Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
I wish something 25+ would go on the triangular grass lot at High and Nationwide.

sono4315 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionUnless the School Employees Retirement System owns the right away of this back alley, I don't see why they can't change the entrance/ exit to the garage to the alley between the new building and the parking garage and keep it off Grant Ave. Also add at least one retail space on the corner of Grant & Gay Streets even it's 800 sq ft. Something to incorporate the building with pedestrians.

Columbus: Downtown: Capitol Square Renaissance (Edwards Cos.)
Look at the 4 story beauty just to the right (north) of the Deshler hotel. Reminds me of the Yukon building in the Short North. Sadly that building was lost to become a surface lot 😕

Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
I wonder if it's because the Sherwin Williams building is all office floors which are usually a few feet taller than residential floors. Half of The Merchant Building will have residential height ceilings.

State Street. I wonder if they plan on selling the property for redevelopment?

sono4315 replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWonder if the land they purchased on South High is this location where the old one room school house sits. This little building has really stood the test of time.

Columbus: Downtown: The Madison / 100 North High
I've always envisioned a 30+story building with grocery on the first floor in that giant parking lot. Maybe one day!

Columbus: Downtown: Discovery District / Warehouse District / CSCC / CCAD Developments and News
sono4315 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionHonestly, the new developments in the city have become a complete disaster. I get prices for material are high and we need housing but you're exactly right about the material. You see dryer vents all over the sides of buildings along with drain spouts every 8 feet along the front of new builds from the top floor all the way to b the ground which looks horrible!

Columbus: Weinland Park Developments and News
Agreed! Think about if the new builds in the Short North had no retail or had the garage fronting High Street.

Columbus: Downtown: Grant Hospital Redevelopments
Not much to say about this one, other than it should not have been approved. Very suburban that is lacking in design/height.

Columbus: Downtown: Capitol Square Renaissance (Edwards Cos.)
Maybe they should add a green wall or a large mural to the eastside of the building so it's not just a large black wall.

Columbus: Downtown: Discovery District / Warehouse District / CSCC / CCAD Developments and News
sono4315 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThis is completely unacceptable to not incorporate at least one small retail space in this project. We can do better than this for our downtown! Sorry for the scribbles on the map but, in this entire section on Grant, I believe there are only two retail spaces. Subway being one, and the other being a hair salon. With a total of 3 new developments along Grant the city should at least push for the developers to add retail space. It just seems like a dead zone when you walk this area. 10 years from now, this area of downtown could have thousands of new residents. (Red square is the new development) two purple squares are retail spaces. Last photo shows new development In red with the Verve (recently completed) with all garage parking at street level (no retail).

Columbus: Downtown Developments and News
Two of these new galleries will be leaving the Short North for downtown. That leaves very few art galleries left in the neighborhood. Brandt Galleries being one of them located at High & Russell. I live across the street and this building caught fire during the Ohio State/ Michigan game. I believe all the residents had to evacuate and are still not back in the building. Anyone know what's going on with this?

Columbus: Parsons Avenue Corridor Developments and News
sono4315 replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWouldn't a new developer have to do a lot of underground work to remove the gas tanks from the site? I feel like that's a pretty difficult task.
