  1. Maybe it’s time to start writing [whoever] at the county that’s it’s time to pull back on the land option for these guys. Just pure crap from them consistently at this point.
  2. Booooooo (yay for a vacant storefront being filled though)
  3. 1. Located next to a school 2. Located next to Cudell Park and Rec Center 3. dangerous intersection with reckless driving 4. Gas stations increase crime 5. Within 100 feet of residential on three sides 6. 5 minute walk to an RTA redline station 7. Gas stations are horrible for the environment and end up as brownfields. 8. There’s 5 other gas stations within a mile and all of them are closer to the highway, so this wouldn’t even be a convenient stop 9. The councilperson is trying to overturn a legal governing board and nullify the entire point of why zoning exists by rezoning this property 10. Look up who the consultant is. Samir Muhammad.
  4. Doesn't sound like it's approved yet. It was just submitted.
  5. Gotta leave this space open as a green space of some sort in my personal opinion. It feels like a total refuge coming off the metroparks path.
  6. Those are surely not related to this specific fire. This place is a fire waiting to happen. There’s hundreds if not thousands of dumped tires inside. It’s a popular exploration spot. It’s wide open and left to the elements. I’d like to see the city use some of that funding they got to buy these old brownfield sites to purchase and raze this one. Would hate to live across from this as a new resident of the Warner and Swasey on Carnegie.
  7. It’s not even a big enough lot to truly expand. It’s a residential and commercial neighborhood. Mind the fact that GLBC has never actually made an offer on the property that anybody is aware of. Hotel/Residential is highest and best use.
  8. Doesn’t seem short sighted at all. There’s a ton of vacant land in the city for GLBC to build a modern production facility. It will be much better with close highway access and room to grow horizontally. You’re talking about the most in-demand neighborhood in the CITY. It would be short sighted to expand a factory in the heart of the neighborhood when residential/hotel is possible.
  9. Gahhh all these multi million dollar public works projects that are increasing my property value ten fold and attracting more people to my bar! Damn them!
  10. Wasn’t there a plan years ago to turn train into a trail and close it to cars? Seems like that would solve a lot of the issues (they repave it every three years and it ends up looking terrible again, might have something to do with the way water infiltrates it off the hillside?) and be a good connection. I was always told Train Ave is where they go to dump the bodies. Let MP take it over and I bet it’ll improve.
  11. Has anybody actually proven the repeated talking point that a “dome is not buildable on a landfill”?
  12. It needs more pedestrians… just not space for those pedestrians?
  13. The more time I spend in this area of the city, the more I hope the city and GLBC can work out a land swap deal and have GLBC locate on some vacant land in an industrial area (maybe Opp Corridor?). I really feel strongly that having that greenspace there next to the trail is a great natural habitat and could be restored to attract wildlife back to the area. It's just so peaceful when you bike by on it, and it gives a great view of the river and downtown. With the future of this area being much more residential/park focused, the industrial building will feel really out of context for Scranton peninsula.

Oh I know… it just seems we’re behind the curve again. Presidential admins aren’t a given and we’re only working on a plan just now (or in the next year, when RTA finally decides who they want to hire)

That’s double the money. In a perfect world we would expand rail. Given the way our rail line is set up (legacy industrial routes) our rail isn’t really set up to expand in a clear way. Most of the lines do not have a high population around them and run along mainly industrial areas… especially when you start looking at expansion. A few rail extensions might make sense (Waterfront Line Loop, and a redline extension out to Euclid) but generally speaking BRT is the way. We can get much more population close to high frequency transit this way.

Step in the right direction, but Cbus just got 42 million to actually build BRT. And here we are once again studying it. Just do the thing!
  17. Are there worse locations? Right in the middle of a walkable riverfront district? Tourists are going to laugh when they see this. This is absolute insanity.
  18. I am shocked and astonished by this move. How is this acceptable???
  19. I didn’t catch that at first. Agreed.
  20. It would be really awesome to see that building on Detroit saved, and a good sign that more investment will spread to that stretch of Detroit which just feels completely barren compared to down the street. Personally would like to see it turned into some lofts but not complaining if the guy really wants to live there.
  21. I’m unfamiliar with Cle Heights processes— do they have a design review board that can sort this out? I agree, but overall a fan of the layout of the building and its street presence.
  22. OB /BC really is looking like the next hot neighborhood in CLE. Let’s hope these investments come to life. Add in the BRT work RTA is doing and this could be great for bringing back this neighborhood to be a mixed use and walkable place.
  23. Those are really awesome looking. Love the design they went with, really pays homage to the industrial nature of the area. The only unfortunate thing is how bad Carnegie is.
  24. But you’re playing the blame game with the wrong entity. If what the CDC said IS in fact true, then there is no blame on them. Blame the landlord. Whoever Harsax is is going to be lucky to get a tenant in there. Karen will be fine, there’s a ton of empty real estate on Lorain and Detroit.
