The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
Thanks for that CD, another great read. I left a comment. But I can certainly get everything she is saying about moving somewhere else and longing to be back. Such good points about the possibilities.

Cleveland: Calfee Building (Rockwell and East 6th)
Nevermind it is just Key center on Superior not Key Tower (although I could swear the original version said Key Tower...?) :drunk:

Cleveland: Calfee Building (Rockwell and East 6th)
The Crains version of the story... Of special note: "Calfee will move from 800 Superior Ave., a nearby skyscraper, where it occupies five floors." hmmmm... either/or or both??? *I guess that would be the space in the McDonald Building that Hts121 had mentioned. Calfee, Halter & Griswold to make former WKYC Building its home By STAN BULLARD 4:19 pm, July 13, 2010 The Calfee, Halter & Griswold law firm plans to put a different kind of stamp on downtown Cleveland's office market by occupying all of the historic former WKYC Building, 1401 E. Sixth St., in a $30 million project that includes construction of an adjoining, 190-space parking deck. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20100713/FREE/100719956

Cleveland: Calfee Building (Rockwell and East 6th)
As I stated above "*As I think has been validated quite a bit already, not driving isnt a valid option for many." If youve been following, Public Transportation is becoming less of a valid option for most, even where it may have been one before (right RNR?). The majority of the 300 plus employees I dont believe will be taking cabs to work...? Again, I'll be glad to see a surface lot go away...

Cleveland: Calfee Building (Rockwell and East 6th)
Coming from the Key tower (and having looked at Chagrin Highlands) Im guessing its more of a convenience issue. I would actually prefer this plan to what is already there (a surface lot). And again, demand for the garages in the area is only expected to increase with the CC and MM.
-
Cleveland: Calfee Building (Rockwell and East 6th)
Theres nothing to disagree with here... Im not saying Im for parking lots or more garages, Im just stating what company's locating downtown that have suburbanites running/working for them tend to look at as well as some of the reasons company's sometimes choose not to stay downtown. *As I think has been validated quite a bit already, not driving isnt a valid option for many.

Cleveland: Calfee Building (Rockwell and East 6th)
In the rendering it looks like thats what they did...
-
Cleveland: Calfee Building (Rockwell and East 6th)
Probably not, but it is an incentive for employees and clients I guess... It does say they were also looking at Chagrin Highlands! *Also its a garage, which if Im thinking right will be tucked into the block, and parking may become a premium in that area when the Convention Center and MM open.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
If it were anyone else, I would assume that the statement was a forgery. Good. Freaking. Grief. I'm ambivalent about Gilbert's letter, though I completely understand why he wrote it and what he must have been feeling at the time. This, though, makes me want to go back and revise my opinion of Gilbert's letter upward--anything that gets under that bloviator's skin that badly can't be all bad. Sorry I couldnt resist....

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
Yeah there seems to be some obsession with demolishing the 12 story building on Euclid among the different entities that have had a plan for this site (whether keeping the Breuer building or not). I just dont get it....

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Its amazing (and nice) the negative attention Lebron is getting. Im getting alot of what an A-hole he is even in D.C. Of course my one friend already hated him ever since she met him a couple of years ago. She represented Chris Paul and Lebrons gang has been after him for a couple years. As of this morning: "After years of recruiting, Chris Paul will finally join LeBron James' LRMR marketing company. James and LRMR CEO Maverick Carter have been recruiting Paul for more than two years to join their fledgling marketing company, and the All-Star guard finally informed his agency at Octagon that he had decided to leave." Wow, all this time I was standing up for him thinking she was jealous.... She knew what she was talking about after all.

Cleveland: 2014 Gay Games IX News & Discussion
Oh trust me, DC is the same. I wouldnt be surprised if a similar story comes out from DC complaining how it wasnt fair, Cleveland got it. DC arrogantly thought they won it as well. Even at the announcemnt ceremony, DC came across as extremely arrogant to the Cleveland contingent and even Boston as if they had it in the bag, talking about how they were going to be doing things etc.... "but We're DC" All I know is there community rally in DC was beyond pathetic, and frankly embarrasing. From everything I had seen, Cleveland blew them out of the water.

Cleveland: University Circle News (Non-Construction)
Yeah I'll say. And he doesnt even acknowledge the amount of museums and cultural institutions that are a part of the area when recommending "The Medical District" (Finally, the people at University Circle org. mention this near the bottom). "Yet the same area includes three hospital systems, medical and nursing schools, the local biotech trade group and many of the city's medical startups. Enough. Down with the name University Circle. Expand the borders a bit and call it what it is: The Medical District."

Tell me about Gay Ohio life
Unlucky25, Cleveland is great for being gay in, but as has been mentioned before, it depends what your looking for. There are lots of gay friendly areas around Cleveland (Lakewood, Edgewater, Detroit Shoreway, Ohio City, Tremont, Cleveland Hts, Shaker Sq. etc.), so much so that it appears to lack a "gay ghetto" that some younger gays may find appealing. When I lived in Columbus 15+years ago, it was likely better there for this, but I believe even there it has changed and spread/scattered. So as a whole Cleveland has alot of what Mayday mentioned, where many of my favorite places are places where people co-exist and co-mingle, that arent really defined either way, but are just "open". I think Cleveland is especially great for established/long term couples, because you can basically live like a king there, with a 2 income household: its an easy place to live with tons of amenities and you can afford to live in a fabulous house. Thats why me and my partner are trying to move back there from DC. Good Luck!
