Neighborhood Stabilization Program Demolitions in Ohio
Well many of the things Ive read regarding Cleveland, indicated that the mayor wanted to spend the majority of their share for demolition (in this article 14.5 million of the 25.5 million share). So not exactly 15%. Thats 1700 demolitions. http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2009/01/mayor_frank_jackson_wants_fede.html The article was from earlier last year so maybe (and hopefully) they have developed some coordinated and sensible approach, as opposed to the mayor just making a willy nilly and uninformed announcement of what he thinks would be best.

Neighborhood Stabilization Program Demolitions in Ohio
Although I believe Cleveland is a seperate allocation than Cuyahoga County. If I recall, Cleveland's which was something like 40 million was heavy on the demolitions.

Cleveland: Demolition Watch
This article pissed me off. The jist of the article is that most of the Clinic falls in a zone that isn’t covered by either design review districts.. "The Clinic's main campus sits in a gap between the design review districts created for Midtown in 1995 and University Circle in 2007." (well maybe consider expanding the University circle or midtown one..?). But the city isn’t exactly interested in that, since they don’t really care about historic preservation or old buildings. More of the disturbing statements: “He said that before seeking a demolition permit, he contacted the city's planning department and the nonprofit Fairfax Renaissance Development Corp., a community development organization with which the Clinic works closely. No objections came up, and the Clinic hasn't received complaints, he said.” So neither the local Community Development Corporation or the City Planning Department had anything to say about it... "The gap in city review authority over demolitions in the Clinic zone has gone largely unnoticed. When asked about it, City Councilwoman Mamie Mitchell, who’s Ward 6 includes most of the Clinic, said she was "shocked" to learn of it." Wow she had no idea…! Its always helpful when everyones clueless "Andrea Taylor, press secretary for Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson, said in several e-mails that the city would not impose a design review district but would be open if it were proposed by stakeholders or City Council representatives in the Clinic area." The clearly just has no concern about this sort of stuff, its only history... and architecture!

Cleveland: Nehst Studios News & Info
I wonder if they even included any type of safegaurds. I mean its not that big of a secret that there some ethical issues with Nehst. I understand that they would want to come across as embracing of the industry, but it shouldnt come without using common sense. I see a scathing Roldo piece coming.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Well, now that he got that out of his system: Derek Anderson apologizes for blasting Cleveland Browns fans By Tony Grossi March 10, 2010, 7:49AM "I said some things to Jeff Schudel (of The News-Herald) earlier that I regret. Those of you who got to know me personally from covering the Browns over the past five years, know this was out of character for me. I wasn't taken out of context, but I was speaking out of my frustration after my career with the Browns came to a close. http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2010/03/derek_anderson_apologizes_for.html

Dear Willyboy: "Your jealous rage leads you to see things that don't actually exist. Anyone with any familiarity with the Catholic school system knows that your view of the world is not only ridiculous, it's impossible." Thats hilarious!!!! Well then I guess you got me there.

Clevelander17, FerrariEnzo and Hts121 both said basically the exact same thing regarding this issue, and I dont believe they were in cahoots..... You seem very confident, and maybe from where you stand you are correct, but I tend to believe FerrariEnzo and Hts121, since that is also what I have heard from people close to the situation over the years.

Cleveland: Shoreway Boulevard Conversion
And if thats the argument than Im even more for decreasing the speed limit just for safety reasons alone. 70mph is way too fast for such a short and curvy stretch. :|

2010 Gubernatorial Election
Thank You. Gramarye seems to forget that there was an incredible amount of manipulation that went on to make things seem justifiable. Yes this argument is old, and I didn't think any of this was still of question. I was there, as were my colleagues (most which were Republican appointees) and the extent of what went on was well beyond criminal. It doesn't have to make you a bad republican to acknowledge and/or denounce what has happened, I mean it only helps in reestablishing some kind of credibility, no..?.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
I feel like I’m in the twilight zone. Exactly. The link I posted provided more background. According to the Litt article the new building under consideration for where Corlett was, was never nesessarily out of consideration, just never had a source of funding. It was never more than a pipe dream without a major donor or unexpected source of funding. (you must have missed the last paragraph) "Over the long term, CSU would like to build an arts complex on its own campus east of the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law at E. 18th Street and Euclid Avenue. Land has been cleared for the arts complex, but that project awaits a donor, Boyle said.." This does make it a bit confusing since they are partially investing in the Allen Theatre space and also possibly buying the building at E. 13th for Arts space etc (I could have seen leasing this if they were planning a new building down the road (again, the proposal at the Corlett sight)). Anyway I got the idea that the possible new building on Euclid was more-so going to be for performing arts stuff where they would still have needed “other” art studio/gallery space (what E 13th would have been...?), but I dont really know.

Also interesting to note, their Vancouver addition has an angley grass roof. Good to see considering the Malls are the roof. Hopefully they could show ways that could be angled over the tracks etc.... http://lmnarchitects.com/work/vancouver_convention_centre_west

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
Your confusing 2 different things here. Oops... what am I missing? I remember plans for a long building between the law school and 21st, which would have had studio space fronting Euclid, and which would also have housed the theater dept. And I thought that had been scuttled in conjunction with the planned move to PHS. As with everything else, youve rather simplified it. There is the move of CSU performances to Allen, and then the Art and Theatre department, which was trying to move to E13th (which was the more recent development). The possibility of a new center on Euclid isnt necessarly scuttled (but supposedly on the back burner), but thats related more to the Allan partnership than the E13th project. http://blog.cleveland.com/architecture/2010/01/cleveland_state_university_art.html No, I think 327 was talking about the the plans for a black box type performing arts space that a study was done for a couple of years ago and proposed to be placed adjacent to the Music/Communication, and Law Buildings. Unless they have been cleaned from this thread (which they should not have because I put them here with permission from CSU) then you can probably find them several pages back (around the mid of 2007, iirc). No, I was quite aware that he was talking about that. That is what I was refering to. Thus the link further explaining...

Cleveland: Shoreway Boulevard Conversion
I've tried to stay out of this discussion, but how is this even remotely true? You've been bitching for the last 2 pages about the 35 mph speed limit and even claimed that peoples very livelihoods hung on whether or not the speed limit would be reduced. and the median, and the........ ? :wtf:?
