what it really needs is a catchy name and slogan such as the Cincinnati Urban Networked Transit. Ok now everyone ride the C.U.N.T. :yap: LOL

http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080105/EDIT0202/801050337/1022/LETT I guess Thomas forgets that the monorail would need the support of the whole county and that aintgonnahappen.com Man living downtown, its easy to fall into a trap that everyone feels the same way, but I'm starting to worry about whether this issue would pass a vote city wide. Is it something that will be voted on or is it a decision for city leaders.

maybe you should avoid Dayton, not public transportation. :yap: But yeah, that would swear me off it, luckily the worst I've ever experienced is sitting near people with poor hygiene

Thanks, the wife and I keep talking about hitting Twist, now that the holidays are over we may have time to stop and check it out.- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Hey if its about safety, there was a traffic light north of Youngstown that had many accidents, they installed an additional light that flashed yellow a couple seconds before the traffic light turned yellow. It wasn't as dumb or redundant as it sounds here, but it gave you a heads up that its was getting ready. In the city I watch the crosswalk signs, if they're flashing, I prepare to stop no matter what the traffic light is. BUT, if city councill acknowledges its for the money, damn the accidents and I'll be OK with it.- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
OK another point Bronson missed is this, if I ride the streetcar and sell my car, I hardly drive it now, thats $400 a month in gas/parking/insurance/upkeep that is now in my pocket. Am I going to save it? I wish, it will probably get spent going out a few extra times a week or spent at Mica or Park+Vine. So what if a hundred people do this? A thousand? Now you're taking some money lubing downtown. As for the camera lights, as long as everyone is honest and says they're doing it for the money. There are too many studies about safety to argue that camera lights increase it. I guess the streetcars would be built to increase investment, so it could be argued this is at least consistant with that.- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
moonloop, is there a reason you feel that way? I've been riding buses since April and haven't witnessed a single issue. I could only assume the streetcar would be as safe. I've heard that arguement from some poeple that they'd be concerned about riding the streetcar because ^gasp^ there might be people different from them on there.- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Its like any other issue, you can always find someone who while staring at the headlights denies the train is about to run him down.- Cincinnati: General Transit Thread
I guess the state grows money on trees, and his SUV runs on the sun shining out of his ass.- Cincinnati: Downtown - Parker Flats
That must be the double secret schedule that moves every month or so.- Cincinnati: General Transit Thread
^sigh^ Am I speaking for myself when I say we don't want more cars downtown? OK if we add extra lanes to secondary roads how does that help anyone get from the ballpark up to Cadilac or McFaddens or Fountain Square? Once in the car after a baseball game its just as easy to go to Kenwood as Fountain square. Maybe easier. But I'm preaching to the choir here, I know. I just sent a letter, thanks for the link.- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I'm really getting tired of the argument that the streetcar won't bring people downtown. Who cares, lets build it for the people already here. And for the convention people and the people in town for ball games. The people complaining about the streetcar are using all the same arguments they used against rebuilding Fountain Square, and look how far off all their predictions were. As for the Kentucky loop if it gets built, I think it would be a no-brainer to cross the Purple People Bridge to Newport on the Levy. But if Ovation gets built then there would be a good case for the Taylor Southgate Bridge.- Cincinnati: Downtown - Parker Flats
Yeah, overlooking PBS and unobstructed views to the west. But its their building and project, I just wish they would stop telling people what they want to hear. Transparency is always better, but these guys haven't got the memo. But on the other hand it should increase our home values and I really like how it looks. Who ever lives in the penthouses better like unexpected cigar smoking visits from neighbors! :-D- Cincinnati: Downtown - Parker Flats
What I really like here is how the penthouse units reflect the shape of the convention center a block away.- Cincinnati: Downtown - Parker Flats
As to their amazement that anyone downtown would actually want roof access or what they would want it for I can only imagine they received their information from imtotalyclueless.com. I'm not knocking them for wanting to build what they want and to make a buck, just the way they handled it and boldly lied to everyone about it.- Cincinnati: Downtown - Parker Flats
Thanks, I tried to post this yesterday, but the site seemed to be down. The other future residents seem split on this issue, a couple don't care, a couple are seriously pissed and tired of MED's crap and want out. At first I was mad, but I can't invest the energy into something I have no control over. Once I got over that, I actually like how it looks. The way this was handled shows MED's total lack of a clue, I'm continually amazed they can find their asses with either or both hands. They need to hire a PR firm to handle this stuff for them, but as they showed in the past they really don't care what we think. Nuff said.- Cincinnati: Would West 5th/4th Make a Good Entertainment District?
I keep telling people to enjoy Cincinnati right now and live in the moment. We're on the verge of getting what everyone has been wishing for.- Cincinnati: Would West 5th/4th Make a Good Entertainment District?
Its exciting and all this is going on down there, but I'd like to see something built we can go to on a daily basis. A nice coffee/pastry shop for one. Not everyone in the 4/5th area is a ballplayer who can go to Bang two nights a week. Boss Cox doesn't sound like something that will be affordable for regular people either, so even if they feel they are, these new places are not going to be regularly attended by the local residents on 4th. But I could be wrong.- Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
It would be a nightmare to manage probably but I would like to see a half dozen architects chosen with no one firm allowed to design to neighboring buildings. I think this would eliminate any "lifestyle center" feel to the place. Totally impractical to accomplish though, I would think.- Cincinnati: Downtown - Parker Flats
They've poured the roof by now I think. The last I heard late March for occupancy. - Cincinnati: Would West 5th/4th Make a Good Entertainment District?
