  1. UC has GPS on its shuttles so you can see on your UCMobile phone exactly where the bus is in real time. Or you can wait 10 minutes and the shuttle will just show up! crazy.
  2. How cool would this be? http://www.cooltownstudios.com/mt/archives/001290.html "a roving streetcar dance party with music, disco lighting and two bars, bringing new meaning to the term bar hopping." Some of my ideas from back in March; I imagine something like during baseball season the cars are total Reds and anyone with a game day ticket rides free. Taste, the various restaurants sponsor different cars and everyone rides free. Oktoberfest, beer sponsors all over the place and that weekend everyone rides free. Riverfest, the cars are all WEBN and everyone rides, yep free. Buy something in the Q, ride home free. Eat on Fountain square, ride home free. You could go on and on. I don’t think there will be any buy-in from hotels because their business model is designed to try and keep customers from leaving. I also like the idea of a surcharge for parking in the CBD that goes to the streetcar. But with the right marketing and some thinking outside the box, the streetcar will be a huge success.
  3. Isn't fixing potholes the ultimate expression of throwing good money down a hole?
  4. I answered my own question, the streetcar won't cost anymore than 3 miles of new freeway.
  5. Isn't it funny how money spent repairing roads is a no-brainer for everyone. People are worried about what the upkeep on the streetcar will be and no one knows what the true cost of roads are, not even me. How far would a 100 million go putting in a new street and the upkeep for 10 years? Not very far I bet.
  6. See that doesnt look bad at all, don't know why everyones panties are in a bunch.
  7. I like it!
  8. I agree, it should be illegal for birds to poop on Fountain Square! Its not the responsible people who are the problem, I don't want to step in the dog poop of irresponsible people. Somehow I doubt dogs are holding people back from moving downtown, the people who want to be here are here, everyone else finds excuses not to move downtown and thats fine, its not for everyone.
  9. This sucks, I really liked how the slanted roof looked.
  10. From a future resident The garage door looks very tight, I was pleased with how it came out and to be honest, surprised. Actually saw Jay Voss up there when I was there today. Bad news for us, instead of starting on floors 2-3 for drywall, they are going to start in units 00-04 all the way up before moving to the southern part of the building. he said it is because of the penthouse and the roof hole they are unable to work on that side of the building.
  11. Its hard to see, but they have the first sliding door in. We're going to go through again in the next week or so.
  12. Hmm, I'm not sure on the complete halt thing, I walk there at least once a week. They aren't moving fast I'll give you that, but they've been working on the 4th St facade and I can see progress on my unit every time. From what I've heard MED hies small firms that aren't big enough to sue them. Thats consistent with what I've seen, theres never been more than 10 people in there working when I've gone in.
  13. parking at what 20 or 30k a space? explain again why streetcars and public transportation are evil?
  14. Glass is going in. And Parker Flats will be as much about the views as anything. I can't wait to start the weekly sunset parties.
  15. As we stand today, the updated timeline calls for the first units to be conveyed beginning in early May with an overall completion date of July 1st. The reason for the push back in completion is the delayed installation of the windows. It was expected that the windows would arrive in mid December with installation commencing in early January. However, the windows did not arrive until the end of January. Currently, the window manufacturers are on the job site and are busy cutting the thousands of pieces of glass that will comprise the windows. It is a laborious process and has been complicated by the need to correct some mistakes made by the concrete subcontractor. All told, it has cost the project approximately six weeks. Without windows, the lower floors have been brought to a standstill because it is fruitless to hang drywall as, when exposed to the elements, it will mold or crack and show damage within one year of installation. Compromising construction quality for a faster return benefits neither the buyers nor Middle Earth. With all of that said, the window subcontractor is stating that window installation will commence in seven to ten days. The current strategy is to install all windows on the first residential floor. This will give us a better idea of all of the installation issues that we can expect on the other floors. The next step will be based on the results of the first floor. We anticipate that most water is accessing the building through its largest entry point, the west-facing elevation. Assuming that this is the case, windows will be installed along the western elevation of the building and from there we will install the glass for the remaining units while dry walling will commence in the units along the western elevation. Until the roof is fully installed, hanging drywall will be a piecemeal operation. In the meantime, other pieces continue to fall into place. The first floor parking deck that provides cover for the speed ramp accessing the lowest level of buyer parking is constructed and is being poured today. The electric and plumbing subcontractors, along with the framers, continue to lay out the fifth and sixth floor units. The northern staircase is almost complete, providing access from the public parking level to the sixth floor. On the exterior of the building, the masonry work is almost complete along the northern elevation and the northwestern corner of the building. Middle Earth understands the frustration some have expressed over the project’s timeline. We ourselves are frustrated with the delays and apologize to you for those delays. Although we are exploring every possible method to accelerate the project’s schedule, we will not “cut corners” or compromise the building’s quality to shave a few weeks off of the completion date. Sincerely, Jay Voss
  16. I got an answer. About the breaker box, This issue was previously identified by us. Those panels are being moved in all of the '08 units. And the wire, That wire must be for the can light in the shower. The hole it is in is the drain line for the upstairs unit. The electrician must have not wanted a dangling wire.
  17. Anyone out there know anything about code? This wiring runs from my apartment into the middle of the shower, if you can believe that, instead of the wall and into the apartment upstairs. This breaker box is facing into the living room, it could be turned around and face into a closet where no one will see it. This is disappointing and shows a lack of attention to detail as far as I'm concerned. If this is an example of Middle Earth's workmanship, we're in big trouble.
  18. Cincy Film Maker has just left a comment on my blog saying Their blogger profile listed this as their website, http://www.take1studio.net/index2.php?ver=v1
  19. I hope you aren't talking about the empty mall, because we have Newport on the Levee covered with Tower Place.
  20. How did you sneak into the Shillito? The atrium is a cool space isn't it. The Scripps is probably my favorite building in Cincinnati.
  21. Thats the Tallest in Japan? Whats it's name? I didn't like the tiara at first but once I started seeing the photoshoped pictures of it downtown I really like it now.
  22. They put the chains up at 5m and on the weekends. Never stopped Ms. 5chw4r7z and I from making ourselves at home. We usually sit farther out, out of donut range of the renta cops. LOL, maybe they don't even care.
  23. I've created a flickr group for Parker Flats, if anyone wants to share pcitures I've left it open to everyone. http://www.flickr.com/groups/parkerflats
  24. The criminals need rail, because it would never occur to them to drive a car to a holdup. All the most famous bank robbers used trolleys and buses such as...a.....a.....let me think.............. If the evening news is correct, the criminals don't need help commiting crimes, look at Anderson, they've had more than their share of armed muggings, robberies etc.
