  2. New roads = growth? More infrastructure to maintain with less funding every year. Cleveland needs to accept that it's a shrinking city and get more efficient with the resources it has. Adding in new roads for anticipated growth (on a project that isn't announced yet) is not a sound logic.
  3. A city that is shrinking but acts like it's expanding is dangerous!
  4. I agree with all of this. Also there needs to be something inviting at the head of the bridge when your walking north to actually attract people down further. Obviously this is only 60 percent but that big gap in the middle surely isn't the right idea. Impossible to forget your on a bridge if you can look right down to the creepy underpass. Fill that in with a building or a park and you might be getting closer to making it feel all connected.
  5. Hey all, does anybody have any updates on the new housing that was supposed to get built across the street on 25th? I heard the new CEO is not big on the idea and has put all major projects on hold -- and even that she was considering converting the park back to a parking lot (genius innovation). Just curious if anybody's heard if the housing is dead in water.
  6. Seven lane boulevard incoming
  7. Lol with the downvotes. Get real, we're the most impoverished city in America, and we would rather spend dollars on major league women's soccer stadiums? Sounds like a bunch of suburbanites controlling city priorities again.
  8. But that would require an efficient use of resources. So, we will build three separate stadiums all on the taxpayer dime.
  9. Thank you. Haven't been down there in a week or so.
  10. Exactly. 1:1 Parking should be heavily discouraged on TOD projects.
  11. Faux historic architecture doesn't work.
  12. Hi, if this is your project or a project your involved in can you please get the construction crew to put up a protected pedestrian walk way on the east side of East 9th st. Forcing people to walk in the street is super unsafe.
  13. Went to an open house there as well! What a neat building, much of it is in pretty solid condition. They're actively looking for tenants for artists/small businesses. Could be a really cool space. Also Brownhoist Cider is really great, they are moving across the street but will keep the basement space for events.
  14. Im really excited for this project. Blending new construction and preservation is a win-win for the neighborhood. OB is on the come up!
  15. This is actually awesome, maybe they should hire you.
  16. Not to mention it's a building built recently in a style that was never in the historic district before. A nice attempt, but faux at best.
  17. Need more than two trails, the more the better!
  18. There was once a plan to close Train Ave to cars and just make it multi-use path. This would solve 90 percent of the issue.
  19. Agreed. Sure, we are not the best market for new builds very clearly. However there is room for push and pull in any new construction build. Just saying "build it" really makes for lackluster projects that don't contribute in a meaningful way to the built environment or life of the city. This building DOES look like a senior housing facility that you'd see in Westlake, with a better ground-floor presence admittedly.
  20. Please stop saying things like this. Design matters. It's not the only thing, but design is such an important component to the feel and attractiveness of a city. Yes, the vacant lot right there isn't pretty to look at either. But GEEZ we can have some standards for design in Cleveland. This is just not it.

  22. Blocking the sidewalk should be a crime.
  23. LOLing at the idea that the first floor of this should be parking. By valuable, I mean it is going to be valuable very soon with all of the development here. Relax, we can be critical and excited for things at the same time. I just think they could find a better location for this particular building and use.
  24. I’d love to be proved wrong, but it seems short sighted for a one story structure like this to take up valuable riverfront space.
