Recommendations for Visiting Cleveland
We need a few more new high rise hotels. Hopefully what @zbaris87 said back in February in the hotel thread is still in the works: "Both, 5 star hotel with a residence as well. Would also be a game changer for the Cleveland skyline. Will give more info when i'm allowed to speak about it"

Cleveland: Ohio City: Bridgeworks Development
No. The density did change. and that's the whole point and reason behind @Dino's article. If the original project had 200 units over 20 stories covering 20,000 SF on the ground, the density is of units is 1 unit for every 100 SF on on the ground. If the new project has 200 units over 10 stories covering 40,000 SF on the ground, the density of units is 1 unit for every 200 SF on the ground. In other words, the opportunity is lost to due to suburban flat design to build a second 15-20-25 story tower. That land is lost to the squat building.

You're right, land is finite. And every SF has a value. That quote supports the argument for a taller, not squatter, project.

Did all those French restaurants open up yet on the ground floor? Is there a bar/restaurant on the top floor as well?

Cleveland: Ohio City: Bridgeworks Development
Dude--a tall, 10, 12, 20 story building here would be much better than a low-rise sprawling building. And then in a few years another tall bldg could be built next to it. we need more housing units and people, not less. Yes, the new design has the same number of units, but I doubt its being designed to allow 5-6 stories to be built on top of it later. The new proposal is crap compared to the previous two versions.

I agree--they're all really boring and stupid looking. I hope no one in city government gives this any seriousness. I like the current flag.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
BIbb's former roommate that he hired for $120k resigned. Its great that all the pressure fell on the roommate and didn't really seem to touch Bibb himself! Hopefully if he has other friends, family, roommates that he hired, they keep a low profile. https://signalcleveland.org/embattled-cleveland-safety-advisor-phillip-mchugh-resigns-firing-back-at-city-council-and-media/

Yes, this. And the increasing political polarization of society which use and distort the 24/7 news.

Cleveland: Retail News
Great to see more street-front retail on Euclid, though wish it was not at the cost of a new vacancy elsewhere downtown. Ever since local leasing/control of the arcades gave way to an out of town company that only cares about profit over profit and building a cool space, vacancies have been increasing, which shows why local ownership of assets like this is important.

Glenville is very big. The part by UC has seen in investment. But most of Glenville is not walking distance to UC.

Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
As much as cars are bad, the reality is, people like them. In all the hot neighborhoods there should be city parking underground like under a park big, underground parking. charge a nominal fee. But it will support the growth in the neighborhood. We should do this all over the city especially to support growth and development.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
People should lay off Bibb. He's just trying to do the best he can while figuring everything out. He's still learning everything. He hired his college roommate cause he knew him and thought he could do the job and maybe also because the guy needed a job after violating the civil rights of an elderly black couple when he was a cop in DC. Maybe he got fired for that, don't know. Cleveland safety advisor under fire from NAACP was Mayor Bibb's college roommate https://www.news5cleveland.com/news/local-news/investigations/cleveland-defends-decision-to-hire-former-d-c-cop-accused-of-violating-elderly-black-couples-civil-rights

"Downtown Cleveland Inc., said in a news release announcing the award Tuesday that the aim is to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment" Does this mean they're finally going to close Superior Avenue from running through the middle of the square?

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
I went to Melt once and didn't really understand the hype it got. Maybe it was good when it first opened, but I thought it was just "okay" and kindof expensive.
