Brook Park: New Cleveland Browns Stadium
In recognition (reluctant) of the horse-trading phase described above between Haslams/DeWine and Bibb (watching Ronayne wild card) - A modest gift to bulldoze the current 31 acres is not equal to multiple Brinks trucks of public money requested for the 176 BP acres. The baseline should be $ to repurpose the current 31 acres plus + a sincere Haslam Family Foundation contribution to wider Lakefront development which Dee publicly championed before their sudden U-turn to Brook Park (Burke and neighboring CHEERS, etc.,). Just cut and paste what the Bills founder gave to Buffalo’s Lake Erie parks (and Detroit) and call it a day and move to BP: “In celebration of his birth and legacy, The Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation announced it is donating $200 million toward investment in parks and trails in western New York and southeast Michigan — $100 million for each region.” DeWine can help negotiate this and also add further State $ to revive forgotten and resource-poor Cleveland but always rich in legitmate needs (and work on Vivek and JD on Burke).

Cleveland: Population Trends
Let's hope Cuyahoga continues the 2023 modest growth (and the region) each year until the 2030 decennial census. It won't take a away from C-bus and region expected growth numbers but we need a new headline other than - Population Decline Continues.

...any public dollars need to have claw-back provisions linked to employment and job creation targets and timelines. Nah, I only inteneded to reply to the new subject you introduced about clawbacks and employment targets. Anyway, message received. It was a wild week of new news as KJP stated and we may not be succinct as the pros or many industry insiders here. btw...one important comment to add to our new shorter reply format 😂 We heard KJP the other night on 1100 radio on the Haslam/DeWine subject and we were impressed how well KJP does in that medium and format! Clear voice and calmly responded with interesting details (news!) to each question from the host. We really hope this leads to other live show opportunites about Clevelenad development for KJP's much needed voice in this market. We first stumbled on KJP and NEOTrans who hooked us with unique columns and rare passion for all things Cleveland. KJP unexpectedly reignited our passion after a lifetime away from this beloved and quirky city and we hope KJP can continue to expand their reach to the general population beyond the small circle here if Cleveland is to excel.

Sounds good on paper but is only table scraps once the team leaves. The same people now on their 2-day "facting finding" and "listening tour" all part of "following the process" process leading to a laughably unbiased decision will still be beholden to the grifter class and will have moved on from this issue if 20 years from now it is raised in a blog post. At least in 1996 when Mayor White misplayed a winning hand with the NFL, he at least came away with a team in 3 years if we met all of the NFL's list of conditions (they really thought we woudn't follow thru but thanks to the Lerner family for righting a wrong that fateful day on the BWI tarmac we did). Clawbacks and targets do not get us a team in 3 years only more disinvestment downtown and even less money in Cleveland coffers for its critical social safety net.

True the may win and get all that they want and more but nd why make it easy and let them treat us like a doormat as when the French watched the Nazis steam rolled into Paris unscathed. The Haslams and DeWine are shining us on with the new bs about a listening tour or fact-finding multi-day visit to Cleveland and now deWine introducing the new theme - it's a "process" - that he must folliow when the local media surprisingly pressed him a little for his position after all of this time while now pretending he just woke from a 20 year coma to now act as to be an unbiased observer when he is in fact an active participant in the ruse and grifting.

I am sure it will look good but we just wish they could use more concrete and steel - looks like they whole thing would go up in an hour in a fire. It happened last year in Willoughby to a similar new building about to be occupied. https://www.wkyc.com/article/news/local/lake-county/willoughby-fire-mentor-avenue/95-e9192ff1-93ed-4cbd-bf1c-a916a4607542

They - meaning the Haslams and DeWine and their Statehouse polticos who probably have all on speed dial to whip votes in a minute (such as assistance again by Alex Fischer who is close to all Haslams since Knoxville days and then again with the Crew MSL and Browns Training Camp to C-Bus issues while head of Columbus Partneship and on OSU Board with the powerful Wexners) - know they need to rush this now as they will not get a penny from the Trump world with DOGE on deck. While Jimmy and Dee did cut checks to Vance for his Senate race they do not seem to be MAGA at all but firmly in the Bush/Cheney/McConnell orbit. We read they were #1 among NFL owners in political donations - mostly to RNC swamp creatures - so they seem to misread the tea leaves (again - pattern?) by not backing up their bets with MAGA and DNC donations.

