I think what is being missed here is that Council's only input into the process is if bonds are issued. It is possible for a mayor to work around needing Council's approval to issue bonds by funding projects with cash on hand or collecting the tax receipts for a couple years and then spending the money. If there is enough cash in hand to fund a project, the mayor does not need any other approvals, besides the self-appointed park board.
  3. 51.5-48.5...1 precinct left!!!
  4. Still 13 precincts to report
  5. 93% reporting and it is 56% no......looks like it failed!!!
  6. 55% reporting and it is still 56/44
  7. 23% reporting and it is 54% No to 46% yes
  8. Board of elections has it as "No" leading with 52%
  9. I just got back from working outside Knox church in Hyde Park. I have to say I am not that confident. A lot of voters were confused and didn't know what they were voting on. Most thought they were voting against the streetcar. Exactly what the writers of the amendment wanted. All council candidates and those supporting issues outside the church were against issue nine. All mentioned to me how terrible an amendment nine was except for Monzel and former councilman Cranley.
  10. Please volunteer to be at the polls tomorrow in order to make a last minute impression on all voters to "Vote no on Nine". Go here to sign up: http://www.cincinnatiansforprogress.com/Home.asp
  11. I live in Hyde Park and have never seen a Segway in the neighborhood or surrounding areas. The only place I have seen them are Downtown. All purchases are not made with money that could be used for operations. Some of these things are made with grants for specific purposes. One thing a lot of people don't understand is that just because money is spent in one area or on one thing doesn't mean that same money could have been diverted to another area.
  12. Krogers' QFC stores are smaller and more urban in nature, especially in Seattle. So, Kroger does do urban stores just not in its hometown.
  13. Efforts that have been going on for a few years now where as a smaller brewer with a no initial customer base can open up in a few months and be selling their beer......................Unfortunately I believe we will be hearing and waiting for Moerlein to return operations to the city for years to come.
  14. Soooo....why is the keg-tapping of the Cincy-based brew going to be in Springdale...? ...because it is not based in Cincinnati. The beer is brewed in PA WI and the headquarters are in West Chester or Middletown (One of the two). The beers may one have been Cincy beers but those days are long gone............
  15. It sure would be nice if Moerlein was actually a Cincinnati beer these days. The beers are brewed in PA and Wisconsin and the headquarters are actually in Middletown. If you want an actual Cincinnati beer these days your best and only choice is Sam Adams. They have one of their largest breweries in the City. The owner is from Cincinnati and so is the original recipe.
  16. Fresh was open for lunch today (Monday 08/25).
  17. Understand, but to open your own brewery I'm pretty sure you need to know how to brew your own beer.......
  18. Before they open a brewery in OTR they need to learn how to brew their own beer and not have it contracted out to another brewery.
  19. Kroger operates QFC grocery stores out west. I have been to ones in Seattle and they tend to be smaller and more urban in nature than your typical Kroger store. Hopefully Kroger would be able to transfer characteristics of these urban stores to an urban Kroger at the Banks if they choose to locate one there.
  20. ^wrong location for the dinner hours............you were about a block and a half off. The one with evening hours is on Fourth and Walnut (the old Atlanta Bread Company store). No need in giving up on them yet!!
  21. Typical Cincinnati progress.........go 75% of the way and then get side tracked by some proposal out of left field......this is what makes living in this city so frustrating!!
  22. ^Seattle has done some great projects over the past couple of years. I'm not sure of specific names but they have a lot of nice mixed use projects being completed in the city. I'd check it out for some ideas.
  23. It was either this or they leave downtown for the burbs.........got to pick your evil sometimes. Bank of America and P&G do not need to put their name on their buildings because you already know the building is theirs and they occupy it. Nobody has any clue as to who occupies the Carew Tower except for those that work there.
  24. Just walked by the square and noticed that Pot Belly's is now open. The posted hours are 6:30-7:00 M-F and 11:30-4:00 on Saturday.

Aren't they about a quarter behind on these releases??
