Wait a minute! Don't we want development in Cincinnati? And who's going to develop property? DEVELOPERS! Lets not go back to how this is going to benefit people who have money to invest. Making money is what makes the world go round, how many people are going to volunteer to develop OTR?

I read this in regards to the coastal elite and their disdain for "flyover country" but I think the quote applies here, "People have to begin caring outside their immediate radius of relevance."- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
DanB, can you give us some examples of a successful city where no one financially benefited from it? Thats the whole purpose of the streetcar to encourage investment and investment implies rewards. And how about the 71/75 bridge? That will cost $3 billion and I use it once or twice a year, why is it a no brainer?- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Just so I'm clear, what is the issue here? Reading the article it doesn't sound like either side was hiding what they did or were trying to be underhanded. Everyone is correct from what I can read except one side thinks its wrong and one doesn't, utilities have lots of lawyers on retainer so I'm sure everything adheres to the letter of the law, whether anyone likes it or not is another matter.- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I think what both of you may be missing is I don't think Duke had to negotiate with the city at all, doesn't PUCO usually handle that? PUCO Or can the City over ride a state agency?- Cincinnati: Downtown: The Edge
indefinitely; For a long time, no end defined; Forever ?? I guess once the economy comes around it could take off again.- Cincinnati: Downtown: The Edge
The Edge is done, Condo sales mired in deep trough A banner atop 310 Culvert St. downtown, where a pair of developers had planned the 77-unit Edge condo conversion, now advertises commercial space. “It’s going to be impossible to build a new condo building in 2009 or maybe even 2010,” said Towne Properties Principal Arn Bortz, who hopes to someday add a second tower at Towne’s Riverside Drive site. “The last thing developers want to do is create more inventory. There is so much competition out there.” There are hundreds of available condos downtown, in Mount Adams, Covington and Newport, many of which are priced between $400,000 and $3 million. It’s an inventory that could take years to sell based on the current housing market, growing unemployment rate, rising costs of construction and uncertain economic conditions, he said. That’s what plagued the Edge, where developers Andy Radin and Denis Back had at one time secured 35 contracts and received building permits to begin construction. Two weeks ago, deposits were returned to buyers and the project was indefinitely placed on hold.- Cincinnati: Downtown - Parker Flats
Middle Earth Purchaser, We received a copy of these drawings when we signed a contract and every time they were updated. I've show these drawing to contractors who are going to remodel for us. Our contract specifically said that the plans could change slightly from original and we would have no recourse. We could have declined to sign the contract I guess. What prompted this post?- Cincinnati: Downtown - Parker Flats

I just get tired of people finding new ways to look at Cincinnati in a negative light. We don't exist in a vacuum here, Trump has a half dozen projects on the east coast in trouble right now. If he didn't see it coming I don't think anyone here should be held to a higher standard. And you're right, they did cut costs on Carew, but they did get it built in 13 months because they had all the manpower they needed, and it cost them a whole 13 million. And that included the ice rink in the ballroom. When they remodeled in the 80's and found it under a false floor, they turned it on and it still worked! (I don't know what that has to do with anything, just something that stood out from a recent tour I had there of the hotel.)- Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
You know, this like other things will not last. Everything is in place so when QSCII is finished and the economy comes roaring back, they'll be sitting there all pretty looking like geniuses.- Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
1929, when they built the Carew Tower, another Cincinnati failure I suppose?- Cincinnati: Downtown - Parker Flats
It is, but I won't call the police if you don't.- Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
They built Carew Tower in 13 months for like $26 dollars. So much for progress.- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Yes, a bus system! Ingenious! Why hasn't anyone in Cincinnati thought of that! OH Wait, don't we have a bus system?- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
A sponsor needs to step up on say the Reds Hot Weekends so everyone with a gameday ticket rides the streetcar free that day. Same for Bengals games, Riverfest, Taste, Ocktober fest, etc. - Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
