Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
I was thinking the same way. I felt optimistic by the response, but then given the history of demolitions lately, it makes you wonder about their sense of resonable. But, given that this building was recently up to code, youd think they wouldnt be able to make the case that is infeasable for re-use. Of course the property owners only see the steady dollar signs of making it a surface lot and could care less about the building. The ideal situation would have the city making it difficult for the owners and them put it up for sale, with the Maron's buying it and extending the E. 4th momentum.

Over the river and through... the Cleveland Metroparks (Gates Mills & Bedford)
Tedolph, I always wondered about this dis-connected part of the metroparks. Is it in the future plans to complete this link that you know of? It would be the missing piece for an otherwise amazing and beautiful park system.

Cleveland: The Residences at 668 Euclid Avenue
Yes the awnings and sign look great. Also the addition of the cornice will make a big difference when done. Adds a wonderful element of detail to the top!

Over the river and through... the Cleveland Metroparks (Gates Mills & Bedford)
This is certainly one of my favorite drives, especially in autumn, with a different discovery each time with the various lanes etc. Gates Mills, Hunting Valley, Moreland Hills and Chagrin Falls, just gorgeous. There are certainly many posh country estates and horse farms. Many rather "Old English" types. Some of the newer stuff that creeps in, Bleh... But it has retained its charm. I have never really been into Bedford. Thanks for the tour.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
I usually try to give Jazz 28 some business when I am back visiting. You are right it is a nice neighborhood hangout, with certainly above average food. For a while I didnt think they would make it, but they had some good write ups and did some specials, and I think they have been doing much better. Also Mark and Debbie are very welcoming, I think that helps in getting people back.

Cleveland: Filling in Euclid Avenue
Nice Job KJP "I think that, from now on, the City of Cleveland should require all developers to pass an land use planning aptitude test." Amen!

Cleveland: Filling in Euclid Avenue
Yeah I cringed when I saw that. The zoning guidelines are in place for a reason, mainly because Cleveland isnt a suburb.

Favorite Music At The Moment?
Ever since I heard this on the Vizio commercial, I cant get it out of my head and has really grown on me. Sorta reminds me of a cross of some stuff from the late 80''s/90's Another goody from them that you may have heard: YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

Same question I asked???

Yeah, its an odd press release.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
And the flip side (and worse part, IMHO), the convention center will lose its views of the lake and north coast harbor, which I would think remove the luster of what could be a very special large event space. I'm not sure I care about providing vehicular access along the edges of Mall C. I care a lot that it's now that much farther from public square, Euclid and most hotels. I can just imagine some medical shoppers walking through an April snowstorm to tower city and muttering to themselves "never again". Exactly.. and thus the extra need for taxi drop offs etc. Thanks KJP, I forgot :|

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
KJP, is the All Aboard Ohio proposal likely to get any real consideration. Are our state leaders at all receptive or interested?

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
I agree that it is much better that it not lined up with City Hall and the court house. I dont know what I think of the entrance pavilions. I guess if the MM wont go on the St Clair property and they wont be using public hall I guess they would be neccesary, but they would only help with access to the CC. (which makes me mad since they would be doing away with any current access points) I believe they had something like $35 million budgeted for Public Hall.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Here is a graphic of what they would like to do. I like how they show mall C intact, but how would the building be accessed? Certainly it would require a drive and drop off lanes etc.. awkward. They say (I guess the first three floors) would look into the convention center, great for medical conventions, but will the CC not be hosting other events? Is that really a plus to see up into a medical mart from the home and flower show? CLICK TO SEE IMAGE: http://media.cleveland.com/metro/photo/mart-graphicjpg-9eb422c9ca0c5ce7.jpg

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
According to the Crains article the "hold out" property owners were asking for $24 million (and they were being offered $17 million (thats not as huge a difference as I expected). Wouldnt it be worth it to just pay the 24? (I mean if they are not putting expense towards public hall now) http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20091117/FREE/911179980 "His firm had expected to pay about the $17 million for the 113 St. Clair Building, its attached parking garage and the site of the Sportsman restaurant. But the two property owners involved have held firm on asking prices that total $24 million. County officials said the tax duplicate puts the value of the group of properties at about $6 million."

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Yeah, now Im totally against this mall C spot and plan. The location would just be bad for something like this. The severing of Public hall from the convention center (and its now non-purpose), the issue of (lack of) easy access to hotels and parking, and it would put a nail in this spot being considered for a possibly necessary future expansion of the convention center space. Plus, the budget for the MM itself isnt big enough to do something significant and/or creative/impressive. It would be an awkward spot when the convention center isnt hosting a medical related conference.

Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
I saw this about LOOP in "Ohio Authority". Looks like its much more than a record store. Cool. http://ohioauthority.com/articles/region/in-the-groove "The former art studio was entirely gutted, and transformed into a two-floor café and record shop. Within the contemporary space, patrons will find a fully equipped coffee house with new equipment from Advanced Brewing Systems in Westlake and SS Kemp to produce perfect espressos and lattes. The cornerstone of the coffee operation will be the roasting machine, which the Loop staff will use to roast fresh beans each day. Pastries and desserts will be available for the after-dinner crowd, and a cozy seating area and bar will provide patrons a place to relax and view a rotating collection of works created by local artists. When the weather allows, an outdoor patio will feature cool comfort – and a fire pit when the mercury dips a bit too low."

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Still no further mention of the County administration site as an option here.? (I want to see that building gone) It just seems like creating access for the Mall C site would be to complicated and mess up this area.

Cleveland neighborhoods/schools
Im guessing not since they stated that their current commute is nearly 2 hrs (Im sure you'll debate what their experience is though). I can see how you would think providing suggestions of urban places to live in or near Cleveland would seem contradictory on Urban Ohio though. :wtf:

Cleveland neighborhoods/schools
Well whether its 45 minutes or an hour (which is still much less than my commute in DC) I think people are responding to the types of areas that the poster requested (not sure why that is funny). Im getting that they may take the tradoff of a 45 minute to hour commute (currently which is 2 hrs) to to be in an area like they requested as opposed to a small town in Wayne county.
