Great examples! Plus we can’t miss this chance to develop that land. I never thought it would happen given first impression that it is inaccessible (expected more Post Office parking or another prison as we have down there now). The timing seems right.

Yes let’s call BS on the mouthpiece. Are we to believe Jimmy completed engineering and cost estimates in less than 1 month since Bibb offered Burke? This just proves Jimmy has had their end game decided long ago at the starting line and all since then has been a slow Kabuki theatre production. If the NFL can build SoFi surrounded by fault lines with earthquake resistant engineering it could be done on the lakefront here contrary to the repeated excuse about the fill stability underneath that they expect to be accepted as gospel. https://www.hksinc.com/our-news/articles/seven-surprising-things-about-sofi-stadiums-design/ interesting the SoFi roof hovers above and around the stadium not touching it via 37 earthquake-resistant columns. Now do similar to our existing stadium or new next door at Burke. Show us the engineering and cost studies especially the one allegedly just done on Burke in a matter of weeks. Prove the mouthpiece’s estimate of $3billion wasn’t just pulled out of their hoo-ha as they pull another fast one on the Cleveland rubes.

Wonder if the Lerner families are also PO’d for selling to Jimmy. Maybe they should speak out. They cleaned up the Modell mess after facilitating the B’more move and maybe they can help again since they dropped HSG on our long-suffering city.

Been waiting for one, where can we get ours? Can they add eff hsg on the back?

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
Jeff Epstein says the Cav/Clinic project is 18-24 months from completion and they continue to work with Bedrock on other phases and hope for more ground breakings before it opens? Very optimistic timeline?

Yes I thought the planned new Eagle Avenue bridge from Ontario to be constructed and appears to empty near the new Cavs/Clinic Phase 1A would allow reasonable access south the new soccer village (if the few roads between the two developments are activated). Not sure if the bridge has wide pedestrian lanes planned but hopefully that is being discussed or will be brought up during planning meetings. I saw this image in an earlier KJP story and it gives the impression the new bridge could provide access points southward - not just to toward Tower City..

Can you give us a hint of details behind the paywall?

DeWine huddling with Jimmy on the field? That explains some of the booing.

Looks better. Do we know if the top treatment is still in play or was it killed by value-engineering?

RTA may need to help by adding an Erieview line from the 38th to 40th fllor for tourists and smokers. I think maybe like the Stratosphere in Vegas?

Interesting that Erieview suddenly is back in news again so soon after the Project Scarlett (Medical Mutual) and their unique apartment/boutique hotel concept went public. Hope they both make it and the W Phase 2 is seen in our lifetimes.

Since we don’t think Jimmy has pulled the trigger on the BP purchase option yet…maybe he is waiting for a higher public contribution to stay and forgo BP. DC just avoided their NBA and NHL teams moving across the river to VA even after the VA move was formally announced and seemed like a done deal. DC has now agreed to pay the lion share of $515 million vs $285 million from the corporate owner to remodel their DC arena. That lopsided deal may get Jimmy’s attention and a reason to come back to the table for a bigger shakedown attempt. https://wtop.com/dc/2024/10/dc-mayor-proposes-87-5m-purchase-of-capital-one-arena/

Get it done! Roof top bar - sounds plausible. Where else are tourists, smokers and vapers gonna go? Maybe pay homage in some way to Stouffer's Top of the Town. It should be be a hit and nostalgic for most Clevelanders.

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
That's a pretty encouraging stat and display to build on. Now it needs to get out there to the youth and employers. I saw a JobsOhio commercial below during either the baseball games or college football yesterda...Top reason to move to Ohio. It is ok and uses C-Bus locales starting with the opening shot of the Short North and downtown C-bus. Love C-bus but we need to get JobsOhio to do one with the spicier Cleveland flavor.

