Sad about Gertrude. I try to make sure everyone I know patronizes the old bakeries there, and do my best to buy up and bring stuff back to DC on my visits (in hopes of holding on to Clevelands special past), but theres only so much I can bring back and give away! (After all, all your going to find in DC is cupcake shops.)

Deagans - Kitchen and Bar on Detroit. Nice place and has been getting rave reviews (right downtown Lakewood) http://www.deagans.com/default.html The Clifton martini and wine bar is nice. I know you said not trendy, but its nice but casual, you can just hang out and order appetizers + its in my uncles building. :-D Cleveland end of Clifton. Players is always great!- Cleveland: Demolition Watch
I saw that last night... I wasnt sure if it meant the actual church or not, but no ohther details were given and its the only thing that is pictured.- Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Wasnt sure whether to put this here or the race thread... I hope this doesnt lead to more BS with enforcement. Its kindof like making the observation that blacks are arrested for robbery at a disproportunately high number than whites in DC (nearly 95% more) yet only make up 54% of the population.. (yet in reality blacks commit over 99% of the robberies in DC). Blacks being ticketed in high numbers for not paying RTA fares in ClevelandPublished: Sunday, December 12, 2010, 5:45 AM CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Blacks have received a disproportionately high number of citations for not paying Regional Transit Authority fares, a Plain Dealer analysis has found. More than 85 percent of the citations for the infraction were issued to them during the past two years, the analysis found. http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2010/12/blacks_ticketed_in_high_number.html- Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
http://www.deagans.com/menu.html Apparently there is a lunch menu and dinner menu. There are no Apps on the lunch menu or small plates. Just salads, sandwiches and a few entrees. I didn't see the pulled pork on the dinner menu. Ah.... I guess I was there for early happy hour... I remember the "bar snacks" and "small plates" menu. Lots of things to try still.- Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Went 4 2 dollar taco Tuesday last week. It was excellent. Superb brew selection. I will be back Yeah I went over Thanksgiving weekend and sat at the bar. But we did order appetizers (or small plates?) Very good.. But next time I think I will be ordering the pulled pork since that's like the 4th time I heard how great it was. Nice people too. The owner is a young guy and is usually there to make sure things are going well. FYI, they also have vegetarian Wednesdays..- Cleveland - University Circle - Euclid Avenue
Outstanding tour Hts121! Its everythiing I wanted to see when I was back for my very quick visit but didnt have enough time.... Exciting time indeed. I really do like how the Coltman project turned out... We came very close to buying the end unit, but decided to hold out for the perfect house in the Heights.- Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino

More encouraging news for Cleveland.... (Sounds like one down and one to go!) I found this line especially encouraging in regard to the remaining competition: Future uncertain for proposed medical mart in New York City Published: Friday, November 19, 2010, 9:00 PM Updated: Saturday, November 20, 2010, 4:44 AM "Planned as a 12-story, 1.5-million-square-foot trade center, the privately financed Nashville project would be much larger than its Cleveland counterpart. Market Center Management has signed two tenants, Daugherty said, and more will be announced in the coming weeks. He said 60 to 70 must be signed for developers to get financing." Only 2 of 60 - 70 needed to get financing.... it could be a while for them, and with Cleveland's momentum here, I think they will have a hard time getting there... http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2010/11/future_uncertain_for_proposed.html#incart_hbx- Cleveland Area: American Greetings HQ relocation?
Wasn't my earlier post acurate? LOL What, this one?: "Can we stop! Seriously. Put a lock on this before it gets out of hand." I dont understand.... Oh you must mean this one: "This sounds like Eaton - Part Duex!" :-D- Cleveland Area: American Greetings HQ relocation?
In the Crains article (same line that Eaton used): American Greetings officials said they considered sites in downtown Cleveland but could not find a property that fit the company's needs. The company initially considered more than 15 sites in Ohio and sites in three other states. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20101119/FREE/101119650- Cleveland Area: American Greetings HQ relocation?

Unless its someplace outstanding, yes I think downtown has been saturated untill more out of towners are drawn in. Hopefully this will change when the casino and medmart open. It will also help if more housing gets underway. Zach Bruell and many other restaurant owners agree with this.- Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
When I was in Cleveland nearly 2 months ago, we went there on a Friday night and it was pretty dead. There were no events that night, but still it was sad to see. We sat at the patio bar and had good drinks but the food was very hit and miss. The Shrimp was awful.... Tasted like cardboard. - Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
