  1. Its just crazy they dont have balconies or a rooftop common area on this. So many great views from the top. This location is such a slam dunk to build on, I dont get how theyre messing it up this bad. But the only other option is wait another 5+ years
  2. Maybe if Ford wants the building, we can work out another trade as part of a 3-team package working with HSG that involves them paying to demo the old stadium, and the city/county throws in the roadway enhancements needed for the brookpark dome, and Cleveland gets NASA back
  3. I just moved here, so I dont know if people used to say the same thing about the riverfront or not, but I dont know how you can see the amazing investment into multiple riverfront projects in the last few years, and then think the lakefront will just never get developed just because it hasnt been in the past.
  4. Bad day for the "We've never done anything with the lakefront, why should I think this will be any different?" crowd.
  5. More in the ongoing Terrestrial saga. Staying open for now, it seems.
  6. I received this poll, and the initial wording of the ballot measure was definitely confusing enough to make me think it would also apply to public funding for a new Browns stadium, so I initially said Vote Against. The poll then had several scenarios where it asked "If you saw an ad saying ... -insert some statement- ..... would you be more or less likely to vote for it" One of the scenarios including pointing out this only applied to maintaining current venues in the city, not funding building new ones. So I said "Much More Likely to vote for" after that one. Then after all the scenarios, it said given the questions I had been asked, if I would now vote for or against it, and I said "Vote For"
  7. This will be fun to go through all over again in 20 years when the Browns new owner complains how the Brook Park football village is a desolate concrete wasteland hostile to game day activities because theres no active retail or decent public access, and wants city funds to build a new stadium in the city or else he's leaving
  8. I would love for them to build some kind of food truck park and vendor pop-up area. Places where food trucks and local businesses can set up just for the day on gamedays and sell goods, instead of renting an entire storefront hoping for customers to randomly show up when there isnt a game.
  9. I think this looks great. Give the Haslams a $1/yr 30yr lease on the surrounding land to build the surrounding buildings with retail, parking garages, office, and condos or something to get it done. I dunno. This just seems like a MUCH better scenario for the city, county, and team.
  10. So, as a Cleveland noob I havent been to blossom yet. I won some lawn tickets to A Perfect Circle, Primus, and Puscifer on Record Store Day. How does lawn seating work? Is the view and sound quality ok? Is the traffic leaving really bad? Just looking for some input from people who have actually been there instead of relying on FAQs.
  11. Original plans made it look like Franklin Blvd's entrance from W25th through Irishtown Bend was going to be moved to actually intersect with Franklin through Ohio City. It's a small thing, but I'm looking forward to it. Hope that part is still happening.
  12. Its hilarious they're even using "drive times" as any kind of selling point considering the lakefront location (if renovated or rebuilt to have a roof) is literally a matter of minutes difference.
  13. You need a dude bro district, that way they dont show up everywhere else.
  14. Cain Park is putting together a great concert series of shows for the first full summer of legalized weed
  15. Mosaic Brewing, with one of the brewers from Bookhouse starting his own brewery https://www.instagram.com/mosaicbrewingcompanytremont/
  16. This park is going to be great. Cant wait to grab a sandwich from one of the like 6 great sandwich places in Ohio City, and just go sit there, watching the river and downtown.
  17. Xinji noodle bar is closing down. We never made it out there after moving here last fall, and now I feel bad about it. I heard they were really good. Their ramen broth always sounded a little more unique and interesting compared to some of the other places in Asia Town that do more traditional ones.
  18. It's slightly concerning the official company line might be "How dare you use our own words?"
  19. Yeah, but you gotta give them a few minutes, because who knows what companies are gonna bribe Trump for tariff exemptions. We already know how this works. They'll announce "a renewed commitment to manufacturing in America, to make it great again" after quietly funneling a few million to Trump's "re-election campaign", knowing they just have to wait for the mid terms where the potential is high for a Democratic congress to get elected and vote the tariffs out anyways. Then they dont even have to build anything new in America. Just give Donny some money and a headline, and he'll give you anything you want.
  20. Ignoring that Cleveland's odds of hosting a single super bowl, much less multiple, are pretty slim even with a new stadium, if your city is not set up to host 100k+ people for an event already, then you're not making back what you spend on preparation. The ONE thing I will say in favor of it, is that it is a rare opportunity to showcase the entire city to the largest American viewing audience. All eyes are on Cleveland for an entire week. If you have the right type of events and parties and everyone thinks its an amazing time, that does more benefit in the long run. But I absolutely would not spend billions on a new stadium just assuming you're getting a super bowl or two. Another point in favor of Burke - look at that marina in the masterplan rendering! Dont rich people love having private, fancy marinas for their yachts? Imagine Shahid Kahn being able to park his yacht right outside the stadium if we get a Super Bowl. Come on, Haslams!
  21. Team Band-Aid + Burke! Fix up the current stadium to last another 5-7 years. I think they said it would be around $250mil for that? 2-3 years to close & prep Burke, and then 3 years to build the new stadium and Phase 1 amenities. During this time, riverfront development should be concluded most places (Maybe some Phase 2 Bedrock could be going?) opening up developers to move to the new empty lakefront spot where the old stadium was, which will already have the improved land bridge and ground level shoreway. All the puzzle pieces fit for this to work out really well for the city. Every piece but the Haslams. (And I agree with Jason Kelce - if it must have a roof for large events, make it retractable for the football games. Also, regarding another point Jason made, the Burke spot would let them build the outdoor movable grass field like Vegas and others have)
  22. Tons of great sandwich places in Ohio City / Gordon Square, but many close before my normal dinner time, or on Sundays when I dont feel like cooking. This one said they plan to be open 7 days a week, for lunch and dinner. Looking forward to it!
  23. Its not too late for them to backtrack, and put their full weight behind the bandaid + Burke plan. People have short memories when good things happen. Tom Benson tried to move the Saints to San Antonio after Hurricane Katrina, and people view him favorably down there because in his last few years he focused more on Legacy, building a huge cancer research & treatment center, buying the Pelicans to prevent them from moving, buying a local news station, and even paid to renovate the stadium at the Hall of Fame (probably something the Haslams shouldve done), along with tons of other positive community investments.
  24. I know I shouldnt be, but I'm still surprised that billionaires in their 70s are more focused on parking revenue that they might get to see a few years of, instead of cementing a legacy in Cleveland History as the developers of THE lakefront that multiple generations of people would be utilizing.
