  1. With the lunacy and ineptness committed for the last 30 years in Detroit, managing the downward spiral of Ford doesn't impress me any.
  2. Why doesn't the Cato Institue have an issue with streets and highways? Same arguement would apply. OH Yeah, I forgot, they're just noisemakers.

  4. 40 U.S. cities looking to embrace streetcars CooltownStudios talking about the romance with streetcars.
  5. Incredible pictures jmecklenborg I got these this morning but they suck after seeing yours.
  6. I'm kinda looking forward to Parker Flats during Bengals season, those are my favorite Sundays downtown, its packed everyone is having fun, partying. otherwise I would just move to Mason and listen to crickets and the occasional minivan
  7. When we tour our unit at Parker Flats we can only hear the loudest trucks rumbling past. Outside is a little noisier, but not as noisy as I thought it would be. We have one of the units closest to the expressway. Plus living downtown, its going to be loud anyhow. We're at the Gramercy and you wouldn't believe the bar noise in the evenings. If you live downtown, moving to the Edge would just be exchanging one noise for another, white noise.
  8. Any idea on when construction will start, this looks like a super exciting project!
  9. Don't know, I like it, its not bad as far as most renderings go.
  10. So where does he think streets and highways come from. Do they shoot out of fairy's asses with sunshine?
  11. From Soapbox Conrad Oppt and Jack Glazer are moving forward with the seven unit McFarland Lofts, a ... loft renovation in the 137 year old former wagon warehouse of Cincinnati Gaslight & Coke (just behind and to the East of AVS Art). According to Oppt, the model at McFarland should be ready in 6 or 7 weeks, and they will custom finish-to-order the units (most of which will range from $195K to $250K) as they are sold.
  12. They were installing HVAC and some funky red vents Thursday.
  13. Remember back in June when well here's your road funding; The Transportation Construction Coalition, a group of industry companies and unions, said that if Congress does not do something about the shortfall, states will lose about one-third of their road and bridge money in the budget year starting Oct. 1. That would put 485,000 more jobs at risk. ...the commission recommended gradually increasing the current federal fuel taxes to 40 cents a gallon. Other ideas that will be on the table when lawmakers write a bill next year including more toll roads and public-private partnerships, congestion pricing ... The streetcar keeps looking better and better from where I sitting.
  14. Yeah, they were winging bricks with abandon, I gave the yellow caution tape a wide berth.
  15. They are working in my unit again! yeah!
  16. A bunch of work happening this morning.
  17. You know with all these home tours going on, people seem to get inflated ideas of what should be in new condo's, remember these aren't $500,000 condos, and try and keep perspective. I'm not discounting any criticisms here but, not everyone has unlimited budgets for upgrades. Also, the condos themselves and the bath's are small, these aren't McMansions in Mason, we don't want or need them to be. sorry I got a little defensive there for a second, carry on.
  18. We hit Parker Flats after the shindigs. i was worried about what the deck dividers would look like, they look much better than what I was imagining. We were standing on our deck for awhile, There was a good breeze blowing through the man door and out the garage door, I think theres going to be a good wind tunnel effect there. But we're on a corner so I'm not sure how the other units will make out.
  19. Anybody interested in Seeing Parker Flats or a number of other properties, theres the Ultimate? Tour of Living this weekend. If you go don't miss Blake and my condo stuffed to the ceiling with supplies. All the orange construction fence is gone from the decks. Looks really good now with the black railing that disappears.
  20. This could be some good streetcar advertising material
  21. Anybody. I'm throwing it out there wondering what it all means.
  22. So what is your take on the Regional Transportation Act. Is the city already thinking about how to best tie in Metro and the streetcar? Or is this discussed in another thread?
  23. thomasbw, that whole story was very positvie and made it sound like its happening. ^crossed fingers^
  24. Really? And were is that at? I'm sure you actually mean the federal transportation bills that are wrestled over for every new budget. Theres no actual source of funding for it, it comes out of one giant pot. And there is no guarantee that the next bill will have money in it for any one specific project.
