Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
we hope there is some connectivity to the Voss development to residents of this building. Not sure if it is directly behind Voss or diagonal or further south. If so, will they be looking directly at a walled in backside of the Voss project. Do the alleyways mentioned in the Voss plans align in any way with the front entrance of this new building? If adjacent, hopefully the 2 can work together if there are opportunities to improve access from 26th to 25th.

Cleveland: Campus District
It seems it was allowed to deteriorate further beyond the already poor condition when vacated. The OPDOT and NOACA planners probably put dibs on it long ago as it started planning the innerbelt upgrade projects. Looking back it would have been nice to covert to senior or homeless housing, but given the current condition and Innerbelt plans, hopefully the county will continue to focus on developing a social services campus in that area for much needed safety net programming.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
Good news- we hope he means it this time. It is still hard to unhear his definitive sounding statements in January about abandoning Cle and the Cliffs name. Who knows, if he is successful at acquiring all or parts of US Steel later this year, he may walk back his verbal bluster commitment to Pitt all the way - especially if the remotely sited US Steel leadership and HQ staff stay home in their Covid bunkers and don't return to what Lourenco described as an empty ghost HQ office.

East Cleveland News (Non-Development)
So sad. The corruption stories seem to keep coming year after year. I am sure ther are other scams undetected that would not trigger the attention of the Feds as in this case. If the county can't do anything after all this time, then DeWine needs to do another listening tour to EC before he retires. Would be a great if the State would focus on helping the trapped remaininig citizens there vs the white glove treatment given to Jimmy and Dee. Maybe drop an Ohio DOGE-like task force on that city with the State Auditor, BCI, AG, Secretary of State...

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I thought they added new turnstile barriers last year to prevent it. Must not be high enough to stop the Olympic quality hurdlers. Our experience over many years was the station managers rarely came out of the booth or even look up. https://www.metro-magazine.com/10228550/wmata-completes-new-faregates-at-rail-stations

Given the crickets from GCP, wonder if Dee already has verbal reservations from each of her fellow GCP board members after dangling their choice of prime executive party suites and VIP priority parking at the proposed BP stadium and mega parking lot. Team NEO it's up to you to answer Bibb's call for action or dissolve and merge with GCP.

Shaker Heights: Van Aken District Transit Oriented Development
Exactly - crossing from INTRO to WSM can be unsettling especially for tourists or slow walkers. Definitely need a traffic calming cross walk scheme there to start. Would help safety a lot plus we also need more traffic enforcement at such intersections for the youths who seem to feel red lights are optional.

Shaker Heights: Van Aken District Transit Oriented Development
We hope they get creative in the design of the crosswalks other than 2 white stripes. The city and various developers hopefully are working on this for this intersection and for the whole area. They should engage CIA art grad students to create unique placemaking traffic calming cross walks designs. Like these for ideas

Cleveland: Cleveland State University News & Info
Relax, was not meant as name-calling for us senior-seasoned citizens who know of his long career where he even embraced the playful name. Also there was no attack made on the law school so not sure why the detour down that rabbit hole. We were only wondering why the CSU Board didn't recognize his valuable life-long Statehouse rolodex at a time our beloved CSU stares down uncertainty.

Beautiful - now do it on the Lakefront and Riverfront.

Cleveland: Retail News
Also, maybe now that they have entered the market, Dan Gilbert could entice them to help fill the ground floor retail inside Tower City and around it on W Prospect and W Huron. It may be too soon now, but more likely once Bedrock Phase 1A and 1B, and the entire Riverfront infrastructure, are completed or underway (awaiting news on Phase 1B?). It's seems possible given Gilbert's amazing new retail success in Detroit.

