Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Funny we were working on the Ohio City BID in 96' which alot of the leg work was done by the owner of Beir Market and then me.... Anyway I think then, there wasnt enough active ownership in the neighborhood to pass it.(absentee landlords and such) Plus the concept was pretty new to Cleveland at the time. And now that Sam is an active property owner, it should be easier.

Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
Do we know that it is proposed for Scranton Peninsula? It just says in the flats across from Quicken. Although if it was to be on the back of Tower City it would probably say that. And as of last week the location was undetermined. I agree Scranton wouldnt benefit downtown much if at all.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
^Well as w28th said, there has been interest and at least 2 concrete proposals (1 for a gay bar) that were struck down by the neighborhood.... They are definately "particular" about what kind of business they will support going in there, since they have a pretty bad taste in their mouths due to how MODA ended up.

NY Times hearts Cleveland... again
Yea I know.... I guess to give it some context... and since many people seem to refer to Cleveland in this way (this is often what poeple associate with Cleveland even if they really know nothing about the city). Cleveland, a city that has risen from the ashes..... :|

Cleveland/Northeast Ohio - Where are some good Salsa dance clubs?
I see what your saying. In DC it isnt really something the police would do anything about (I tried that before, it was kinda like "you arent from around here are ya"). There are literally hundreds of thousands of illegals from these areas here. I think DC police have bigger fish to fry, plus they overwhelming supply the service and labor sector here.

Wow, how flattering. Does anybody know if these reviews are the result of when the Convention and Visitors Bureau hosted (wined and dined) the travel writers?

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Ill trust McCleveland about this one and it will be nice to have something in that space again.... I have to say I cringed a little bit when I saw again "sports bar..." I guess if thats what will work there (and why wouldnt it being so close to Gateway) From this weeks Scene: Bites: R.J. Boland's Opening And more local food news by Douglas Trattner ...."If all goes as planned, the new tenant will be up and running by late October. Described by its owner as a high-energy American saloon, R.J. Boland's will combine a sports-bar design with upscale pub grub. Partner and executive chef Doug Fulton, opening chef of McCormick & Schmick's, says guests can expect familiar but high-quality food dished up in a casual environment. Minor cosmetic changes will be made to the space, including dark-wood accents and the addition of numerous flat-screen TVs. http://www.clevescene.com/cleveland/bites-rj-bolands-opening/Content?oid=1632718 It also references BlackFin, which they still say is (still) destined for Cleveland...

Just curious, but why do you think this is MTS, prejudous, mean spirited...? When the hispanics give me any problems in DC (like when they are throwing beer bottles on the ground (while leaning on a trash can) passed out on my stoop (and I cant get passed them), pissing and crapping in public etc)) I just mention INS or policia and they disappear. (granted these ones are from places like El Salvador, Honduras and Guatamala and are almost always illegal)

Cleveland: Controlling Neighborhood Nuisances
That's certainly unfortunate. This is an area that can certainly can appear that way simply due to the fact that sometimes there are not other types of people around to offset that feeling/perception (kindof like public square). Hopefully when the street figures out what works and the neighborhood hero's succeed with their plans it will not seem so overwhelmingly this way... (there will be more other types of activities and people to off set this), also as some of the social service agencies in the immediate area relocate to other areas this may dilute this a bit (I believe some are relocating).

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
Not everybody knew what was going on. I know I was away for the weekend and next thing I knew when I was back there were these red boxes everywhere, by the time I found the explanation for and directions it was already to late to contribute. I'm sure that was the case for more than a couple of people. Apologize for your troubles.

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
I wanted to add that I was in with friends again over Labor day weekend as well and it is a treat to have the airshow going on the whole weekend. We actually went to it on Sunday (somebody gave us tickets) and it was great. Lots of activity on the waterfront around the Rock Hall and Science Center. My guests were again impressed with the Cleve. One of the highlights for me (a plug) was seeing Hedwig and the Angry Inch at the HighFi Club. It would typically be at Cleveland Public but not this time. Anyway the performance was outstanding (certainly a glam rock spectacle)!!! and the small concert club venue only magnified that... It plays till October 3rd and is mostly the original cast from the Cleveland Public days... (local talent) Certainly one of the best productions of anything I have ever seen! I may come back to see it again. http://hedwigcleveland.com/ Oh and LAlbatros was great... Be sure to get the cheese service... comes with a lovely presentation from the Fromagier.. Awesome weekend!

Not sure I understood the 'Rio-Comment' afterwards... It said it was in reference to the previous blog, which I couldnt find, then I decided I didnt want to.

Cleveland: Downtown Aquarium
Well then Id think that would have been the perfect opportunity to ask Frank what the deal was with his offer for the Jacobs one as opposed to the other that as you said may be a better one.
-
Cleveland: Downtown Aquarium
When did the Jacobs project grow from 55,000 sq ft to 123,000? and for the same price tag??? Hmm now rivaling the size of the one proposed by the aquarium group. I think Frank should be explaining why he supports this one as oppposed to the other one... "Paul Ertel, general manager for Jacobs' Nautica Entertainment Complex, said that with the city's assistance, a 123,000-square-foot aquarium complex could open in the Powerhouse in the Flats next summer. The project cost is estimated at $9 million."

CLEVELAND - the Westshore 'burbs (Westlake, Bay Village, Rocky River, Lakewood)
Mayday, knowing I gave that exact tour myself over the weekend (as usual we must have crossed paths). Edgewater to Clifton Park to Rocky River and down to Huntington Beach. I even pointed out "MY" favorite Christmans tree house, the charming yellow house and even the duo, which if you can confirm, one was where Tom Wilson lived. We actually looked at the house that was for sale next to this. Nice photos!

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
Tedders they were strictly an ice cream store with no intention of being a distributor (along with dozens of others). They were eventually acquired by Royal who was a store/maker/distributor. Yes at some point they should have all the "Cleveland" brands somewhere downtown, to showcaseall the good stuff that is made there.

Cleveland: 2009 Mayoral Election
I agree with Clvlndr. Frank certainly has some good qualities, but just not what Cleveland really needs right now. They need a rainmaker. The "It is what it is" attitude will only allow for the whole world to pass you by. Its amazing what an outspoken and persuasive person can accomplish (even in regard to Eton and J.F. (even though I don't directly blame Frank for these, being a better and persuasive speaker certainly couldn't have hurt any...)) What happened to 327, and why isn't he running?

Just curious, were there any/many veggy options there? I have it on my list for the next visit, but I will likely have my vegetarian friend with me.

Northeast Ohio: Regionalism News & Discussion
I dont know that in this day and age that there are any cities (city or suburb) that do not offer at least a standardized incentive package. If they didnt they would lose out to other regions, first and foremost.

Cleveland: Cleveland Museum of Art Expansion / Renovation
Just remember "Mr. Viñoly's master plan is designed to display great work, not overwhelm it". They were not interested in making a strong statement with the building, more-so just producing a great space to view a great art collection.
