  1. This may have been posted on here before, but I haven't seen anything about it. Last night on History Detectives, which airs on PBS, they did a segment to find out why Cleveland killed its electric streetcars in the 1950's. As it turns out GM, which was conspiring to buy up all of the rail lines across the country and convert them to busses, to be purchased exclusively from GM of course, got into some shady business with a former Cleveland Mayor. His name was Ray something or other and at the time was a county commissioner, who was also on the city's transportation committee. It was strongly implied that in exchange for a GM dealership in the city he voted to sell off our streetcars to Toronto and replace them with busses. That is of course the short version. It was a pretty interesting 10 or so minute segment. Good stuff.

Well, officially, I am the Office/Distribution manager. But more accurately I play Chinese Checkers on my computer and spend some time on the message boards.

The "Come home to Cleveland" is right on. It really has nothing to do with the job market. Chicago is so damn expensive and overcrowded. For example, it takes me around an hour to commute each way to work and it's only 3-4 miles. I live in a densely packed ghetto all for the low price of $700/month for my 1 room rat's nest and was set upon by violent Puerto Ricans while walking down the street not long ago. Plus, I never get to watch any Browns games here.

I suggested a Cleveland office once as a subterfuge for me to move back without crawling through the local job market and was the subject of harsh rebuke and scathing ridicule. As for why we have multiple offices, we do have local content exclusive to each city. Entertainment, music, and the like.

Work at a The Onion, a newspaper, on the operations side.
  6. I've been a lurker here for awhile. You guys do a good job. What I'm interested in finding out, though, is who wants to find me a job in Cleveland. I am a native Clevelander, but have been living and working in wretchedly overcrowded, horribly expensive Chicago for two years. Escape is a must. I have searched wide and far for a job that will give me an excuse to move back to the Greatest Location in the Nation, to no avail. Perhaps this means there are no gigs in Cleveland or maybe I am an unemployable piece of shit. That question is up for debate. So who wants to find me a job? Any openings you guys know of? Where's a good place to find job openings in Cleveland?
