In other OTE news, part of me always wanted this building next to Awol bar to be demolished for redevelopment but it's currently being rehabbed into new apartments. It's now painted a dark grey. Maybe with it being a little older, rent will be a bit lower than market rate which would be a huge plus for the area!

Yes, unfortunately it will be going away and the feeder street will be built. So annoying the state is spending millions on this nonsense when it could be going to light rail/streetcar. ODOT might have made some changes but here's the final look.

This is in an area surrounded by hundreds of apartments. There should be no reason this building shouldn't have at least one retail space incorporated in the design.

This reminds me of the large hotel connecting to the Denver international Airport. I wonder if they plan on leaving room for a connecting hotel to our new airport?

It doesn't seem to going in the right direction of what was presented and approved. Honestly, the developer should be held accountable. I'm holding out until the finished project but unless they start adding better quality materials, the final project will look pretty cheaply done.

This one surprised me! I was thinking all along this building was going to be torn down to make way for the connector street along I-71 parallel to Paraons Ave. Looks like renovation has started with 4 retail spaces available.

Not much update on the Diehl-Whittaker building but here's a few shots from I-71 and the back view. I love how prominent it is from the interstate!

Any news on what hotel brand will be over the hotel? I would love to see something like a Shinola Hotel. Now let's start a new convention center hotel, Ritz, W, Four Seasons ;)

Horrible picture with the glare from the sun " I tried to edit it". I need to get a pic in the late afternoon. This was taken from the Russell Street garage in Short North today. I'll get better pics later today. Second pic was from Saturday, Seems like first of the three tiers of the building has topped out along with the elevator shaft of the second tier. Now work will focus on floors for the tallest part of the tower. I can't believe the expected completion date for this is at the end of this year!

The old liquor store south of this was supposed to be torn down with a new three story building replacing it several years ago but that never happened.

I've always loved this building even though it's simple. Looks like from street view the building has a large "X" which means condemned..unfortunately I think you're right, afraid it might n get torn down.

Compared to other cities, it seems like it. If you drive down interstate 71 through the Kenwood/Norwood area of Cincinnati the apartment buildings/hotels literally almost hang over the highway.

Any time frame on when this building will start? It will probably take at least 2 years to complete.

Starbucks tried maybe 10 years ago at the south end of the Short North but eventually closed. Only time will tell.

It is pretty weird how the retail steps back from the street.

The newly built Tompkins Studios is a nice addition. Build a few more of these on the sites of Rallys, O'Reilly's, and Taco Bell with a couple five to six story buildings and Old North columbus would come alive!