I know they need pavement for school buses and whatnot but some tourists may think they’re pulling into the Universal Studios tour of the Psycho house set not a children’s museum

Let’s hope Governor DeWine ‘s “fact-checking” includes other sources such as UO and not just FACTCHECK.RNC and what Jimmy and Dee tell him over breakfast at their Bratenahl estate during his 2 day visit to Cleveland.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Bridgeworks Development
At least it fills a void and other positive it nods (copies) parts of the facades of both the historic Forest City Bank building across the street and the beautiful Western Reserve building bookended on the bridge at the corner of West 9th.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Good idea and we can repurpose the design drawings from Bridgeworks to save money- plus it will blend with the neighborhood. Lakeview Bridgeworks Annex. Only half kidding as it could work.

Brook Park: New Cleveland Browns Stadium
Lots of questions. We thought it was a Haslam purchase of the land now we hear lease being thrown in? If there is a purchase or lease of the 176 acres? will it be bifurcated between the stadium and surrounding development? reading the Sports Illustrated story on the lastest PR release we found this in that the two are considered separate …Unlike the stadium itself, which the Haslam Sports Group is seeking a 50-50 split of public and private money to fund, the development around the stadium that Lincoln will handle is expected to be funded privately… Separating them obviously makes it easier to walk away from this and Berea at some point as the surrounding developments are nothing unusual in most markets and could survive to some extent and be traded among real estate investors over and over.

True but hold them to their stated Integrity value to act above reproach and openly . But their mission/vision/values reads as an insular group to first benefit themselves. ..Our ALL IN Values Our “All-In” values define the spirit of our organization and serve as a commitment to our members, partners and community. We notice community is mentioned last in importance https://greatercle.com/our-purpose/

More good news we can’t take it! Please be skyline changing too! It seems we’ll need them based on the 24/7 Haslam PR machine for all the global jet-set travelers, and hoi polloi too, aLL expected to make the pilgrimage to Brook Park. As someone mentioned the other day we hope for monthlong residencies by Taylor Swift and why not Cher and Britney Spears. I am sure they will enjoy the ride and views via shuttle bus from their luxury downtown hotel to Brook Park. After all we’ve seen how visitors already love the scary non-scenic shuttle bus ride from our well regarded airport to the offsite rental car building (heavy sarc).

Exactly. Plus she is also on the board of the Columbus Partnership. Impressive group! We all remember the prior president of the Columbus Partnership Alex Fischer (BFFs with Haslams since Knoxville) who lobbied the Statehouse for money to move the Browns training camp to C-bus - with approval of Jimmy and Dee- but they all misjudged the blowback. Do you think they have forgot? I really don’t blame them much for wanting to be in C-bus given the pro-development mindset of the Columbus Partnership and the entire region for that matter- but there is something called integrity and honesty that we need to hold them to account for in Cleveland.

Brook Park: New Cleveland Browns Stadium
Haslams ride dirty. They preempt the City/County presentation and hijack an expected vote, then Queen Dee gets a second bite at the apple in January? I hope Bibb, Ronayne, Huang and others return the favor on that day and ask for a rebuttal meeting based on any new information or inconsistencies in their annoying PR blitzkrieg. We haven’t fully digested KJPs breaking news but we find it odd how anything to do with the lakefront is a flat no including not increasing their contribution above $1.2 billion- aren’t they going to do that anyway at BP? Why can’t that mysterious pool of money also apply downtown and…by the way, any stadium in any location is going to need upgrades just years just look around especially Jimmy’s idol Jerry Jones - who somehow got all NFL owners to upgrade his newer stadium for the World Cup for $350 million. NFL where is your contribution to the historic Cleveland franchise and long-suffering community or is that waiting behind curtain #1 until Jimmy’s political shakedown dance of the seven veils is complete.

We hope so as we never heard of him before the hyperlink above. He’s no Mayor Coyne (in his prime who always played hardball with Cleveland over the airport needs). Coming off uncertain in this teevee interview, while not ideal in a leader, is understandable as both sides have him by the short hairs.

Who is this mayor - does not come off well in this story. No wonder Jimmy loves BP. The Mayor shared that safety will be at the top of the list when building this massive complex. “The Cleveland Browns will still have that obligation to the stadium, the parking lot area. What we call inside the curb. Then, Brook Park will have our obligation with traffic control,” says Mayor Orcutt.

Looks better that the Marriott Courtyard. We'll take it plus with branded apartments should help it survive. Seems to be a pretty well-developed mid-to-upper niche brand already world-wide so should have a built in customer base for travelers.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
CSU to qualify via its new the landlord (EADC)? "...the money for Rhodes Tower would not come from the university’s operating budget. He said officials recently made moves to allow it to chase tax incentives and grants to help pay for it. Cleveland State recently transferred ownership of Rhodes Tower to Euclid Avenue Development Corporation. That’s the university’s real estate arm. The corporation, commonly referred to by its acronym, EADC, is now technically the university’s landlord. This, in part, allows the university to be eligible for historic tax credits and other funding...EADC would finance the renovations and use revenue generated by the building to pay off the debt.