Brook Park: New Cleveland Browns Stadium
Veiled threats begin? “I don’t know, if we don’t do Brook Park and we pass on it this time, anybody is ever going to put $2 billion of private money into Cuyahoga County,” Jimmy Haslam said. “We found 175 acres that is flat, has power, which is a big deal, is clean environmentally and is serviced by a major state highway and two interstates – all right across from the airport. … I just don’t think you’re going to find that again.” https://www.cleveland.com/news/2025/02/browns-unveil-financing-plan-for-24b-dome-stadium-in-brook-park.html We think? The time to do this is now,” Jimmy Haslam said. “We have the property, we have the energy, we think we have the financing.” And since when has this been a top 10 problem for Browns fans? Maybe to Jimmy only when you don’t own all of the parking? "Unfortunately, being on the lakefront initially sounds good, but you have all been to our games, it is a hassle to get in and out of there,” Haslam said. “And there’s no real way to fix it.” No way to fix it? Jimmy now pretends to not know about the plans and millions already awarded to revamp the roads and lakefront access. Shame, https://signalcleveland.org/browns-owners-dee-jimmy-haslam-argue-for-brook-park-stadium/

Brook Park: New Cleveland Browns Stadium
Great news on Valentine’s Day Ken! Valentine’s Day thanks to Ronayne and Bibb! Can HSG’s funding schemes get anymore sketchy? The model we’ve proposed on the state level would leverage only the incremental tax revenues from within the (Brook Park) development itself to enable the project,” said Dave Jenkins, HSG’s chief operating officer said in a recent press statement. The funding practice is commonly called “value capture.” It may “enable” construction on the front end but I smell I big taxpayer liability when the projected revenues never materialize. Maybe if they kill the surrounding development and instead surround the dome with park-n-ride airport parking- otherwise as Jimmy would say in Tenn. that dog won’t hunt.

but Ohians need a faster route from Columbi to Waldo for some reason over all else. We wish NOACA had the same pull and results with ODOT and the Statehouse as impressively as MORPC always does.

Wonder why Landslide Lee's skills and polical rolodex are sought by the BW Board to address BW's financial woes but not used by the CSU Trustees for the same while he was on campus.

Brook Park: New Cleveland Browns Stadium
This cartoon picture pretends it is located in a tranquil setting as Blossom and not the actual gritty, dirty and noisy site surrounded by major highways with a parade of non-stop gas and diesel belching vehicles and trucks. Also, where is the acknowledgment of the FAA flight path of landing aircraft in the cartoon pic - not whisper quiet? While all of the accompanying air and noise pollution could be overlooked on game day, what about year round for visitors/ residents to the purported Jimmy world village. The designer featured in the Fox8 puff piece may need design a dome over the entire site in further reference to the Arcade and Rock Hall roofs as he alleged his dome design emulates.
-
Brook Park: New Cleveland Browns Stadium
This designer is slick he touched on all our trigger words: Dawg Pound, SuperBowl, the historic Arcade and Rock Hall. i wish these alleged investigative reporters would have asked about his Lakefront designs. Where are those plans? No curiosity from these two. If this designer wanted the BP dome roof to reference the Arcade and Rock Hall, I am sure the Lakefront design could do the same - in the nearby shadow of both tourist sites. Why feign to emulate them but build it in a dreary distant location. Also, the Dawg Pound location should happen organically by ticket holders not by being shoehorned into a walled in gimmicky cattle ghetto.

Any new news Ken on Westinghouse? We see it still featured on the AODK architecture firm's site. This proposal looks so promising: https://www.aodkinc.com/work/westinghouse-pdgx5-wnm72-gdhkk-24afn-e3lg2-sk6xb-dtp8e-8zck2

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
So much good news in Ken's story such as these nuggets: The city is also considering advancing to Bedrock proceeds of a $1 billion tax-increment financing agreement to move the infrastructure work forward more quickly so development can follow sooner. and Cullen Meves, an associate landscape architect and planner at MKSK, said that infrastructure is a foundational key to development of the riverfront plan. That includes rehabilitation of the riverfront bulkheads, with the first installations now complete. She said they are now working with the city restoring Eagle Avenue to link to the Gateway District and connect Ontario and West 3rd street. So encouraging. We were worried that infrastructure for the entire neighborhood would be done piecemeal by phase leaving room for more future delays. Once all bulkheads and roads are in place, and Phase 1 and 1A are either complete or underway, other partners may jump in to join the neighborhood. Programming the landmark B&O site should be easier once the infrastructure is complete so the connectivity is obvious to developers and the public.
