't really know where they were talking about... It said "Prospect", so I actually thought it was going to be where View was.. I had many comments about the article, but don't know if this is the appropriate place. *Here is the link to the article: http://www.thegrio.com/specials/the-black-agenda/entrepreneurs-help-state-of-black-unemployment-in-cleveland.php

I knew what you meant ink and was wondering the same thing. It certainly seemed as though it was reskinned at some point, I just havent found anything anywhere indicating what was underneath.

Cleveland - Just trying to have some fun!
Thats right and its not related to Rosetta. So I guess the original question remains.... Its been there a while and Ive been asking about it for at least 3 years, but have never gotten an answer. Maybe the Maron's started it as an additional level to their penthouse, but thats as far as it got..? *For clarification purposes.. The Maron space is what looks like it was an additon to the top at a previous point (below the metal structure with the big windows). The Resetta space is on a different part of the building (back side), same building or connected building I forget....

Huh, I didnt realize the Cleveland area had so few hotel rooms compared to Columbus and Cincinnati.

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
Well theres no debate there. The jenga one was just basically a photophop image of an idea for a second building for the site, not something designed for there. I agree about the second one in that it would have complimented the Breuer buillding (make sure you look at the video link also posted for the interior.. The terace would have been awesome! Under current conditions this second building would be highly unlikely. At the time there werre several large tenants looking for spaces (before the crash), and since several have found them. Would make an impressive entrance to the city and view from Progressive.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
clvlndr, a while back there was quite a bit of news of someone buying up many of the buildings south of the Main Ave. bridge with plans of filling with restaurants and what not, which I think you will definately see once the east bank starts to take shape. I think in the meantime it wouldnt have made much sense for them to re-open things in this currently barren area. Also seperately, I know there are pans to re-open the old Watermark as a restaurant, which once things come together, could certainly be a goldmine.

That was tthe first "Jenga" design.. It eventually graduated to this. It would have "hung" over the road. http://videos.cleveland.com/plain-dealer/2008/07/virtual_tour_of_ameritrust_com.html

Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
OMG Strap, that fits my feelings to a tee... Up until not that long ago, I was regurgitating all that pro-Cleveland stuff to people all the time, and then realized maybe I was just trying to prove to myself what I wanted Cleveland to be (or at least known for) as opposed to the usual perception. I mean sure over time certain realities have sort of set in. But I still regard the place highly, and dream much the same way. Of course when I bring out of towners in, I do still regurgitate much of that stuff, and they are always impressed with the place, because it tends to not live up to the dump they expect.

The Crains version mentions renewed talk of a tunnel, which would deifnately be [preferable to a bridge connecting to Public Hall. Although according to some, the tunnel already exists.. Crowne Plaza sale talks awaken prior tunnel plans Bidders eye connection to convention center By STAN BULLARD 4:30 am, March 28, 2011 A potential sale of the Crowne Plaza City Centre in downtown Cleveland has revived talk of building a tunnel beneath East Sixth Street that would connect the property at 777 St. Clair Ave. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20110328/SUB1/303289986

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
Here we go.... Councilman clears path for University Circle apartment project Published: Friday, March 25, 2011, 4:15 PM Updated: Friday, March 25, 2011, 4:31 PM CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A $10 million apartment project could move forward in University Circle, now that a Cleveland councilman is willing to support rezoning of land along Hazel Drive. Councilman Jeff Johnson, who tabled the rezoning in early February, could introduce legislation Monday to prepare the 1.4-acre site for 59 apartments. After taking more than a month to deliberate, Johnson has set aside his objections to the density of the development and the target market - renters instead of buyers. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2011/03/councilman_clears_path_for_uni.html

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
That could very well be a part of it. There are a lot of other people for panhandlers to bug in NYC, Chicago, etc. Thats exactly it, as has been mentioned in the Public Square discusion. Because DC certainly has many (and often aggressive) panhandlers, but there are so many poeple out and about here, and the sidewalks are so full that they dont necessarily stand out like they do in Cleveland. The effect is diluted and your not such an open target.

Ohio Cities' Downtown Population
I would guess that the non-low income people in the city of Cleveland will end up being a-wash since last we had been following the few remaining stable neighborhooods of Cleveland (Clifton area, parts of Shaker Square, and other previously stable areas of the West side (as well as some of the remaining "old" neighborhoods where the last remaining ethnic enclaves are dying out)) have been seeing quite a bit of transitional pressures, and have been losing a good bit of their middle-to higher income base.... I think It would really take quite a bit of positive economic pressure (a robust economy) for some time, to really so measureable changes....

Cincinnatus has moved to Minneapolis!
Keith, you tend to belabor certain things. I beleive it was already addressed that Minneapolis lacks the blighted areas that you will find in Ohio or the majority of other large cities in the country that have large black populations.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Hmmm interesting Hts... I have a feeling no matter how it was said you would have found a way to spin it into being racist (since MTS isnt here to do that), and frankly I thought I was playing it safe by not being specific. Everything I have seen and everyone I have talked to indicates the fights were due to the black kids converging in fron tof Tower City. "The majority of those arrested were teenagers. Some molded their fingers into gang signs that they showed before, during and after the fights". “The problem was, in a nutshell: The parade ended at the same time the Cleveland public school kids got off the RTA at Public Square,” says the cop, noting that most of the violence consisted of black schoolkids hammering one another." Sounds like they were aresting the wrong people.. Public urination F#$& that... Of course we all know they cant just arrest black kids in Cleveland without repercussions.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
What a shame. The one day that many of the suburbanites come downtown, and "they" still manage to ruin it for others. I wouldnt bring my little kid down with stuff like that going on (the one in the story). I dont care what those of you on here as being not true or overblown. This tells me otherwise.