Yup - can't rule it out. Given Jimmy and Dee's ages I don't think their adult children and the grandchildren have formed any long-term bonds or obligation to northern Ohio. At least Al Lerner acted on an obligation to repent and brought us a new team after the blowback for facilitating the BWI tarmac coup between financially desperate Art and the MD Guv dangling the fat check giving Art instant debt breathing room (as we learned later that $50 million check was not enough). If the scene plays out as you lay out - and hopefully there is a another positve outcome not presented yet that will emerge to save our team - it could be C-Bus or another bigger growing U.S. market or international like Toronto and others often mentioned. The good ole boy NFL will play along like last time - and as with St Louis and Oakland - and fellate us again with promise of a future expansion team and force us to wait like cucks clutching our name, traditions and colors. We have to admit we are in an abusive relationship with HSG and the NFL and say enough is enough.

I guess the other way to activate this area would be an expansion of Flats South Bank. Given that FSB doesn't even exist yet, this I would obviously be a long way off. may not be that far off depending how easy Canal Road extends north to the southern tip of the Clev Clinic/Gilbert-Cavs Phase 1A now under construciton. Has anyone explored that area in person? If connected ot connectable, and if the soccer stadium picks up steam that combined area may become hyper-activated a lot sooner. Build it and they will come...

Cleveland: Random Visualizations & Massings
Amazing visual of the potential. btw - isn't the Jame Corner Field Operations Group still working on the overall plan. I can't wait to see what they propose with the news of the apparent Brown departure now even more certain. I saw Cleveland extended their contract earlier this year to offer options if the Browns depart (maybe Bibb knew as early as April it was happening and was only awaiting Jimmy's word on Burke as an option).

My bad I knew there was always a billboard but I assumed he put up a new one following my very fast read of what Signal said came out in the hearing: "...The Georges bought the building and billboard for $1.1 million, according to a purchase agreement included in county Board of Revision documents. They also took out a mortgage for the same amount, county records show. They paid $248,200 for the property and $851,800 for the billboard, according to the purchase agreement. County records show the property is now valued at $350,000. An attorney for the Port of Cleveland offered the company $360,000 for the building and land, according to a January 2022 letter included in court exhibits. That offer did not include the cost of the billboard, “as it is the intention to either reinstall the billboard on-site or relocate the board if reinstallation is not feasible,” the port’s letter read." Can't wait for the photos of that corner once bulldozed. sorry for our sidetrack from the thread topic - can we paste it where it belongs?

Jimmy and his HSG crisis response PR team were probably wetting themsleves laughing as they feign taking full responsibilty and then talking about a purposely vague utopian "bright future" through "smart acquisitions and draft picks." Jimmy boy thanks but I'll pass on your bs.

I only offered as a brainstorming idea to eff the Haslam Sport Group given the smart-ass HSG press release. What an insult. In public taking cases each is different so who knows hiow it would play but would obviously take too much time. In the George case they already owned the land and then ran circles aorund the county by then hurriedly taking out a loan and put up the monstrosity billboard (not sure how that got thru) and then the county couldn't admit they got played and would not recognize the value of the billboard and revenue stream and continued to lowball him. This case though is a little interesting as we have not heard yet (have we?) if they completed their option on the property and taken possession. Reading between the lines of the press release Jimmy appears to be running the clock on the option until he is shown the money (local, county and State) that meets his unknown defintion of a private/public partnership: "...We will continue to work in earnest with city, county, and state officials to work together on these transformational opportunities. As we have previously said, we understand this is a complex process with more questions still to be answered and we will continue to communicate openly as our process evolves." Cleveland politics and sports(off field) are never dull.

you may be on to something there...are there any Federal eminent domain options to obtain the property for the greater public good - airport expansion. "Mayor Pete (aka Secretary Pete Buttigieg) - we have a Zoom call for you from Sherrod Brown, Justin Bibb and Chris Ronayne who need your help with an important transportation issue in Cleveland..." https://www.justice.gov/enrd/condemnation/land-acquisition-section/history-federal-use-eminent-domain btw - I still can't understand why the city did not grab th entire parcel when it became available.
