  1. I agree, but I think his problem goes beyond just personal fueds. I think he tries too hard to be edgy and controversial (and maybe funny), which would all be taken care of by just trying to be more objective.
  2. It's not what he writes about, but how he writes. Constant snark and negativity.
  3. Please don't do that, for your sake and the rest of ours' as well.
  4. Sam Allard is single handedly ruining it. It's as if they took one of the cleveland.com all star commenters and hired them as a journalist. He must be a hero to all those people.
  5. Why can't we do both? Provide a dirt bike track, and also punish those who break the law. Other than the taking their homes part, I don't see anything KJP said as being out of line. These riders are continually putting the public in danger and need to be punished. Do you think they give a damn about consequences of their own actions if they're willing to drive ATVs and pickup trucks 30 MPH down the sidewalk and across yards? How would you feel if that was the sidewalk your young children walked on?
  6. Perez's first home run was a 3 run shot as well. We actually scored our 10 runs on three 3 run HRs and one solo homer. That's the MLB of today I guess.
  7. Here's a fun stat on Austin. Its MSA has almost the same exact population as Cleveland's MSA...with about 2.5 times the land area.

Yeah, and they must be banking on people not paying their boo on time with that loan-sharkish 29.99% APR.

How do they do this? Aren't they just eating the sales tax?
  11. Ashtabula County was not removed from the CSA. It was removed from the Cleveland-Elyria MSA a while ago (and became its own µSA), but it is still in the Cleveland-Akron-Canton CSA. See page 122: https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Bulletin-18-04.pdf
  12. Amazon has scaled such that it's nearly impossible for anyone to compete with them on price. The department stores could differentiate with services like this, but the prices would be higher for the same items. I don't think there are enough consumers that value service enough to pay the higher prices.
  13. I believe Crocker Park *opened* (October 29, 2004) before the first hint Stark gave of a plan for the warehouse district (March 5, 2005).
  14. Hey, when your pager's beeping 9-1-1 at you, you're gonna be glad there's a pay phone nearby!
  15. If you want to see fruitless discussion between the far ends of the political spectrum, head over to the Trump thread. You'll then appreciate this discussion more! ? Seriously, though, I think the viewpoints presented in the discussion (at least on this page) were fairly "moderate left" and "moderate right." But you're right, they probably don't belong in a transit thread.
  16. Here I thought we were having a decent discussion about this. I'm not sure who you're referring to, but I re-read the rest of this page and if someone in this discussion doesn't have "some grip on basic decency, morality, and common sense," I surely missed those posts.
  17. I wholeheartedly disagree with this. As TBideon mentioned, this argument can be used to support any exploitative labor practice. We can argue what a fair minimum wage is, but your argument could be used to argue for no minimum wage, safety laws, child labor laws, etc. The key is that these laws need to be enacted at the federal level, so employers can't run to the next state to dodge them. (The same thing applies to employers running to foreign countries that may have more lax regulations that we don't agree with, but this is what we use things like tariffs to compensate for.)
  18. Ha, I didn't even notice that. It popped up in my Google Feed for some reason, before I had even seen the other story about his great grandson, so I assumed it was recent. Thanks for the correction.
  19. It's an awfully bad week for his family it seems: https://www.cleveland19.com/story/35643618/cleveland-mayors-grandson-wears-ripped-cavs-budweiser-t-shirt-to-court-for-handgun-felony-charge/
  20. OK, I see that I was wrong about which building everyone is talking about. I forgot that Nucleus does include the land that the parking garage and building housing Nick's sit on. My comment still holds for the Herold Building, though. Why tear something down with no plans for what to do with the property?
  21. I don't think you're referring to the right building. Only one building is being demolished (other than the parking garage,) and it's across the site from Harry Buffalo and not part of a dilapidated stretch. In fact, the building itself isn't even vacant. If it was being demolished with a plan in place for something new, that would be one thing. But it seems as if it's being demolished for no real purpose. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe Nucleus extends that far east along Prospect. I still haven't heard a reason for this building to be demolished, other than to create a new surface lot next to Nucleus for some reason.
  22. It's a three story building I believe, and it doesn't matter if Nucleus phase 1 is a done deal or not, this building isn't in the way. Why would he tear down a building that might be in the way of a hypothetical phase 2 before he even starts on phase 1?
  23. As Terdolph (Tedolph?) mentioned, my biggest problem with what Stark is doing is demoing a historic building that is not in the way of what he plans to build. Why does this need to be done now? What if the rest of the project falls through? Then we're actually worse off (with a brand new surface lot) than if he hadn't done anything at all.
  24. I still don't understand why they have to demo that building now if it's not in the way of the planned towers.
